For today's buzz lines challenge, I chose a '90s classic: Empire Records. The one-day-long comedy set in a record store features an ensemble of then-unknowns like Renée Zellweger, and it's one of my absolute most favorite movies of all time. Every other Wednesday on BuzzSugar, I post a Recast challenge, where I ask you to choose new actors for a classic TV show or movie. The reader who submits the best cast wins a BuzzSugar t-shirt!

I'm glad to see everyone shared in my enthusiasm for one of my favorite movies out of the '90s, Empire Records! These are really fun characters to recast and I'm sure young actors in Hollywood would die for a part in a movie like this.

I liked that both daisydidi and lookwhatimade suggested Mandy Moore for the character Liv Tyler played, Corey. Mandy is someone I could see in an independent record store, yet she gives off a "once I'm done here I'm off to the Ivy league" vibe.

I was also totally thrilled to see Olivia Thirlby's name pop up many times; I think she'd be right at home in a movie like this.

For the boys, I liked Whip's idea for Joseph Gordon-Levitt to play A.J. (he's another one of those actors whose name makes me smile), and my friend Citizen's pick for A.J., Michael Rady (a.k.a. the cutie from The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and now Swingtown), is great too.

In the end, I went with the cast that's hard to argue with: Congrats to Mary_Sofi!

This week I was totally inspired by the American Teen soundtrack and chose for this week's recast challenge the movie with a soundtrack that rocked my world as a kid: Empire Records! Though I haven't seen the movie in a few years, I remember being completely envious of Liv Tyler's hair, being in love with Ethan Embry, and vowing to work at a record store and/or own one when I grew up.

But I digress. Let's recast this movie! Who would play the employees of this independently owned record store? There's the smart and leggy Corey (Tyler), cute A.J. (Johnny Whitworth), sexy free spirit Gina (Renée Zellweger), moody Debra (Robin Tunney), cute stoner Mark (Embry) and the quirky kid that tries to save the store, Lucas (Rory Cochrane).

What to Netflix: Worthwhile Renee Zellweger Movies

Earlier this week I posted a preview for Renee Zellweger's latest project, Miss Potter, and it got me thinking about Zellweger and her career. She seems to be a very hit-or-miss actress, veering between funny and likeable and silly or one-dimensional. While I'll have to see Miss Potter to decide whether she's right for that part, I know for sure that there are some movies in which Zellweger truly shines. Check out my picks for some of her best work, and let me know your thoughts.

Empire Records
Zellweger is young and endearing in this teenage angst-y dramedy about an independent record store in danger of being absorbed by a large chain. The motley crew of misfits who work at the store must think of ways to raise enough money for Empire Records to remain independent. Zellweger gives a spot-on performance as the promiscuous Gina, contrasting hilariously with the sweet, lovestruck Corey (played by a nubile Liv Tyler). Best part: Gina and Corey's fabulously screechy teen girl fight.

Chicago
In this film version of the hit Broadway musical, Zellweger plays Roxie Hart, a fame-hungry woman who ends up in jail for killing her boyfriend when he won't make her a star. Catherine Zeta-Jones co-stars as Velma Kelly, imprisoned for having murdered her husband and sister after finding them in bed together. Velma's slick lawyer Billy Flynn (played smugly by Richard Gere) makes the duo into a tabloid sensation, and they cattily compete for the public spotlight. To me, Renee Zellweger epitomizes Roxie Hart: proud, greedy, girlish, beautiful and insecure, and the film is completely entertaining from beginning to end.

Cold Mountain
I went to see Cold Mountain for two reasons: Jude Law's hotness and Anthony Minghella's directing. This cinematic take on The Odyssey follows a soldier (Law) as he makes the long journey home back to his beloved (Kidman), who is struggling to keep the family farm going with the help of a spunky young wanderer played by Zellweger. At first, I was afraid that Zellweger might distract from an otherwise stunning film, but her polished performance and flawless Southern accent were two of the best things about the movie.

Announcing the 2012 Grammy Award Winners

The mood of the Grammy Awards was a bit somber this year in the wake of Whitney Houston's shocking death, but the show went on, and the statues were all handed out to the winners. Adele owned the night, picking up multiple awards, including those for record of the year, album of the year, and song of the year.

For the second year in a row, the Recording Academy has given a hip-hop artist the most Grammy nominations. Last year, it was rapper Eminem with eight, and this year, Kanye West leads the nominees with seven chances at the golden gramophone, including a song of the year nod for "All of the Lights." West is also nominated twice in the rap album of the year category for his collaboration with Jay-Z on Watch the Throne and his own album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Brit crooner Adele wasn't far behind Kanye, picking up six nominations for her album 21, as well as a shot at song of the year with "Rolling in the Deep."

Bruno Mars also did well, racking up six nominations (that's down one from last year for those keeping track), while newcomers like Nicki Minaj and dubstep artist Skrillex are up for the best new artist category. Announcing the Winners of the 2011 Grammy Awards!

There goes another staple in award season - the Grammys are a wrap! The night was chock-full of performances from standouts like Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga, but there were a few statuettes passed out between songs.

Muse frontman Matt Bellamy took the opportunity to thank his "beautiful pregnant girlfriend" Kate Hudson while accepting the trophy for best rock album, and Lady Gaga gave props to Whitney Houston in her acceptance speech for best pop album. Lady Antebellum scored big with five golden gramophones, but it was Arcade Fire that won the biggest award of the night, taking home the accolade for album of the year.

Would You Read a Cooking Magazine From Gwyneth Paltrow?

2011 is shaping up to be one of Gwyneth Paltrow's busiest years. Between her recurring role on Glee, a possible recording contract, lining up a miniseries for HBO, the release of her cookbook, My Father's Daughter, in two weeks, and managing her weekly GOOP emails, she might have found time for another venture.

Gwyneth is reportedly considering adding to her empire by starting a cooking magazine for Hearst. She's tackled restaurant recommendations and detoxifying cleanses with her newsletter and family recipes in her upcoming book, in addition to taking fans on a culinary tour of Spain with her PBS Series. She clearly loves to be in the kitchen and share her adventures with food, but tell us - would you read a cooking magazine from Gwyneth?

Nicolas Cage Is Seriously on Fire in the Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance Trailer

The Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance trailer is really something you have to see to believe. The sequel to the 2007 action flick has Nicolas Cage reprising his role as Johnny Blaze (aka Ghost Rider), and this time he's taking on the devil, played by Ciarán Hinds, in Eastern Europe. Idris Elba and Johnny Whitworth (Empire Records alert!) also star.

Like most action trailers, Ghost Rider gives you a lot of intensity from high-speed chases, explosions, and menacing villains, but this installment really goes one step further, with a flaming Cage riding his motorcycle like he did in the first film - but this time he's doing more, uh, everyday things while on fire, too. Even if you're not planning on seeing the film, slated for release in February 2012, it's worth it to see the trailer's jarringly silly final image. Watch when you
