Anne Hathaway Lets Loose, Dances With an Oscar at Weinstein Party!

Anne Hathaway celebrated the end of a very successful Oscars hosting gig by hitting the dance floor at the Weinstein party. She grabbed onto someone's little gold man, presumably from one of the many The King's Speech wins, to show off her moves and her arm muscles with the heavy statue. Her boyfriend, Adam Shulman, watched on and joined in on the fun as onlookers snapped pictures with their phones. Anne picked her red Atelier Versace for the festivities, which was one of seven looks she wore on stage. James Franco and Anne's performance earned mixed reviews, and Buzz thinks she could have done it all on her own. James also released the full video of their Grease homage that ended up on the cutting-room floor. He apparently wasn't in the mood to hit the town last night, since he skipped his own ultra-exclusive bash to head back to school on the East Coast.

Natalie Portman brought her newly won gold to the Fox Searchlight party at the My House club following the Oscars. The company was behind her film Black Swan, so the bash was just one on Natalie's long postshow itinerary that included a stint at the Vanity Fair event with her fiancé Benjamin Millepied. Natalie stayed in her Rodarte dress throughout the evening, showing off the purple number while on stage accepting her honor and right through into the press room. The frock landed her on the show's best-dressed list, but so far your top pick is Mila Kunis's lavender Elie Saab.

127 Hours: A Vivid Picture of Determination

If you believe the hype, 127 Hours may be the hardest movie to watch this year. Reports of fainting audience members isn't great PR, but it would be a shame if anyone is deterred from seeing this fantastic, albeit intense movie from Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle.

The true story (on which the film is based) is admittedly nightmarish: in 2003, Aron Ralston slipped into a crevice while hiking in Utah, and a boulder pinned his right arm. When he could see no other options for escape, he amputated the limb in order to survive. James Franco portrays the fiercely independent Aron with the necessary intensity, and like Ryan Reynolds in Buried, his unaccompanied performance is surprisingly charismatic. From Aron's exhilarating foray into the outdoors to his terrifying accident, Franco's performance carries the feverish storyline from adventure story to triumphant drama, while Boyle's direction and cinematography create a stunning backdrop.

read more. Though the bulk of the film focuses on Aron in his prison, he's not the only actor. Costars Amber Tamblyn and Kate Mara play fellow hikers who meet Aron before his accident, and Clemence Poesy is an ex-girlfriend he pines for. These interactions with other characters illuminate who Aron is outside of survival mode; he's more than just a tough-as-nails climber who's so overconfident in his skills that he doesn't leave a note to tell anyone where he's going. Boyle's construction of Aron's relationships, flashbacks, and fantasy sequences also prevent the viewer from feeling as trapped as Aron is onscreen. Now, onto the issue most people are wondering about: the arm-cutting scene. It's definitely bloody, but it's not as difficult to watch as I had anticipated (unless the sight of blood does make you queasy, in which case, just close your eyes. You'll still get it.) When Aron comes to his inevitable conclusion, you've already experienced his trauma so intimately that you want him to do it. Not in a morbid way, but in the sense that you root for his survivalist spirit. It's a horrifying act, but it's uniquely admirable. 127 Hours is not the stressful experience you may be expecting; it's not harrowing because there's no suspense. If you know the true story, you know that Aron is going to survive. It all culminates with an ending so moving and emotionally satisfying that you may - gasp - want to see it again.

James Franco met up with his 127 Hours director, Danny Boyle, for dinner at Mr Chow last night along with the man who inspired the movie, Aron Ralston. The trio have traveled the country together promoting the film, which arrives in theaters on Nov. 5, and they've had to confront the rumors that some viewers are passing out during the scene in which James's character, Aron, has to chop off his arm to survive. At a viewing last week in NYC, James said that the dramatic reactions are to be expected, as "it's meant to be an intense, personal, immersive experience. This isn't a horror film. It's not Saw, where you go into it knowing that half the people you meet at the beginning are going to be dead by the end, so you don't form an attachment. Here, you're spending the entire movie with one guy. "

James Franco Brings His Business Back to Where He Started

James Franco joined Danny Boyle yesterday for a panel about 127 Hours during the Mill Valley Film Festival in Northern California. Their movie hits theaters in just a few weeks on Nov. 5, and a new emotional trailer for the project just came out. James and Danny spent their afternoon outside of San Francisco and not too far from James's hometown of Palo Alto, which doubles as the name of the actor's just-released book of short stories. He's doing double the promotional duty for the publication and the film, and to further fill up his schedule, James has also just taken on another directorial project.

127 Hours Trailer: Rock, James Franco, Hard Place

I'm continually baffled by the volume of work James Franco is able to churn out (seriously, does this man ever sleep?) but here we have a new look at yet another of his many projects. In Danny Boyle's 127 Hours, Franco stars as Aron Ralston, the real-life mountain climber who got stuck among boulders during an excursion in Utah. The trailer starts off like a CoverGirl commercial: easy, breezy, beautiful. Franco bikes around gorgeous landscapes, impresses some ladies with his nature skills, and takes them on an adventure to get a closer look at their surroundings.

Unfortunately, the fun doesn't last for very long. Aron gets stuck and screams for help, but no one is around to hear his cries. Thus begins the titular 127 hours of waiting, and if you're at all familiar with the news story, you know the rest isn't exactly a picnic. The film will undoubtedly give Franco yet another vehicle to show off his acting range, and I can't wait to see the finished product -no matter how much it makes me squirm. The film hits theaters on November 5, and you can watch the trailer after the jump
