Happy Earth Day! In my entertainment-centric opinion, the Earth is the most gorgeous Hollywood star around, and there are so many good reasons to do your part to preserve the planet and its beauty. Every once in awhile a movie captures the Earth's glory in a way that makes you think, "What would we do without all this natural beauty?"
Earth Day Movie Night: Environmental Disaster Movies
As I was researching environmental disaster movies it was interesting to see how long this idea has been around that humans could destroy the earth simply by taking its resources for granted. Long before Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth, filmmakers and fiction writers were clearly aware that manmade pollution has a chance of bringing about an apocalyptic scenario here on earth. So, in honor of Earth Day I present a few movies that, in their own over-the-top ways urge audiences to heed the warnings of the day lest we succumb to a future worse than what these films imagined.
Fox Stars Want You to Go Green for Earth Day
Happy Earth Day, everybody! As we take a day to celebrate our lovely planet, Fox is launching a new environmental campaign with on-air promos guiding viewers toward a more eco-friendly lifestyle and announcements from a whole slew of Fox stars suggesting simple tips for going green.
I'm not sure which approach I prefer: Fox's or NBC's Green is Universal campaign, which actually integrates green messages into shows (though Fox will do a little of that, too, with a green-themed Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?
