Liev and Naomi Are Ready For the Challenge

Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber arrived back at their apartment in NYC yesterday with their boys Alexander and Samuel before attending a premiere of his new movie Defiance at night. It's been a busy few weeks for their family with Samuel's birth in December and Liev promoting his film - and he's apparently starting to feel the strain of it all. He recently opened up about the realities of having two kids under 15 months, saying, "I am struggling, though. It’s f*ing hard. So little sleep. It’s 23 hours and 59 minutes of exhaustion. But then they do one little thing in that last minute that is just so compelling and fascinating that it makes the other 23 hours and 59 minutes worthwhile." Sounds like the two boys are exhausting and rewarding already, but Naomi and Liev look happy to have each other through it all.

Movie Preview: Defiance

Defiance has been completely off my radar, but now that I've seen the trailer with the ultra-dreamy Daniel Craig, and knowing it comes from Edward Zwick, director of Blood Diamond (not to mention Legends of the Fall), I can't wait to see the movie this autumn. The plot is this: "Three Jewish brothers (Craig, Liev Schreiber and Jamie Bell) escape from Nazi-occupied Poland into the Belarussian forest, where they join Russian resistance fighters and endeavor to build a village in order to protect themselves and others in danger." The trailer is, as you might expect, highly dramatic, dark and thrilling in a scary kind of way. To check it out for yourself,

6 Things We Already Know About Glee Season Three

When Glee comes back tonight with its third season premiere, some faces will be absent from the halls of McKinley High, and others will be planning their post-graduation exit. We know a few more details from season three, so read up and you'll know what to expect when the series returns. As an added bonus, we have a few new photos from the show to share as well!

Sam is out. After Chord Overstreet's role as Sam was scaled back to guest star, the actor declined to come back at all. At least we'll be seeing more of Blaine and Mike, because Darren Criss and Harry Shum Jr. were promoted to series regulars (and we'll also get to meet Mike's parents).
Mercedes will get a boyfriend. Since Sam is out, the secret relationship between him and Mercedes we saw in the season finale is over too. But she won't be sad and single: Friday Night Lights alum LaMarcus Tinker has been cast as Mercedes's new boyfriend.
The Cheerios are getting some old members back. Even though Quinn, Brittany, and Santana quit the Cheerios in defiance of Sue in season two, we can see by Santana and Brittany's yearbook photos that those two are back in their uniforms. The same can't be said for Quinn, who looks like she may be more into rebellion this year.
Some of the glee club is graduating. Ryan Murphy confirmed that some students, namely Rachel, Finn, and Kurt, will be graduating at the end of this year - and Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer will be be moving on for good. Season three, he said, will focus on planning what they'll be doing after high school.
It'll be lighter on the guest stars. Despite the splash that Gwyneth Paltrow, Britney Spears, and other bold-faced names made in season two, Murphy said that there won't be as many guest stars in season three. I guess Anne Hathaway will have to put her dreams of Glee guest stardom on hold.
Will and Emma are heating up again. Emma's out from under her divorce, so it looks like she and Will are ready to give it another shot in this promo, where they're puckering up. Will they actually last for more than a few episodes this time around?

After forty years in the fashion business, a unique designer such as Vivienne Westwood deserves a museum dedicated to her beloved shoe collections. We all have witnessed her adventures in tailoring that have taken us back to historical places; such as the 17^th and 18^th century French era. As the sole originator of punk style in the fashion industry, Vivienne Westwood has managed to connect the art world to her fantasy style island. To document the evolution of her footwear collections a private collector has decided to exhibit these exceptional pieces around the world. For two years these shoes will be traveling to specific locations due to their market requirements and will be displayed at various museums and palaces such as the famous Sursock Palace in Beirut. Luckily, the Lebanese media and I were one of the few that got invited for the first look at this marvelous collection.

I’m still in awe with Westwood’s capacity and her approach towards fashion. The collections dates back to 1973, which means that a lot of us didn’t get to enjoy these beauties. Now it’s our chance to admire Dame Westwood’s defiance of high heel rules with elevation and historical design footwear.

Color, Gender, and the Truth About Pink and Girls

"How do I know the color blue I see is the color blue you see?" The question was first posed to me by a nun in fifth grade, and I thought my religious education had suddenly taken a deep turn (it didn't). I've since learned the question is sort of a mockery of entry-level profundity. It's so pervasive, though, that Mad Men named episode 10 in season three "The Color Blue." When the question is posed to Don, he settles the debate with a statistic: "I know there is a blue that at least 45 percent of the population sees as the same."

He's onto something, because men and women actually do see colors the same; they just describe them differently. Author Randall Munroe was inspired by the comic (below left) mocking how many names women will have for a color that men simply call red, blue, or green. It rang so true that he put the hypothesis to the test, and the results (on the right) are less hyperbolic but no different than the cartoon.

Jezebel published a post today asking how pink became a girl's color. Except beyond gender roles, social constructs, and advertising, it does not really answer the why or when. I did a little digging and found the exact point in history when girls went pink and boys went blue. Find out below.
