Christopher Mintz-Plasse might be one of the nicest guys in Hollywood, but the actor is on a streak playing bad guys lately, the latest of which is the vampire Evil Ed in Fright Night. Christopher chatted with us at a junket for the movie in Beverly Hills recently, where he filled us in on the painful hair and makeup his transformation from human to bloodsucker required. Fright Night Trailer: Colin Farrell Takes a Bite Out of Teens

Colin Farrell showed up paunchy and bald in the recent Horrible Bosses trailer, but in the preview for Fright Night he's looking a whole lot better . . . even though he may be dead. In the remake of the '80s horror flick, Farrell plays a vampire named Jerry (Jerry? Not the sexiest bloodsucker name, but OK) who moves in next door to Charley (Anton Yelchin), a high school student who's too busy thinking about his girlfriend to notice that some of his classmates are disappearing.

He's forced to take notice by his friend Ed (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), and pretty soon Jerry has his teeth pointed at Charley, his girlfriend, and Charley's mom (Toni Collette). Charley then suits up as a vampire slayer to go head-to-head against Jerry and protect everyone from the new vampire in town. Fright Night is just the latest movie to capitalize on the sizzling hotness of vampires, but this actually looks like clever and cool - if anything, the Jerry/Charley showdown will be a fun fight to the finish. Now that the world has seen controversial comic-based movie Kick-Ass, I thought I'd revisit some of the more interesting things that the cast told me when we chatted at Wondercon. Here are the five best tidbits from my interviews with Chloe Moretz, Aaron Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Clark Duke!

5) Chloe Moretz got into the action: "I did all my own stunts, except for running up the wall and crazy stuff like that."

4) If he were offered another action film, Christopher Mintz-Plasse would like to portray a girls' toy: "Is Bratz considered an action movie? I'd want to be one of the Bratz girls."

Kick-Ass: Ultra Violent, Ultra Fun

By now you may have heard that Kick-Ass isn't your average comic book-based movie. Instead of your friendly neighborhood heroes who only want to help the innocent, you have a cast of superpower-free renegades who shouldn't be anyone's hero - yet each and every player in Kick-Ass manages to win you over, one filthy word at a time.

Relative unknown Aaron Johnson stars as nerdy, awkward Dave Lizewski (AKA Kick-Ass), a guy who wonders why no regular person has ever tried to be a superhero. Determined to be the first, he puts on a cheap scuba suit and tries his hand at combating crime. Soon, he finds out that he's not the only masked avenger in town when the true badasses - Hit Girl and Big Daddy - come out to play. Played by Nicolas Cage and Chloe Moretz, the father-and-daughter pair are the real fighters who are after crime boss Frank D'Amico.

read more. I issue my recommendation for this movie with a hearty warning: there's a lot of language that may be offensive and many graphic, gruesome scenes. Where predecessors like Spider-man engage in clean, fast, almost hygienic violence, Kick-Ass uses heavy doses of blood and creative modes of killing. But as someone who has a weak stomach for this kind of thing, I say it's worth it. The movie is so much fun and so terribly funny, while still pulling off complete originality. Director Matthew Vaughn has a clear, consistent vision, which includes a vibrant aesthetic. But if I'm assigning kudos, in truth, it all goes to the cast. I can't say enough about Moretz, who has no problem going from giggling schoolgirl to terrifying assassin - all with the dirtiest mouth in the movie. Her performance is stunning, standout, and passionate. It's also nothing less than a triumphant turn for Nicolas Cage, who put a smile on my face each time he uttered his lines. I can't forget about Christopher Mintz-Plasse, though; once only known for his Superbad role, he's left McLovin' behind and impresses as the eager but conflicted Red Mist. It may not be appropriate for all audiences, but for those who are looking for an edgy and exhilarating experience at the movies, Kick-Ass is not to be missed.

Movie Preview: Kick-Ass, Starring McLovin'

Everyone was rumbling about director Matthew Vaughn's pet project, Kick-Ass, at Comic-Con this year, and now we finally get a peek at the official trailer. For those of you who aren't fanboys, let me explain: The film is based on the Marvel comic about a loner teenage boy (Aaron Johnson) who decides to become a superhero - despite the fact that he doesn't have any actual powers. That's when he teams up with Damon Macready (Nicolas Cage) and his daughter, Mindy (Chloe Moretz), aka "Hit Girl." ('Cause, you know, she's an 11-year-old hitman.) Christopher "McLovin'" Mintz-Plasse also plays a role in their posse as "Red Mist."

I've heard it's a cheeky slant on the superhero genre, but that it's also pretty gory. The trailer seems to balance the line between a fun teen underdog tale and an assassin-style takedown, which will be incredibly entertaining to watch if done right. We don't get to see Cage's face in the preview, but Clark Duke (Dale from Greek) is in there! Gerard and Jamie Prove They're Law Abiding Citizens in LA

Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx hit the red carpet to premiere their new movie Law Abiding Citizen in LA last night. Gerard posed solo and stopped to sign autographs for waiting fans, while Jamie and costar Regina Hall snuggled up for photographers. Although the two men play adversaries on screen, Gerard and Jamie looked quite buddy-buddy as they joked and laughed their way to the afterparty. Gerard joked about his butt-baring scenes in the movie which could help attract a more co-ed audience to check the psychological thriller.
