Fox Announces Family Guy Spinoff: Cleveland

It looks like Cleveland Brown, neighbor to Family Guy's Peter Griffin, will be the star of his own show. Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane, along with Cleveland's voice actor Mike Henry and former Simpsons writer Rich Appel are collaborating on the project, tentatively titled Cleveland.

As Hollywood Reporter puts it, "Cleveland, who plays off black stereotypes, is the most levelheaded among Griffin's trio of friends." That's for sure. In fact, I'm probably more likely to tune into this spinoff than I am to watch Family Guy these days, as I sometimes get tired of Peter Griffin's outrageousness.

Cleveland seems like an ideal choice for a show's main character; as the gentle, slow-speaking, everyman, there's probably a lot of funny stuff to be found in his life.

"30 Rock" Goes to Cleveland

Someone over at "30 Rock" must really love Cleveland. On this week's episode, Liz and her boyfriend, Floyd, left busy New York behind for a trip to the idyllic Ohio city, where sweet Midwestern folks asked Liz if she's a model and a kind cop let Liz pet his horse. Twilight Leads the People's Choice Awards Nominations

The 36th annual People's Choice Awards nominees are here, and last year's Twilight is leading the charge! American Idol's Kris Allen was among the announcers this morning for the nominees, which also include lots of nods for The Proposal - but of course, everyone's favorite bloodsucking love story landed in many categories, including favorite on-screen movie team.

Why didn't they look to 2009's New Moon? Because last year's nominations debuted before the first movie in the Twilight saga.

Buzz In: What is Your Favorite Old-School TV Show?

TV Land, home to classics like The Brady Bunch, Three's Company, and Bonanza, is branching out into original comedies. The network just announced that they're developing two scripted shows, titled Hot in Cleveland and Retired at 35. But will people actually flip to the channel to check out this new programming?

Personally, the older shows are the only reason I'd tune into TV Land. I used to be obsessed with I Love Lucy as a kid - I even had a Lucy calendar hanging up in my room. Thanks to Nick at Nite, I could watch it on a regular basis, along with Bewitched, The Dick Van Dyke Show, and Mary Tyler Moore. (I live for Rhoda!) Now, Nick at Nite plays mainly 90s favorites like Home Improvement and Family Matters, so TV Land has become my vintage channel of choice. Hopefully they won't go the way of MTV with music videos and make the older shows completely obsolete - that would just be sad.

Admittedly, I'm a bit of a dork when it comes to classic TV, but tell me, what is your favorite old-school show?

Fall TV Scorecard: What's In, What's Out, and What's in Danger

It's a tough life for a freshman TV series, and every Fall some new shows have to get cut - but on the bright side, others are given a vote of confidence and picked up for a full season. We're at the end of October now, and most of the networks have made their big decisions, so here's a rundown on what shows are in, out, or balancing on the edge.

What's In
At NBC, Parks and Recreation, Community, and Mercy have all been picked up for full seasons, as have CBS shows The Good Wife and NCIS: Los Angeles and ABC's The Middle, Cougar Town, FlashForward, and Modern Family.

Over on The CW, ratings-winner The Vampire Diaries has been given an entire season. Fox's newbies have fared very well, with pop culture phenomenon Glee having gotten an early pickup, while The Cleveland Show got a full season before it premiered, and has already been granted a second season. On HBO, Bored to Death has gotten a second as well.

But not everyone has been so lucky; to see which shows have been canceled and what's in danger, just read more.

What's Out

Despite backing from Ashton Kutcher, The Beautiful Life got axed by The CW after just two episodes, and A&E's Benjamin Bratt vehicle The Cleaner is out too. But it's not all bleak news; though NBC oversaw Southland's surprise cancellation, the show may be getting a second chance from TNT.

Danger Zone

These newer shows haven't been canceled, but that's no guarantee of safety. Melrose Place did get picked up for more episodes - but only an 18-ep season (sister show The Vampire Diaries got 22). Dollhouse is being benched for all-important November sweeps, leaving its fate unclear. And struggling shows The Forgotten, Accidentally on Purpose, and Hank haven't been picked up or axed yet, but the lack of news isn't promising.

It's interesting seeing the season's hits and misses - you guys had some correct predictions for pickups and cancellations, but are you surprised by anything overall?
