Returning for the sequel Josh Hutcherson shares the big screen with newcomers to the franchise Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Vanessa Hudgens. I sat down with Dwayne at a recent press day in Honolulu where he shared what it was like shooting on location in Hawaii, where he grew up, and how he mesmerizes ladies with his rock solid pecs. Movie Preview: Wahlberg and Ferrell Are The Other Guys

Cop Out may have missed the mark, but coming this August, we'll have another buddy movie ready to try law enforcement - and dare I say, I think it looks funnier. Titled The Other Guys, the film teams Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell as underdog partners. Overshadowed by their squad's all-stars (played by Dwayne Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson), they try to prove themselves as an equally capable duo only to get caught up in hijinks.

While the setup itself doesn't sound like anything revolutionary, Ferrell and Wahlberg as an odd couple has me sold. Ferrell is doing his usual schtick here, but it's really refreshing to see Wahlberg continue to do comedy since I love him in Date Night (especially when he's acting like a wacky . . . um, peacock?). Monday Pick-Me-Up: Dwayne Johnson's SNL Showtune

In case you missed it, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson beautifully (and I mean, beautifully) hosted Saturday Night Live over the weekend for his third time. I thought he did a great job - from his Barack Obama impression ("The Rock Obama") to his role as a bitter Hawaiian restaurant performer, I have to admit, I really enjoyed his time on the show.

Hands down, though, my favorite part of the episode (which, to be honest, I rewound and watched at least three more times on TV) was Johnson's musical number during his monologue. It's his way of proving that Hollywood hasn't made him fancy or soft - he's still tough! Tough enough for a skimpy sequined vest over a bare chest. That's what I'm talkin' about.

Get Smart: A Light, Easy Treat

You know when you're tired, cranky, and hungry right around mid-afternoon and you know you should just gnaw on the baby carrots you put in the office fridge during a fit of optimism but all you want to do is grab the Ho-Hos (or in my case, those Tag-a-Long Girl Scout cookies) in your top drawer and stuff your face? And then sometimes you decide to stuff your face and it's insanely satisfying (if only temporarily)? That's what my experience of watching Get Smart was like. This was one week when I needed a good, lighthearted laugh and in that sense, Get Smart is the perfect thing. It's obviously not high art and it's not even really clever as far as comedies go. It's just fun. I watched, I laughed, I went home happy.

Steve Carell resurrects Maxwell Smart, the main character from the 1960s TV series on which this movie is based. Smart only becomes a secret agent for the spy organization CONTROL when The Chief (Alan Arkin) needs more people on his team after their offices have been attacked by nemesis spy team, KAOS. Now deemed Agent 86, Smart is paired up with the intelligent, accomplished Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway) and, together with The Chief and the outrageously manly Agent 23 (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson), the CONTROL operatives struggle to stop KAOS from carrying out their plans of mass murder and world domination. Other CONTROL duos like Agent 91 (Terry Crews) and Larabee (David Koechner, who I wish had been recast with Rob Corddry), and the young geek team Bruce (Masi Oka) and Lloyd (Nate Torrence) provide additional laughs when necessary. One of the best things about this movie is that the humor comes in quick, brief spurts as the plotline trots gamely along. So often the complaint with things that "should be funny, but aren't" is that the gags go on for too dang long. This is not a problem in Get Smart, and I seriously appreciate it. In a similar vein, with the exception of Carell, no one actor is used for so long that we start to tire of them. Each person does what he or she does best and then gets out of the way.

For example, as much as I like Alan Arkin as an actor, I'm glad he's not in the movie more than he is, and the same goes for Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson who, I'm convinced, was born to have roles like these. His good looks and overt masculinity are played for laughs, but this schtick is doled out in moderation. As much as I enjoy looking at him (and I truly love looking at him), I wonder if instead of carrying entire movies on his own, he should have smaller roles like these in a variety of different projects. I'd like to see that.

As for the guy carrying this movie, Carell's Maxwell Smart is not too different from his alter-ego on The Office, Michael Scott. Carell rarely strays too far from his Michael Scott-style naivete, but then again, Carell is often a pleasantly restrained actor. While I've seen episodes of the original Get Smart series, I don't have such an attachment that I have any specific feelings about the transition from little screen to big screen. At first Anne Hathaway seemed an unlikely choice as Agent 99, but there's an explanation for why she seems so much younger than Agent 86, and she's capable enough in the role. Overall, I think Maxwell Smart - especially as played by Carell - works well in a modern-day movie, and the director makes several clear nods to the original show.

An older gentleman at my screening said he didn't like the movie and thought it was "stupid," which I can understand, but maybe it's because I've also seen The Love Guru and I know what extremely stupid looks like (more on that here) that I can appreciate something that's neither mentally taxing nor insultingly dumb on every possible level. Also, this man told me he doesn't watch The Office, and I think there are simply some people who enjoy that humor and some who don't. I don't presume everyone will like this movie. It's not super intelligent and it's not Apatow-crass - it's just plain silly. But if you're brain's fried and you've had a long week, it might be just the cure, if only temporarily.

From WWE to playing the fictional winged character that rewards children for losing their teeth, Dwayne Johnson is having quite the career. I originally thought this was a joke but . . . it's not. It's just not. Variety is reporting that "Dwayne Johnson will star as the title character in The Tooth Fairy."

Did you know there's a tooth fairy kingdom? Well, there is! And Johnson is just the man to "try and save the tooth fairy kingdom." But from what? Who could be threatening the tooth fairy kingdom? Oh, the drama.

What do you think about this news? Is Johnson continuing on a path toward ruining his credibility as an actor, or does he just have a healthy and playful sense of humor?

Mark Wahlberg Strips Down to Boxer Briefs and Teams Up With GNC

Mark Wahlberg continued to show off his fine form stripping down to underwear and a tank top on the set of Pain and Gain in Miami, FL, yesterday. Marky Mark's Calvin Klein underwear ads debuted more than 20 years ago and he still looks fantastic in his boxer briefs. Mark bulked up even more than usual for his new movie, in which he costars with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and fans can expect to see a lot of those famous muscles when Pain and Gain hits the big screen. Mark will also soon be helping others maintain their own fine forms thanks to MARKED, the new line of nutritional supplements he is developing with GNC.

The actor has also been enjoying his downtime while in Florida. Mark went shirtless to hit the beach with his family, including his hot bikini-clad wife Rhea Durham and their four kids, for the past two weekends.

He's teaming up with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in a story about a group of bodybuilders who get mixed up in a kidnapping that goes wrong. Mark looks like he's been working out to get ready for the role, and his partner in crime, The Rock, has likely been hitting the gym in preparation for his return to the ring. The Rock is coming out of retirement for this weekend's Wrestlemania XXVIII. He's taking on his long-time enemy John Cena on Sunday night with other famous names like The Undertaker and Chris Jericho expected to participate in the televised event.

Earlier this week her friend and fellow Victoria's Secret Angel Doutzen Kroes slipped into a sexy black bikini, and spent an afternoon taking instruction from the commercial's director, Michael Bay. Michael is putting his big-screen projects, like Transformers 4, on hold to direct Candice, Doutzen, Erin Heatherton, Bahati Prinsloo, and Ana Beatriz Barros on the small screen. He has an ongoing relationship with the lingerie giant and previously worked with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Adriana Lima on similar ads. Michael's stay in Miami could be extended for a few more months in preparation for his next big budget production, Pain & Gain.
