Desperate Housewives Rundown, "The Coffee Cup"

Some shows bring out big guest stars for November sweeps, but Desperate Housewives is getting back in touch with its sexy side instead. Susan tries to set a new record with Mike while Bree narrowly escapes an Orson interruption when she's with Karl. Meanwhile, Lynette's pregnancy secret is finally out and Nick Bolen continues to be creeptastic all over town.

Now that Mad Men's long gone, I'm hoping the housewives will kick things into higher gear for my Sunday nights. Ready to get into it? Just read more.

Susan: Susan manages to avoid jail time for shooting Katherine, but the cheeky judge sentences her to garbage pick up for all of her "trash talking" (get it?!). Katherine and Susan's little courtroom drama re-enactment is ridiculous (as is Susan's cleavage baring dress for the hearing) but unfortunately the catty antics don't stop there. Katherine taunts Susan and her orange jumpsuit, prompting Susan to turn the tables on her rival. Katherine has a hissy fit and reveals that she and Mike once had sex five times in one day, which of course gets Susan all worked up. When her endless array of lingerie and come-ons still can't land Mike in the sack more than three times in 24 hours, Susan has one of her typical annoying tantrums. Mike comforts her in what's meant to be an "aww" inducing moment, but I was too busy rolling my eyes. Usually Susan doesn't bug me this much, but I couldn't be more over the love triangle.

Angie and Bree: Gaby usually has the best lines of the show, but it looks like Angie is right on her tail - "Have you seen Avenue Q? With the puppets? Now that's theater." Anyway, Angie's now got herself a balancing act between giving Nick grief about his affair with Julie and being too involved with Bree's life. After Orson admits to Angie that he suspects Bree is having an affair, Angie immediately tells Bree. Though she refuses to spy on Bree, Angie still gets all tangled up in the web when she plays Rear Window - looking on as Orson enters the house while Bree and Karl are upstairs getting it on. Angie intervenes and saves the day, but how long before she asks Bree to return the favor. Also, when Orson is discussing the plot of Madame Butterfly, is he insinuating that he might kill himself when he inevitably finds out about Bree's affair? Personally, both Karl and Orson kind of bug me so I'm just as torn as Bree is about which man to choose.

Lynette and Gaby: The latest update in Lynette's secret pregnancy? Menswear. But that's just the tip of the iceberg, when she and Gaby start squaring off over one of Lynette's colleagues. Gaby convinces Carlos to transfer Terrence, the colleague in question, to Florida so that Juanita can take Terrence's daughter's spot at a Catholic school. Realizing that she won't be able to take maternity leave without Terrence, Lynette turns the tables and convinces Terrence to reject the transfer. The tables turn on Lynette when Gaby discovers that she's pregnant - and Carlos is pissed. He gives Lynette an ultimatum - take the spot in Florida, or quit. Though Carlos's anger is understandable, I think I'm on Lynette's side here. Carlos had been complaining about another co-worker's pregnancy, so Lynette had every right to be scared to tell him. I also think it's a bit rich for Gaby to admit how selfish she is but then point fingers at Lynette for keeping her secret.

How'd you feel about the scandals this week? Are you on Team Orson or Team Karl? Do you think it was Nick who kills the coffee shop girl at the end? Sound off!

Desperate Housewives Rundown, "Careful the Things You Say"

It's another typical week on Wisteria Lane in the latest episode of Desperate Housewives. It's not the most scandalous episode thus far, but there are still plenty of lies, secrets, betrayals -and it all ends up with Susan behind bars.

To discuss what else went down with the ladies, just read more.

Susan: After Angie's warning, Susan is now dedicated to making sure Katherine is investigated for Julie's attack. Unfortunately the cops seem less interested with Susan than with their sandwiches and pickles, but a female officer named Debbie offers to take the case. Of course, nothing is ever that simple with Susan, and it turns out that she made Denise's life hell back in high school by giving her the nickname of "Moose." Naturally, Moose still wants revenge and she gets it - by throwing Susan behind bars for shooting Katherine.

Lynette: Lynette's pregnancy is put on the back burner this week, and instead she finds herself deeper in the midst of Julie and Nick's drama. She tries to tell Nick to back of Susan's daughter, but when Nick threatens Lynette, she decides it's time to go to the police - against Julie's will. I was glad that she didn't let Nick scare her into silence with Tom, but I still think Susan won't be pleased when she discovers that Lynette has kept another secret from her.

Gaby: Gaby's life as a tutor quickly comes to an end. When Juanita refuses to learn from her mom, their new housekeeper Ivana steps in to help. Gaby is thrilled with her new life that doesn't involve teaching or scrubbing floors, though it's pretty amazing when Gaby has to do a few chores to get Ivana out of a bind. In the end she explains to Carlos that tutoring is ruining her relationship with Juanita, and Carlos lets her off the hook. Meanwhile, where are Celia and Ana? Suddenly behaving like perfect little angels?

Bree: Bree is put into an awkward situation when a dinner date with the Bolens turns out to be an audition for Angie to take Katherine's spot with Bree's catering company. Clearly put off with Angie's demeanor, Bree blows her off - until a client comes in wanting some old-fashioned Italian food. Bree tries to manipulate Angie into giving up the recipes, but Angie finds Bree out. The ladies learn they have more in common than they thought, and Bree agrees to give Angie a job. I'm enjoying this new partnership, especially since Bree is so uncomfortable around Angie. Meanwhile, Orson continues to try to unravel Bree's lie about the brooch, but doesn't make much progress.

Angie: I have to say that I kinda fell in love with Angie this week. Though she's clearly the hardass of Wisteria Lane, she seems genuinely sweet trying to impress Bree with her cooking skills and offering Lynette a glass of wine. She even takes Nick back after admitting that she knew about his affair with Julie all along - though not without a swift punch in the face first. She may have a checkered past, but Angie seems to be able to take care of herself just fine.

Did you like this week's episode? Are you starting to root for Angie or do you still think she can't be trusted?

Desperate Housewives Rundown, "Don't Walk on the Grass"

This week's episode of Desperate Housewives had a lot of the same themes as last week - Bree can't make up her mind about Orson, Katherine is crazy town, and Gaby's parenting skills fall under scrutiny. The trouble continues for Lynette, Tom, and their growing family, and for once the Bolens stay (mostly) out of trouble. It wasn't exactly filler, but it wasn't the juiciest episode we've seen either.

Ready to get into it? Just read more.

Bree: Bree's relationship with Karl comes to a head this week when he decides he's ready to take the next step just as she's dumping him. She's touched when he gifts her a brooch that was his grandmother's, though I found it hard to believe that it didn't even occur to Bree to question why Karl wouldn't have given the brooch to Susan, or even to Julie. After talking it over with Susan she decides to give Karl a sex-free trial period to determine whether or not she'll marry him - though Orson is one step closer to discovering her secret when he tries to do Bree a sweet favor.

Gaby: Gaby and Carlos are accused of bad parenting once again when Juanita drops what I assume to be an F-bomb during her school's Thanksgiving pageant. First off, she's seven and this is only the first time she's ever said that? Considering how much Gaby and Carlos allegedly swear, you'd think the kid would have mimicked her parents long before that. I had to agree with Gaby that the principal's punishment seemed a bit harsh for a seven-year-old, though Gaby's plan backfires when she pulls Juanita out of school. Here's the question: if the Solis's are back to being loaded again, can't they hire a tutor to help Juanita finish out the year? Regardless, I'm assuming that Gaby's lack of parental supervision is going to come to a head sometime in the very near future.

Lynette: While Lynette is busy hiding her pregnancy from her friends, Tom starts to embrace the lighter side of college living, aka gettin' fratty with his new nickname T-Scav. After a couple of incidents with his younger classmates, Lynette heads to a keg party and finds out that Tom is just doing the boys a favor in exchange for test answers. Lynette and Tom square off about lying to get ahead, and I'm on the fence about whose side I'm on. Tom has a point about Lynette needing to get off her high horse, but her actions still seem more justified to me than his do.

Susan/Katherine: Ugh. Is anyone else sick of Katherine yet? This time around she demands that Susan and Mike let her back into their social circle, threatening to sue Susan for shooting her if they don't oblige. Then she suddenly has a leaky faucet at 11p.m., and Susan discovers Katherine's ulterior motives when she sees the rose petals and bubble bath all set up in her den of seduction. I was glad that by the end Susan finally decides not to take any more of Katherine's blackmailing.

Angie: When Katherine isn't harassing Susan, she's busy barging into the Bolen house - you'd think with all the crime that Wisteria Lane has seen, someone would lock their doors every once in a while. Katherine is displeased when Angie doesn't want to be her new BFF and partner in crime, so she comes back later with a pineapple upside down cake, and of course gets an earful. By the end of the episode, it seems like Katherine is on to Angie's lie about her mother's death (not to mention how sketchy it is that the Bolens have a pre-paid cell phone). Is it possible that Katherine is shaping up to be even more dangerous than the Bolen family? At the end of the episode Angie is implicating Katherine in Julie's attack, which to me is pretty much proof that Angie may have done it herself - perhaps to get back at Julie for sleeping with her husband.

What'd you think of the episode? Do you think Angie is behind the attack?

Photo copyright 2009ABC, Inc.

Desperate Housewives Rundown, "Everybody Ought to Have a Maid"

This week's episode of Desperate Housewives is all about judgment (though it's also a little bit about monkey attacks, but more on that later). The Bolen family continues with their shady behavior, while Julie is having some trouble adjusting to life on Wisteria Lane after her attack. Meanwhile, Gaby is accused of being a bad mom and Bree has a showdown with a motel housekeeper.

Ready to talk about it? Just read more.

Gaby: Gaby gets the comic relief once again this week as she tries to prove her mothering skills to the other snippy ladies at school. In order to regain their trust, she lures their children to Juanita's birthday party by pulling out all the stops. Of course things go awry when the trained monkey starts attacking the clown while Gaby is busy having drinks with Susan. In the end Carlos comforts her, but I have to admit - Gaby isn't exactly the greatest mom in the world. That said, Carlos isn't exactly a model parent either - where was he during his daughter's birthday party?

Susan: Susan and Katherine's rivalry reaches new heights this week, when the ladies have a mini-showdown at their neighborhood watch meeting. Susan is paranoid about Katherine coming on to Mike, and it culminates when Susan accidentally shoots Katherine through a window. Susan wouldn't be Susan without her usual clumsy antics, but couldn't she just ignore Katherine? Katherine seems so desperate, but Susan is kinda sinking to her level. Not to mention that calling Katherine a "loon" isn't exactly the best method of telling your friend that she probably needs to see a professional.

Angie: Most of Angie's problems take place without her even knowing it this week, as Danny gives the family gun to Julie for protection. Danny also confronts Dominic about his affair with Julie, and Dominic responds in a typically creepy manner, telling Danny to go ahead and spill to Angie. Angie keeps her distance for most of the episode, but then she plays a big factor in keeping Katherine crazy, to keep Katherine from turning in the Bolen family gun. I know Angie is a tough cookie, but somehow I feel like she may be the moral member of her family.

Lynette: Lynette's "twins" situation (both of 'em) is put on hold this week as she tries to help out her friend Mrs. McCluskey. First of all, McCluskey talking about her sex life - eeew. Lynette agrees to hire McCluskey's boyfriend Roy as the Scavo family handyman, but Roy won't stop going over Lynette's head and turning to Tom for ultimate decision-making. When Roy basically tells Lynette that she's emasculating her husband, Lynette loses it and fires him. But how sweet is Tom explaining to Roy that he lets Lynette have control so that she can feel safe? By far my favorite moment of the episode.

Bree: I thought Bree's storyline was kinda lame this week. The maid at the motel starts judging Bree's cheating ways, so of course Bree does all she can to defend herself. In the end, the housekeeper is just trying to warn Bree that she was once in her shoes, and that everything went awry. (Lesson to all: cheat on your husband and you'll end up a maid?) The maid does get one awesome one-liner: "Cheating's not a sin when you do it in pearls?"

What'd you think of this week's episode? Are Katherine and her crazy antics starting to bug you? Are you more creeped out by Dominick than ever? Let's dish in the comments!

Photo copyright 2009, ABC, Inc.

Desperate Housewives Rundown, "The God-Why-Don't-You-Love-Me Blues"

Secrets came to the surface on this week's Desperate Housewives, like Katherine's obsession with sneaking into Mike and Susan's house (cuckoo!), Julie's scandalous affair - and best of all, we learn more about the mysterious Bolen family, which has me totally intrigued.

Ready to break it all down? If you don't mind spoilers, then read more.

Gaby - Gaby catches a break this week. It all starts when her daughters discover Ana's stash of condoms. Gaby confronts Ana, and she admits to her aunt that she's in love with John. (Yeah, like we didn't see that one coming.) Gaby goes to John's restaurant to confront him about the matter, and he comes on to her - right when Ana walks in. I was pretty excited about the battle that was going to go down - will she blackmail Gaby? tell Carlos? - but after Gaby reveals her history with John to Ana, she surprisingly backs off and quits her job. I don't know if I believe that this storyline is 100% over, but looks like John doesn't have a reason to stick around Wisteria Lane. Gaby really seems like she's moved on for good.

Susan - She may have tried to attack Danny last week, but this time around, Julie gets the brunt of Susan's anger. Julie finally wakes up in the hospital (yay!), but on the downside, she comes back right as Susan learns that her daughter had an affair with a married man. In typical Susan behavior, she tries to pry for details - and even searches through Julie's journal to find out that the guy is called "D." - but Julie won't admit anything. We learn who the unknown "D." is soon enough. For that, keep reading.

Angie - Angie means well. She sees that her son Danny is having a hard time at school with making friends, so she bribes Porter to throw him a shindig, so Danny can feel included. At the party, Danny sees his dad flirting with some of his classmates (perv alert), and he confronts him by saying, "I know." His dad's response? "You know what?" But I thought the horrific look on his father's face totally gave it away, didn't you? "D." is Danny's dad, Dominic, as we later discover when he visits Julie at the hospital. Uh-oh. I'm curious to hear what exactly took place in the Bolens's past - especially after seeing those scars on Angie's back.

Bree - This week was a showdown between Bree and Katherine. Katherine starts off the episode by telling Bree that she's in love with Mike still. Seems that Katherine has been sneaking into Mike and Susan's home to find out their sleeping habits, and she's convinced that they're not having sex. Bree tells Katherine to seek help for her obsession, but when Katherine tries to destroy the bride's cake at one of their catered weddings (because it was the same one she designed for her nuptials to Mike), Bree actually fires her. I'm expecting a major Katherine freak out next week. Did you see the menacing look she has at the end of the episode? Bree better lock her windows.

Lynette - Once again, Lynette had one of the funniest subplots this week. Even though no one at work knows about her pregnancy, the signs are starting to show with Lynette's breasts. While Tom likes the results (he calls them "The Supremes!"), Lynette is panicked about how to hide them. Fortunately for her, Carlos thinks she got a boob job, so Lynette goes along with the fib. So much so, that when Carlos asks her to wear a low-cut dress for a client dinner, Lynette concedes. But my favorite part was her talk with Tom when he says "I need you to not be perfect, 'cause I'm not perfect." Sigh, I love those two.

What'd you think about the episode? Where do you think the Dominic and Julie storyline is headed? Do you think Jesse Metcalfe is getting the boot soon, or will his character John stick around?

Desperate Housewives Rundown, "Never Judge a Lady by Her Lover"

Is it just me, or do the housewives seem even more desperate than usual this week? Susan takes some drastic measures to scare Danny away, which in turns sets Angie off with a few crazy antics of her own. Meanwhile, Bree's jealousy sends an innocent woman to the hospital and Lynette makes Tom look like a fool to cover up her pregnancy at a company dinner.

Jesse Metcalfe also makes his (triumphant?) return and Katherine is pretty much nowhere to be found. Ready to hash it all out? Just read more.

Gaby - Just when you thought it was safe to go back to Wisteria Lane, Jesse Metcalfe is back. Again. Both Gaby and Carlos are taken by surprise to see John at one of their restaurants of choice, especially when they learn that he's the owner. Naturally John is immediately making eyes at both Gaby and Ana, and I think we all know where this one is heading. Gaby later convinces Carlos that she doesn't have feelings for her former gardener anymore, but then she gets all nostalgic looking at photos of him. (I love that they had time to head to a photo booth during their affair - isn't the mall a little high profile for that?) One thing that really bothers me about Gaby this week is that suddenly she's all frumpy again, when she's been pretty much flawless since she and Carlos were back to being rich.

Susan - We don't get any updates on Julie's progress this week, but it's clear that her condition is taking a serious toll on Susan. Susan wastes no time spreading the word about Danny to all her neighbors, even when Mike gently reminds her that Danny hasn't been convicted yet. This leads Susan to start her own investigation for proof - which seems like a perfect opportunity for one of Susan's klutzy, over-the-top schemes, but instead takes a very dark turn when she basically tries to kill Danny herself by squishing him under a car. I give Susan a free pass for her antics this week since in the end she reaches out to Angie and starts to make amends when Danny's alibi comes through.

Angie - Angie's mama bear side really comes to the light this week. She's pretty scary trying to scare off prank calls, and even more threatening when she comes at Susan wielding a baseball bat. There are a few allusions to the Bolens' previous life (like that they change their name constantly and had to raise Danny "on the run"), but in the end Angie seems more like a protective mom with a secret than an evil person. Her husband on the other hand. . .

Bree - Despite her requests for pain au chocolat in lieu of a burrito, Bree begins to realize just how much she actually likes slummin' it with Carl. When she tells him that she's not looking for anything serious, Carl totally plays her by bringing a date to a function Bree is attending with Orson. In a matter of minutes Bree's all green-eyed about the idea of Carl taking someone else to their beloved motor lodge, and eliminates the other woman - literally. Meanwhile, Orson thinks he's making major strides and that Bree was jealous of the other woman for dancing with Orson. Though Katherine isn't around this week, I still think the whole thing will be smoothed over once she and Orson get together.

Lynette - The Scavos get to be the comic relief this week, which is refreshing after all the doom and gloom that was previously surrounding Lynette's pregnancy. The reactions she gets from her kids are priceless, particularly Porter's little speech about how she and Tom were irresponsible about birth control and are "destroying their futures." (I kinda agree about the birth control thing - may I suggest something permanent, like a vasectomy?). Right on cue, Lynette's career path is tested when Carlos admits he wants to give her a promotion after passing on another co-worker who is pregnant. Tom helps cover for her, but we all know she won't be able to hide twins for very long.

So what did you think of the episode? Are you happy to see Jesse Metcalfe again? How long until Gaby and Ana are vying for his attention?

Desperate Housewives Rundown, "Being Alive"

This week's episode of Desperate Housewives follows the residents of Wisteria Lane as they deal with the aftermath of Julie's attack. At the epicenter, Susan's friendships with the housewives are tested (though most of the betrayals happen behind her back). Meanwhile, the newest neighbors find their son on the list of primary suspects and Mrs. McCluskey lands a new love.

There were scandals all over the place this week, so to talk about it just read more.

Susan - Susan's post-wedding morning bliss with Mike is quickly interrupted by Mrs McCluskey screams. As she faces the possibility of losing her daughter, Susan turns to her friends for comfort. In typical fashion, all the ladies have got their secrets - Lynette admits that Julie confided in her, Bree is sleeping with Carl, and Katherine's throwing herself at Mike.

Lynette - Still in denial about her pregnancy, Julie's accident turns out to play a vital role in Lynette's decision-making process. I was surprised that she's seriously considering having an abortion, but relieved that Susan used her own situation to talk her out of it. Most of all, I'm glad that Lynette is facing the truth from here on in, since pretending her pregnancy isn't real was starting to get depressing.

Gaby - I'm loving Gaby's new life with a teenager. Her guidance on playing hard to get cracked me up, particularly when poor Carlos realizes how many dates Gaby broke off for no real reason. Bonding time between Gaby and Ana never lasts long though, and by the end of the episode Gaby is grounding Ana for lying to the police about Danny's alibi. Though Ana continues to push Gaby's limits, so far her actions haven't strayed far from the typical high school realm - but I'm willing to bet it won't be long before things get out of hand.

Angie - Like any good wife and mother, Angie struggles to protect her family from both the police and the scrutinizing eyes of their neighbors on Wisteria Lane. She spends most of the episode trying to prove that Danny is innocent in Julie's attack, but I'm more worried about her husband than her son.

Katherine - Katherine finds a new confidant in Orson this week, trying to convince him that she's going to get Mike back. Orson has done some questionable things in the past, but even he doesn't fall for Katherine's deluded re-telling of what happened while Susan was at the hospital. Now that Bree's moved on, how long before Orson and Katherine end up in the sack?

Bree - Bree's discovering that Carl can bring out a whole side of her she never knew she had - a bad girl side. Not only do Carl's sleazy ways turn her on, but she realizes a bit too late that she's become a bad friend to Susan. Now the real question is whether or not Julie will remember catching Bree and Carl in the act when she wakes up from her coma.

What did you think of this week's episode? Who do you think is behind the attack on Julie? (My money's still on Mr. Bolen). Are you excited to see Jesse Metcalfe's return?

Desperate Housewives Rundown Season 6 Premiere "Nice Is Different Than Good"

The season six premiere of Desperate Housewives opens with Mike's much-anticipated wedding and then takes us on a series of flashbacks to the weeks leading up to the big event.

With Edie out of the picture and a new housewife on the block, Mike's marriage isn't the only scandal happening on Wisteria Lane. To chat about the exciting season premiere, just read more.

Susan - She's been avoiding Katherine since she and Mike got back together but is forced to see her when she stops by Bree's house. Hiding behind Lynette, she manages to avoid a confrontation until a delivery man leaves Susan's wedding dress at Katherine's house, leaving her no choice but to go over and pick it up. When Susan stops by, Katherine opens the door wearing the dress - and teases her by cooking red pasta sauce dangerously close to the dress. It's obvious that Katherine is upset about the wedding, but Susan is determined that it be her special day. Susan might have more than Katherine to worry about with Julie back in town being courted by Danny, the new housewife's son.

Bree - Still estranged from Orson and toying with an affair with her divorce lawyer Carl, Bree struggles with her adulterous feelings. When Orson begs her to rethink the divorce and consider counseling, she realizes that "guilt is a small price to pay for happiness" and books a hotel room for a rendezvous with Carl - in clean sheets, of course.

Gaby - Carlos's niece Mariana is living at the house and pushing Gaby's patience. Gaby sees right through Mariana's tricks and tries to keep her teenage ways under control by monitoring what she wears to school and implementing a 10 p.m. curfew. Gaby sees a lot of her teenage self in Mariana and doesn't want her to have to go through the same struggles that she did, so she signs papers to legalize her and Carlos's guardianship over Mariana.

Lynette - Three months pregnant with twins and realizing she'll be 60 years old when they graduate from high school, Lynette is stressed out about the idea of adding two more to the family. In the waiting room at the doctor's office, she scares a young new mom-to-be out of her elation with details about saggy boobs, constant breastfeeding, and absent husbands. Later, she and Tom are together for the first ultrasound, and when she doesn't show any excitement for the babies, Tom confronts her. She breaks down and says she doesn't love the babies liked she loved their other kids. Tom assures her that once she holds them she will, but she doesn't seem too convinced.

Katherine - Crazed from losing Mike, Katherine is a mix of depressed and resentful. She and Susan still haven't spoken since the breakup, and she intends to get a public apology from Susan - at her and Mike's wedding. Susan refuses and locks her in a closet before the ceremony, but she manages to get out and meet them in the aisle after the ceremony. Even after Susan gives in and apologizes in front of the entire church, it's pretty clear that Katherine won't be letting go of her heartbreak, or resentment for Susan, any time soon.

Angie - The mysterious new housewife on the block (spitfire Drea de Matteo) brings her husband Nick and son Danny to Fairview. We see that, obviously, they left some dark past behind when we get a glimpse of some pretty gnarly scars on Angie's back. But Angie won't be the only one stirring things up since Danny seems to have a sordid past too. After he and Julie go on a date and get in a fight and he goes missing after Mike and Susan's wedding, we are left to wonder who mysteriously strangled Julie and escaped the scene.

What did you think of the season premiere? Was there enough crazy and intrigue to keep you watching another season?

Photo copyright 2009 ABC, Inc.

Desperate Housewives Rundown Episodes 23 & 24, "Everybody Says Don't/If It's Only In Your Head"

In some ways these final two hours of the fifth season of Desperate Housewives seem like one long way to wrap up Dave's story. Then again, as long as his story is all wrapped up, I guess I'm happy! They're a pretty decent two hours, though, and they set the stage for next season: Bree's divorce just got messier (and far more interesting!), Lynette gets some stunning news just as Tom's trying to go back to school, and there's a new girl on the block at the Solis house. Oh, and Mike does get married to . . . someone.

Did you catch the finale of DH? To talk about these last moments with the residents of Wisteria Lane, read more.

Susan - Maybe it's just me, but Mike Delfino doesn't seem like such a great catch. I can't figure out why the ladies always want to marry him! Katherine is just as desperate as ever to get hitched and they plan a quick Vegas wedding, even though both Mike and Susan clearly still have feelings for each other. It takes creepy, psycho Dave to basically kidnap Susan and MJ and then try and kill them for Susan and Mike to face the facts and start making out. Susan goes through a harrowing ordeal trying to keep Dave from killing his son, only to have Dave let MJ go at the last minute. Mike and Dave are in a car crash but both survive and now Dave is locked up in a mental institute and Mike is last seen kissing his bride - the identity of whom, though, is not revealed.

Bree - This storyline just gets stranger and stranger to me. Now that Orson knows of Bree's plans to divorce him, he's acting crazy and blackmailing her so that she can't throw him out of the house because he wants to work on the marriage and "has enough love" for the both of them. Yikes! Meanwhile, Karl is still fighting for Bree to regain the upper hand in the situation, but then he tells her he thinks she's fascinating (I knew this was coming!) and Karl and Bree (presumably) get it on in his office. I like this pair-up more than most on this show. Two of the show's most ambitious, ruthless characters? That's hot.

Gaby - Apparently Carlos's family is "trash," according to Gaby, and she likes to make them feel badly about themselves. It's funny when Gaby later talks about setting a good example for her girls when she's telling them to make other people feel badly about themselves, but anyway! Carlos volunteers to take in his teenage niece Ana despite Gaby's protests, and once the girl arrives Gaby realizes that she has a fine collection of nice clothes - all given to her by "boyfriends." Gaby sees all sorts of things wrong with this (and with using the smitten Scavo boys to do her chores) but Ana thinks Gaby's just jealous. I really like this character for some reason, and I'm glad they're bringing in some new blood, but there have been a lot of bad kids on this block and I hope Ana offers something a little bit different in the next season.

Lynette - When Lynette hears that Tom wants to go back to college to study Chinese, she decides that instead of talking to him about it, she'll just sabotage his chances by getting him extremely drunk the night before his entrance exam. That's what mature, grown women do, after all! She regrets it, though, when Tom reveals that he only wants to learn Chinese in order to add to his existing skill set and increase his chances of getting hired. All is well when Tom learns that despite being "still drunk" during the exam, he was accepted into the college - but Lynette gets some news of her own. She's pregnant. With twins. Again!

Photo copyright 2009 ABC, Inc.

Desperate Housewives Rundown Episode 22, "Marry Me a Little"

The theme of this week's episode of Desperate Housewives is "masks," which could, theoretically, be the theme of most DH episodes. Susan and Jackson mask the fact that their upcoming wedding isn't for love, Mike masks his lingering feelings for Susan, Tom wants a mask for real, Gaby masks her anxiety that financial ruin will find her again and Bree masks . . . well, everything from Orson. To chat about this week's episode, read more.

Susan - Susan's little plan to marry Jackson so he can stay in the U.S. hits a snag when she finds out that Mike won't be sending her alimony after she's married to another man. When she goes over to chat with Mike about it, though, she ends up spilling the beans to Katherine about her upcoming marriage of convenience. Too bad for Jackson, Dave was on the phone when Susan stopped by and heard her entire confession. Seeing the perfect opportunity to get Jackson out of the picture so he won't tell the police that he saw Dave on the night of the fire, Dave calls the authorities on Jackson and has him taken away just before he can marry Susan. Anyone a little bit tired of Dave by this point?

Bree - Karl convinces Bree to rob her own home - and she almost gets away with it. Orson sketches a picture of a Venetian mask he and Bree got on a trip and Bree starts to have second thoughts about the divorce, thinking about how much Orson does care about her. Those second thoughts are squashed by Karl, the best sleazeball divorce lawyer around, and Bree's back on track with the divorce. But then Orson takes a call for Bree from a storage facility (which seems a bit odd to me; wouldn't someone as careful as Bree not allow for the possibility that Orson would pick up a phone call from the storage facility?) where she's storing all of the stuff she "stole" - including the mask Orson was missing so much. And now Orson's on to her. . . .

Gaby - For a second week in a row, the lesson that Gaby learns comes about because she wants to teach her daughter something that she herself doesn't feel the need to learn. This time, Juanita tells Gaby she knows they're rich, so why can't she have a canopy bed? To teach her . . . something, Gaby brings Juanita to a soup kitchen where she intends to stand by while Juanita serves people. You know, I realize that they wanted to have "the old Gaby" back in full force, but she is downright heinous in this episode. At the soup kitchen she runs into an old acquaintance who has lost everything and Gaby wonders what this woman did to lose all of her money. Turns out the woman's husband died, but Gaby doesn't understand why she can't just work hard and pull herself out of the tough situation, like Gaby and Carlos did. The woman brings to light the fact that Gaby believes she's exempt from any future financial hardship because she already went through some and "did her time," in a way. Now she realizes that it can happen to anyone, anytime.

Lynette - Feeling old and irrelevant as he's being passed up for jobs by people nearly half his age, Tom decides he wants a face lift. Lynette convinces him not to get one, however, by bringing over a coworker of hers whose face lift makes him look like an alien. She then reveals she's afraid that Tom will ultimately become dissatisfied with her looks, and she doesn't want plastic surgery. In a really sweet moment, she caresses the lines on Tom's face, naming each one for something they've gone through together in their marriage.

Katherine - Katherine's desperation to get married to Mike sometimes makes me embarrassed for her. Especially now when Mike has actually proposed to her - but only because he sees Susan with her "fiancé," Jackson. But as happy as Katherine is to be engaged, she, too, understands that Mike's actions are propelled by Susan's decisions.
