Seeking a Friend For the End of the World Trailer: Steve Carell Finds Keira Knightley

In Seeking a Friend For the End of the World, Steve Carell plays Dodge, a man facing the reality that an asteroid is about the destroy the earth and he, along with everyone else, has to figure out what to do with the last three weeks of his life. For people like Patton Oswalt's character, it's sleeping with as man people as possible, but for regretful Dodge, it's love. When he meets his pixie-ish neighbor, played by Keira Knightley, she takes it upon herself to help Dodge find the girl that got away, if he helps her see her family before the world ends.

The trailer is very funny, considering its bleak subject matter (I giggled at Melanie Lynskey's character wearing all the clothes she never had a chance to wear), and Carell is the perfect leading man for the dark comedy. I'm especially curious to see what his chemistry with Knightley is like, and even though the title and what we see in the trailer implies it's just a friendship, it seems like something romantic must come up - the world is ending, after all. Alison Brie on Wedding Movies and the Possible End of Community

You probably recognize the adorable Alison Brie from her TV roles on Mad Men and Community, but the star was at the Sundance Film Festival this year to promote her new movie Save the Date. We sat down with the actress to talk about the film and her other wedding movie, The Five-Year Engagement. Though Brie kept mum about what we can expect from season five of Mad Men, she did give us an idea of how Community could come to an end, should this be the final season. Watch!

Sundance Snapshot: Bachelorette

There was more than one wedding-themed movie at Sundance this year, and Bachelorette was one of the most buzzed-about. The comedy features a ton of familiar faces, but serves up something a little different from what we've seen in the genre before.

Who's behind it? Kirsten Dunst, Adam Scott, Lizzy Caplan, Isla Fisher, and James Marsden lead the funny cast. First-time director Leslye Headland also penned the script.
What's it about? A group of high school BFFs reunite for the wedding of their friend Becky (Rebel Wilson). There's uptight, prissy Regan (Dunst), who begrudgingly accepts her role as maid of honor despite her bitterness that her less-attractive friend is getting married before her; cynical Gena (Caplan), who's determined to confront her high school ex (Scott) at the wedding; and ditsy Katie (Fisher), who is actually depressed beneath her bubbly exterior.
What did I think? Comparisons to Bridesmaids are inevitable, but the movies really are quite different. For starters, Bachelorette is darker, edgier, and has a lot less slapstick (think coke binges instead of food poisoning). Some of the more dramatic undercurrents go a bit too far, particularly Katie's downward spiral through the course of the night, which don't exactly jive with some of the cheesier, warm-and-fuzzy scenes. Though it's a bit uneven, the stellar cast makes the film entertaining, even if it's not worth a standing ovation.

Sundance Snapshot: Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg Are Adorable in Celeste and Jesse Forever

Celeste and Jesse Forever was one of the first films I checked out at Sundance this year, and I'm so glad I did. The cast, which features Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg as the titular characters, was enough to pique my interest, but the smart, relatable, script is what won me over. Here's more on what I thought of the film.

Who's behind it? The film stars Andy Samberg, Rashida Jones (who also cowrote the screenplay), Ari Graynor, Elijah Wood, and Emma Roberts. It was directed by Lee Toland Krieger.
What's it about? Jones and Samberg are Celeste and Jesse, high school sweethearts who have recently decided to separate. The only problem is that they're still BFF: he's living in her guest house, they're still spending all of their time together, and are still living in their own little world (much to the confusion of their circle of friends). Though it's clear that they're not ready to fully let go of each other, an unexpected circumstance forces them both to confront their feelings and make a final decision about their relationship.
What did I think? This movie made me laugh and broke my heart, thanks to Jones and Samberg's chemistry and performances. There are plenty of amazing jokes and one-liners, but more than that, there's a very real story and commentary about how hard it is to let go of someone you love. Jesse and Celeste are so easy to root for, but the film is careful to keep the story real rather than veering into romantic comedy territory. It's also a breakout role for Samberg, who we've mostly only seen doing straight comedy. He's still a lovable goofball here, but he also proves that he's got the chops to handle more serious material. The film was bought by Sony Pictures Classics, so keep an eye out for it in theaters in the next year.

Darling Companion Trailer: Diane Keaton Gets Cozy With a Cute Pup

In Darling Companion, Diane Keaton and Kevin Kline play husband and wife Beth and Joseph Winter, who go looking for their dog - and the strength in their relationship - in this heartfelt flick. Beth is far more concerned with her pooch Freeway than her workaholic husband, who is fully aware of where he stands in the pecking order and chooses to simply overlook it. That is, until he does the unthinkable and loses the dog. The film delves into the issues of their relationship as the entire community gets involved in the search for Beth's - you guessed it - darling companion.

The story certainly has a bit of a Marley & Me vibe, but it also has an awesome cast chock-full of talent, like Mad Men star Elisabeth Moss, along with one of our favorite guys these days, Mark Duplass. But supporting cast aside, can you ever really go wrong with some solid Diane Keaton? We think not. To check out this cute trailer, just keep reading.

Moonrise Kingdom Trailer: Bruce Willis and Edward Norton Go Retro in Wes Anderson's Latest

Ever since we heard Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola were teaming up to write a screenplay, we've been patiently waiting for the trailer to present itself. Today, we finally got a taste of what Moonrise Kingdom has in store. And although it's live-action flick, Anderson's latest feels a lot more like Fantastic Mr. Fox than The Royal Tenenbaums. Set in a dreamy 1960s haze, 12-year-olds Suzy and Sam fall in love and plot to run away together deep into the New England forest. (This should prove to be no issue since Sam is a Khaki Scout, and his troop leader is Edward Norton.)

In true Wes Anderson fashion, there's an all-star cast with the usual suspects like Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray, along with some new names like Tilda Swinton, Bruce Willis, and Frances McDormand. Everything about this trailer is romantic and quirky, sweeping us off to another world, presented in a way only Anderson can pull off. To see what I mean,

Friends With Kids Trailer: Jon Hamm, Maya Rudolph, and More Take Friends With Benefits to New Heights

If you loved seeing Jon Hamm and Kristen Wiig as friends with benefits in Bridesmaids, then you'll definitely want to see them together again as newlyweds in the trailer for Friends With Kids. They're not the titular parents though; that would be Adam Scott and Jennifer Westfeldt (who also wrote and directed the film), as a pair of platonic friends who decide to have a baby together without being in a relationship (a "50 percent commitment," if you will.) Naturally, their circle of friends (which also includes Maya Rudolph and fellow Bridesmaids star Chris O'Dowd) don't exactly understand their progressive situation.

The preview didn't have me laughing out loud, but you'll never hear me complaining about seeing Adam Scott in a leading role, or revisiting so many of the amazing cast members from Bridesmaids. I'm even looking forward to seeing Megan Fox in something a little more toned-down, as a love interest for Adam Scott. The movie hits theaters in March, but get a peek at the trailer when you

LOL Trailer: Miley Cyrus Laughs Out Loud in High School and Paris

In LOL, Miley Cyrus stars as Lola, who goes by the nickname of "Lol," so the title isn't just reflective of her generation's love for and reliance on technology. But cell phones, IMs, and texting do play a big part here, as Lola and her friends navigate high school and its profusion of boys and partying. Of course, no high school movie is complete without a disapproving parent, and Lola's mom (Demi Moore) certainly doesn't endorse Lola's misbehavior, which includes failing her classes. Lola eventually gets to go to France for some reason, and things with her mom start to look up.

LOL in general seems achingly cheesy (it's not helped by voice-over lines like "she's at that special age when hearts are broken"). That said, I probably would have liked it when I was Lola's age; the trailer is bubbly and light, and worth it to watch for the costume changes and man candy (and to see if you can pick out the very brief glimpse of Ashley Greene). There's no release date set yet, but you can watch the trailer after the break.
