Mr. Show's David Cross and Bob Odenkirk, Together Again

And now, for some news that should warm the heart of any Mr. Show fan in the universe: David Cross and Bob Odenkirk are teaming up again, this time for an HBO comedy that's going to begin shooting this spring. They confirmed on their vaguely NSFW Web site that the pilot has officially been picked up and they'll soon be working together to "make funny TV happen." Oh, yes.

Cross has said the show, tentatively titled David's Situation, is a sitcom that pokes fun at sitcoms, with him starring as a fed-up, washed-up actor who's left Hollywood for the glamorous world of in-flight magazines. He's living in a gated community somewhere with two crazy roommates, one of whom is a cranky conservative and the other of whom is a left-leaning liberal. Of course, knowing Cross, this could all be a lie, and he's actually starring in a show about a farm in outer space. Who really knows?

My favorite thing Cross has mentioned is their plain for the commercial breaks. HBO, of course, doesn't have advertising, so he and Odenkirk plan to write their own faux commercials to play during the show where normal networks would have ad breaks. Advertising parodies were always one of my favorite parts of Mr. Show, so I'm glad they'll be churning out more twisted fake propaganda soon. 5 Ways Spending Less Will Create More Happiness

Recently, New York Times columnist David Brooks wrote an op-ed piece about the “Haimish Line.” The Haimish Line is an invisible line sometimes crossed when you go from spending less to spending more - in doing so, Brooks contends, you often sacrifice warmth and connection to attain luxury and space. According to Brooks, “haimish” is a Yiddish word that suggests “warmth, domesticity and unpretentious conviviality.”

An exclusive, white-tablecloth, four-star restaurant where servers disappear and diners are on their Blackberries would be north of the Haimish Line. A small, casual diner on the corner bustling with loud conversations from neighborhood folks talking over each other would be south of the Haimish Line. A new dorm building with a shiny, new, unused lounge would be north of the Haimish Line; the well-worn lounge of ratty furniture that students veer toward would be staunchly planted south of the Haimish Line. The Haimish Line even slices across neighborhoods: densely packed urban neighborhoods where kids run home from school and and people have stoop conversations versus spread-out suburbs of isolated living in separate homes and cars.

Brooks advises that we learn to spend our money well and stay south of the Haimish Line.

I found this essay so compelling because money often buys privacy, space, exclusivity and “luxury”-all of which are the very opposite of “unpretentious conviviality.” In America, the picture of success is a bigger house (where the family is more spread out), moving to the suburbs (with more distance between neighbors), a nicer car (to be more vigilant about spills in), and flying first class (ok, so some things are not worth getting all concerned about “the Haimish Line” over).

Are Hair Extensions Causing Too Many Hairy Situations?

Countless women use extensions to get a little boost in length and volume, but in reality, are these hairy additions causing all sorts of hairy situations? New York City dermatologist Dr. Eric Schweiger seems to think so. "We have patients in their early 20s who come in after having having hair extensions for six months or a year, and they actually have bald areas of scalp," he told Good Morning America.

And while there are definitely people who experience hair loss as a direct result of extensions, many have no difficulties at all. "Everybody can wear hair extensions," explained Angelo David, owner of the Angelo David Salon in NYC, adding, "the formula is getting them to the right extension." To see more, just read on.

Interview: Christina Hendricks on Make-A-Wish, the Emmys, Latisse, and More

Christina Hendricks may be nominated for an Emmy in the outstanding supporting actress in a drama series category, but this year she's making it even more of a special event. She'll be attending the festivities on Sunday escorting 17-year-old David, a participant in the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Make-A-Wish and Latisse (for which Christina is a spokeswoman), have partnered in hopes to raise $500,000 for the charitable organization. Christina explains, "I'm encouraging people to go to latissewisheschallenge.com because for every donation of $20 or more, Latisse will match it, and it will go toward the Make-A-Wish Foundation so we can grant more wishes."

She adds, "We're trying to grant a wish in every chapter across the US. And also if you donate $20 you'll get your first month of Latisse for free - which is an added bonus."
