Dish! Who Do Brit and Adnan Remind You Of?

In a recent Entertainment Tonight interview with douchelord supreme Adnan Ghalib, the paparazzo who is exploiting his "friendship" with Britney Spears to make a buck, the interviewer compared Britney to Princess Diana because Britney is relentlessly hounded by the paparazzi. "And because she's dating an Arab," Adnan mumbled modestly, referring to billionaire film producer Dodi Al-Fayed, who dated Diana at the end of her life and perished with her in a car crash. Am I the only one who thinks this comparison is beyond ridiculous? What couple do they remind you of?

Tom Cruise in Lions for Lambs, Out of Germany

I'm finding it difficult to take Tom Cruise seriously - ever since the couch-jumping and disparaging remarks about psychiatry I've cast a wary eye on him - but the German military is taking him very seriously. Cruise's attempts to shoot his Nazi drama Valkyrie have been thwarted by the German military because Cruise is a Scientologist. According to the article:

Defense Ministry spokesman Harald Kammerbauer said the film makers "will not be allowed to film at German military sites if Count Stauffenberg is played by Tom Cruise, who has publicly professed to being a member of the Scientology cult."

That's the second time in recent history that Scientologist actors have come under fire for the characters they are portraying: Gay critics have lashed out at the casting of John Travolta as Edna Turnblad in Hairspray, complaining that an iconic gay character such as Edna (previously played by Divine in John Waters' Hairspray) should not be played by an actor who belongs to a church believed to have homophobic views.

While Cruise and his people are duking it out with the German military, however, a few snippets from Cruise's next movie Lions for Lambs were recently aired on "Entertainment Tonight." The movie stars Meryl Streep and Robert Redford (Redford also directs), and from the clips it looks like the two actors who are not Tom Cruise are excellent as usual, while Cruise is, again, pretty hard to take seriously. Alec Baldwin Talks His Words With Friends Dustup and Politics in the Press Room

Alec Baldwin made an appearance backstage in the press room at tonight's SAG Awards just after snagging the honor for outstanding performance by a male actor in a comedy series. True to form, the 30 Rock star wasn't shy about discussing his current political views, and he also made light of his recent in-flight Words With Friends flap. Here are the highlights:

On his opinion of the 2012 primary: "The thing about the campaign that concerns me most is, how is Gingrich going to be able to retract all the things he's said about Romney once he becomes a nominee?"

On why he feels more comfortable sharing political views today vs. when he started out: "What's changed is that, and thankfully what's evolved over time is, there are better forums to give that opinion ... when [I] started, quite frankly, entertainment journalism and these entertainment talk shows were fairly new, and they weren't omnipresent ... and during the time that they've grown, people have had to learn the lesson that that's not the best place to -that you should keep it light. CNN, The Huffington Post, are good places to air those views."

On whether he still is ever afraid to voice his opinions: "I'm still scared to speak out. I want season seven [of 30 Rock] really badly. I want us to come back for another season. When you do speak out, it does cost you. The ones that are the most successful film stars today and have the most potent careers are the ones you know virtually nothing about ... they're very smart to do that."

On whether he's still playing his favorite game: "I am still playing Words With Friends ... but now on Virgin Atlantic."

Pilot Scoop: House of Lies

The major networks aren't the only ones trotting out new midseason shows; Showtime is getting in on the fun with tonight's premiere of House of Lies. The 30-minute comedy has a great cast that includes Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell as slick, fast-talking management consultants.

What it's about: Cheadle leads the way as Marty, who has essentially sold his soul for a fat paycheck, along with the three other people on his team (Bell, Ben Schwartz, and Josh Lawson). Marty's not all business though; he's got a "psycho" ex-wife who works for a competing firm, and a young son whose top priorities are shoe shopping and landing the role of Sandy in the school production of Grease.
Where it works: Cheadle is as excellent as always, and getting an inside look into Marty's world is appealing, especially since this is Showtime we're talking about here. Whether or not the raunchy debauchery that Marty gets into is realistic, it makes for good entertainment.
Where it doesn't: Though I laughed a couple of times, sometimes the pilot feels too smug for its own good. There's also the issue that Marty consistently freezes time to break the fourth wall and explain what he's thinking, which is a little too reminiscent of Zack Morris's timeouts on Saved by the Bell.
You might like this show if: You're into Showtime's Californication; the humor is similar and there's just as much nudity.
When it's on: Sundays at 10 p.m.

Strike up the band; the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is ready to go! A time-honored tradition for many families, the nationally televised parade is the perfect mode of entertainment for multiple generations who've gathered together for the holiday. This is the 85th year Macy's has put on the parade that winds its way through New York City, and it looks to be bigger and better than ever. With 15 gigantic balloons - including new friends such as Paul Frank's Julius, the Aflac duck, and a new character created by Tim Burton, as well as longtime favorites like Kermit the Frog, Mickey Mouse, and Spider-Man - 27 floats, 800 clowns, and 1,600 cheerleaders, there's plenty to entertain fidgety tots.

I got a behind-the-scenes look at the helium-filled wonders tonight, as their handlers - the large balloons require up to 100 handlers each! - got them ready for their moment in the spotlight. Under the direction of a new grand marshal, the parade gets underway bright and early on Thanksgiving Day. Kim Kardashian Tricks Bieber Fans Into Voting For Her Brother on Dramatic DWTS

Most of the Kardashian family came out to watch Rob perform his cha-cha with partner Cheryl Burke on Dancing With the Stars in LA last night. Kim was joined by her husband, Kris Humphries, while Khloé had her one-and-only, Lamar Odom on her arm. Kris and Bruce Jenner were in the audience cheering on Rob, as Kim was busy cooking up a voting scheme for her younger brother. Kim Kardashian tweeted to fans, "OMG I have @JustinBieber 's phone #!!!! 800 8683402! CALL HIM! He's taking calls for the next hour!!!!" and later followed up with, "Ok guys obviously I'm joking, that's not Justin's #! But seriously call & vote for @RobKardashian & @CherylBurke 800 8683402!!! Xoxo." Kim famously competed on the show in 2008 so she knows the importance of votes; however, Rob may be out of harm's way after scoring a solid 22 for his latest routine. Fellow contestant Hope Solo might be on the chopping block tonight following a heated exchange between her dance partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and head judge Len Goodman. Len commented that Maksim and Hope put out the "worst dance of the season" to which Maksim replied with "maybe it's time to go! [retire]" in regards to Goodman's 50 plus years in entertainment.

Geek Shot: The Doctor Is a Sci-Fi Favorite

Spike TV's Scream Awards, a celebration of the best sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and comic book entertainment in the last year, was held last weekend, and one familiar geeky face took home a top prize.

Matt Smith, who plays the title role in Doctor Who, is seen here accepting the award for best science fiction actor for his work on the show. The show was also nominated for best TV show, but Game of Thrones ended up with the honor.

A Whovian bonus: Matt is scheduled as a guest on tonight's episode of The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson, so be sure to tune in or set the DVR. Think he'll reveal any spoilers from the upcoming Christmas special?

The Office, "Garden Party": Best Lines of the Night

On this week's The Office, we're thrown back into Andy's world. He's still trying to seek praise and approval from the new boss in true Bernard style: by throwing an oh-so-elegant garden party. And what better location to throw a dignified shindig than the super classy Schrute Beet Farm? Since Dwight's trying to break into the high-end entertaining world, he's thrilled for the opportunity to host. He's so serious about the endeavor that he even purchases the only copy of Throwing A Garden Party, authored by a true expert on the subject: James Trickington (better known as Jim Halpert). Not only is this book full of practical advice, it's an awesome throwback to the incredible pranks Jim pulled on Dwight in the first seasons of The Office.

Another highlight of tonight's episode is finally meeting the Nard Dog's family! Dee Wallace and Stephen Collins play Andy's parents, but my favorite cameo came from singer Josh Groban, who does an awesome job playing Andy's younger, seemingly perfect brother. While Andy's desperate need to be accepted truly tugged at my heartstrings, the episode has some seriously hysterical moments from all the Dunder Mifflin crew to provide much needed relief.
