David Cross, Michael Vartan to Star in Demoted

When I think of David Cross I think "ooh, funny!" (actually I think "never-nude" but that's for another conversation). When I think of Michael Vartan I think first "hot" and then "Vaughn," but never "funny!" And yet, these two will be paired up for the comedy Demoted. The Hollywood Reporter has more details:

Vartan will play Rodney McAdams, a hotshot Treadline Tires sales associate who delights in tormenting his less-than-cool colleague, Ken (Cross). But when their boss suddenly dies, Ken is promoted and assigns Rodney to a secretarial job as payback, giving the male chauvinist a taste of his own medicine.

I love to see Cross getting more work. And though these two seem strange together, maybe they'll have a great funny man/straight man thing going on. What do you think?

Grey's Anatomy Rundown, "This Magic Moment"

This week's episode of Grey's Anatomy picks up two weeks after the most recent episode, and a lot can happen in 14 days for some doctors. Meredith and Derek are settling into their life as full-time parents with Zola, and Bailey and Ben are back together in a big way. On the other hand, Teddy still hasn't come to terms with Henry's death, and Cristina is still suffering for it.

It's a very typical Grey's episode: a major surgery that's affecting all of the doctors (this time, it's conjoined twins), mixed in with some drama and a little bit of plot development. No major game-changers, but it's still a solid episode. Let's break it down when you

Protect Yourself! 8 Important Labor Laws to Know

Recently, a SavvySugar Community member talked about the possibility of her boss breaking a labor law. It's important to know what laws are to protect yourself as an employee. Here are some of the top legal rights you are entitled to as a worker:

Family and medical leave: This law requires some employers with 50 or more employees to give 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected sick leave for reasons like having a serious illness, caring for a sick family member, or becoming a new parent. You'll be guaranteed the same or an equivalent position when you return to work, and health insurance coverage (with monthly payments) will continue as usual.

COBRA: Although you might lose your health benefits through incidences such as being laid off or quitting, seeing a reduction in your work hours or transitioning to jobs because of death, divorce and other life events, you can still choose to participate in group health benefits (if you qualify) for a limited period of time.

Minimum wage: Basically, this provision is under the Fair Labor Standards Act and it prevents employers from hiring people for less than the minimum wage. Most states have enacted minimum wage laws except Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Tennessee. However, there is a federal minimum wage law of $7.25 per hour. Be aware of the fact that there are also a couple of exceptions to this law.

Glee Update: More Blaine, Less Sam in Season 3

It feels like we were just watching the New Directions at Nationals on the season finale of Glee, but the show still goes on behind-the-scenes, and there's some interesting casting news. Apparently Chord Overstreet (Sam) will only appear as a guest star, while Darren Criss (Blaine) and Harry Shum Jr. (Mike) have been promoted to series regulars.

It's no surprise that we'll be seeing more of fan favorite Blaine and his Warblers, but I didn't expect to see Sam go so soon, particularly after the heavy storyline about his homelessness. Another character who will be getting less screen time is Lauren Zizes (Ashley Fink), though I'm admittedly not as broken up about that development, since her voice isn't quite as stellar as some of the other glee club members. On the bright side, hopefully this will open the door for a few new members, but so much for a hot new romance between Sam and Mercedes. How do you feel about these casting developments?
