Unsurprisingly, Kanye West has a few things to say about the situation at Bonnaroo where he didn't take the stage for his show until 4:30 a.m., Billboard reports.
Bravo will air a one-off special based on Tommy Hilfiger and George Lois' book Iconic America, writes Variety.
According to Zap2It, Simon Cowell will produce a movie titled One Chance, based on the story of Paul Potts, who became an "international music sensation" after appearing on Britain's Got Talent.
Chris Carter, director of the upcoming X-Files movie, has written and started directing his own movie called Fencewalker, reports ComingSoon.
Saturday Night Live will reair its first-ever episode, hosted by George Carlin, as a tribute to the comedian; details are at The Futon Critic.

PaleyFest: Mad Men and X-Files Close Out the Week

The Paley Festival has officially wrapped up its two-week stand in Los Angeles, closing out its run with panels featuring the creators of The X-Files and the cast and creative team behind Mad Men. While I'm sorry I couldn't be there for myself, at least there are video highlights to share!

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson didn't attend Wednesday night's X-Files panel, but that doesn't mean there wasn't scoop to be had about the upcoming movie. A new trailer premiered during the panel, but it's since been pulled down from YouTube (come on, Fox, please?). E! has interviews with producers Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz. The Futon Critic has a liveblog of the event, and The Hollywood Reporter has its own account. A couple of tidbits:

The movie doesn't have a title yet - or rather, Carter knows what he wants to call it, but whether that becomes the official title is still in Fox's hands.
The producers just kind of figured out the show's mythology as they went along. The movie, meanwhile, will be more "monster of the week," less aliens.
The issue of whether Scully's baby is normal "will not go unconsidered" in the movie.

Mad Men closed out the festival on Thursday, and The Futon Critic gamely produced yet another liveblog. The Hollywood Reporter, meanwhile, wrote that the panelists seemed giddy about their success. Even the show's creator seemed a bit taken aback by all the praise his series has received. Some highlights:

Try as I might, I can't get used to seeing Jon Hamm anything less than completely clean-shaven. He proudly said (as you can see in the video below) that his show's not a guilty pleasure; it's just a pleasure, period.
The biggest spoiler that show creator Matthew Weiner was willing to reveal about the second season: "It's still in the 60s." Heh.
Weiner also talked a lot about how some of the magic in the show lies not in revealing things but in intentionally not revealing them - whether secrets or cleavage.

WonderCon 2008: Chatting With Mulder and Scully From X-Files

Day 2 of WonderCon brought one of my favorite shows back to life when thousands of X-Files fans packed Moscone south to chat with stars Gillian Anderson, my fave geeky man David Duchovny, as well as writers Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz. Indulging us with some juicy bits about the upcoming movie, their feelings about re-entering the lives of Mulder and Scully, and insights to their own upcoming projects was the highlight of the convention for yours truly.

Thankfully, I got a seat relatively early, cause the place filled up quickly! I had almost forgotten how much I loved the show, and by the looks of things the new movie - due out this July - will be a hit with the fans. Fans which lined-up by the hundreds to ask the stars and writers some burning questions.

When asked why the X-Files sequel is worth the wait, Chris Carter says that "It will scare the pants off you. And you'll get to see Mulder and Scully in a whole new way."
On getting back into their rolls as Mulder and Scully, Gillian said "I had a really bad first couple of days. I thought it would be easy stepping back into it. But I sucked. I just sucked. It was harder than I thought."
David agreed by saying, "I felt the same way. I thought it was going to be simple, like I can do this. But it was hard."
When asked if there were any narratives or themes that she would have like to have seen on the show, Gillian revealed that she would like to have seen Mulder explore "Auto Erotic Asphyxiation." Kinky, indeed!
Chris Carter revealed that Amanda Peet will play a FBI Secret Agent in the film, and rap artist Xzibit will play an important role as well.
Gillian's own project, "Speed of Light" is coming! She promised!

The X-Files Sequel: Fewer Aliens, More Ghosts

Not only did some new production stills come out today for the X-Files sequel, but new details about the plot have been revealed. Or, more specifically there are details about what's not going to be included in the next X-Files movie: mythology.

According to USA Today, this next movie "will dump the long-running 'mythology' plotline - that aliens live among us and are part of a colonizing effort - that made it one of the most popular television shows in the late 1990s but ultimately drove away some viewers who found it too complex and ambiguous." Series creator Chris Carter is quoted as saying "We want a stand-alone movie, not a mythology conspiracy one."

What does this mean, exactly? To find out,

Carter is remaining mum on any and all plot specifics, though there's mention of the stand-alone episodes that aired and didn't have to do with the long-running story, episodes that centered on "cults, ghosts, psychics and ancient curses." The hope is that focusing the movie on this sort of thing will attract a wider audience than just the show's core fan base. For fans, filmmakers think the Mulder-Scully relationship will still be a big draw. Carter claims the duo had "an intellectual romance that's very rare and restrained compared to so many relationships on TV. I think that's what appealed most to the fans."

Beyoncé Bundles Up Baby Blue For a Second Public Outing

Beyoncé Knowles cradled baby Blue Ivy Carter in an animal-print wrap on Sunday as they strolled NYC. It was the second time the new mom took her daughter out on the town over the weekend. On Saturday, Beyoncé and Jay-Z were photographed with their little one outside of their home for the first time, as the family of three stopped at Sant Ambroeus in the West Village for some Italian food.

Jay-Z and Beyoncé chose to skip the Academy Awards festivities this weekend and stay close to their East Coast homebase with Blue Ivy. Beyoncé and Jay made the Oscars scene together back in 2007, the year her Dreamgirls was nominated for several awards, and she also took the stage at the show in 2009 to sing with Hugh Jackman. Despite their absence this year, many of Beyoncé and Jay's famous friends, including Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow, were on hand for Hollywood's biggest night. Thousands of cookbooks were published in the last year, but which ones are really worth buying? The International Association of Culinary Professionals, or IACP, tackled the question as it announced its cookbook award finalists for 2012 today.

Among them: plenty of cookbooks from top restaurant chefs, like Jean-Georges Vongerichten, John Besh, and Andrew Carmellini, as well as new books from reputed publications such as Fine Cooking and Cook's Illustrated.

Cookbook winners will be announced on April 2 in an award ceremony hosted by Mo Rocca, where the honor of best cookbook of 2012 will also be announced. To see the entire list of award winners, keep reading.

Announcing the 2012 Grammy Award Nominations

For the second year in a row, the Recording Academy has given a hip-hop artist the most Grammy nominations. Last year, it was rapper Eminem with eight, and this year, Kanye West leads the nominees with seven chances at the golden gramophone, including a song of the year nod for "All of the Lights." West is also nominated twice in the rap album of the year category for his collaboration with Jay-Z on Watch the Throne and his own album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Brit crooner Adele wasn't far behind Kanye, picking up six nominations for her album 21, as well as a shot at song of the year with "Rolling in the Deep."

Bruno Mars also did well, racking up six nominations (that's down one from last year for those keeping track), while newcomers like Nicki Minaj and dubstep artist Skrillex are up for the best new artist category. Captain America: The First Avenger

Chris Evans stars as Steve Rogers, a weakling who participates in a government experiment that transforms him into super soldier Captain America. Armed with his newfound powers, he fights on behalf of the US Army to stop German forces - all while finding the time to romance soldier Peggy Carter (Haley Atwell). The film has all the perks of a superhero movie, like intense fight and chase scenes, plus a relatable story about an underdog that's touching without being sappy. DVD extras include deleted scenes and featurettes, including a behind-the-scenes look at Chris Evans's transformation into a superhero.

After serving a prison sentence for selling an exercise product that caused bodily harm, inventor and infomercial personality Robert Axle (Kevin Spacey) finds his once foolproof pitches are out of step with the latest technology. He struggles to rebuild his fortune hawking his latest product, all while trying to reconnect with his ex-wife Lorraine (Virginia Madsen) and daughter Claire (Camilla Belle). While Spacey gives a good performance, the movie misses a lot of comedic opportunities. The DVD includes a behind-the-scenes featurette about the making of the film.

Gwyneth Paltrow Tells Elle Chris Martin Doesn't Want His Fans Envisioning a "Lame Famous Couple"

Gwyneth Paltrow wore two different black looks for the September 2011 cover of Elle magazine. She's in the issue chatting up her role in the star-studded movie Contagion, which opens on Sept. 9. Gwyneth also touched on her other work, like her recurring role on Glee, foray into music, and writing GOOP. She shared some advice pal Beyoncé Knowles gave her before the Grammys and discussed why she decided to share workout tips in her e-newsletter. Gwyneth also made a rare comment about her husband Chris Martin, divulging why they keep their marriage out of the spotlight. Gwyneth said:

On Beyoncé's help for the Grammys: "This story always makes me cry. . . . It’s 10 in the morning and Beyoncé schleps it all the way down to the Staples Center to watch. I mean, she’s Beyoncé! . . . Beyoncé's like, 'OK. The singing is great. But you’re not having any fun.' She’s like, 'Remember when we’re at Jay’s concert and Panjabi MC comes on and you do your crazy Indian dance? Do that. Be you!'"
On sharing her workouts: "It’s so much easier to sit home and not exercise and criticize other people. What I love is inspiring people. People come up to me and say, ‘I want to have two kids and wear a bathing suit and not feel terrible about myself. I see how hard you work and it makes me feel like I can do that too.'"
On rumors she and Chris broke up: "Sometimes it’s hard being with someone for a long time. We go through periods that aren’t all rosy. I always say, life is long and you never know what’s going to happen. If, God forbid, we were ever not to be together, I respect him so much as the father of my children. Like, I made such a good choice. He’s such a good dad. You can never be relaxed or smug and think, ‘I’ve got this thing.’ That’s also part of it: keeping yourself on your toes. I’m not going to take this for granted."
On keeping her marriage private: "He makes music for his fans, and he doesn’t want people to conjure a lame famous couple when they’re getting into his music. I get it."

Captain America's Hayley Atwell Reveals What It Was Like to Grope Chris Evans's "Man Boob"

As military woman Peggy Carter in Captain America, Hayley Atwell is much more of a heroine than a classic damsel in distress. We recently spoke with Hayley about taking on the role, which marked her first time working on a big-budget action movie, and what surprised her about Captain America himself, Chris Evans. Hayley talked about getting physical with Chris on set, helping to create her character's gorgeous World War II-era look, and whether Peggy might be making a return in The Avengers. Here are some highlights:

On what surprised her about Chris: "He’s a really good musician and a good singer and a really good dancer, too. So I think I was surprised at that, because a lot of the things I’d seen pictured him as a kind of goofy jock. Kind of a strong, masculine guy. And there’s a lot more to Chris that will be revealed, I’m sure, in his career. He’s a very, very talented young man."

On groping Chris's chest in one scene: "That was an instinctive moment. I literally couldn’t help myself, because I hadn’t seen him with his top off until that moment. I mean…go for the man boob! And Joe loved it, he was like, do that again! So we ended up doing lots of takes just to see how far we could go, and then got a little bit over the top. There was the touching of the nipple, and it became like a Saturday Night Live sketch. It was kind of ridiculous. Really corny."

On this being her first action role: "I was kind of looking to do something different. I’ve done quite a few period dramas, so I was like, 'Yes! I’ve got an action film...Oh, f*ck, it’s a period again! Will I ever break away?' [Laughs] I had a general meeting with Joe [Johnston, the director], for about an hour, just talking about everything but the script. So, I came away going, 'Well, I’ve made a friend, but I don’t think I’ve got the job.' And then after that, I did various auditions and a screen test. It was all day, and they’d hired a crew, and they’d hired makeup and hair and costume. I had to learn eight pages of dialogue, then I had half an hour to learn an unarmed fight scene, and then I also had to show loading and unloading various guns. I loved them, but I’d never played with them before!"

On why Peggy couldn't be a damsel in distress: "She’s in a position where, if she was like that, she wouldn’t be working. And when she goes, 'I know what it’s like to have a few doors slammed in my face,' I think because she’s this attractive woman. She’s kind of had to fight a little harder to get where she is, to prove that she is capable. And I think that’s great because also, there’s a kindred spirit between her and Steve [Captain America]. There’s an equality about them, and I love that."

On how she helped create Peggy's look: "We settled on the idea that women at that time, especially compared to now, seemed to spend so much more time on their appearance. Making sure they looked immaculate but very, very sophisticated. I think Peggy is someone whose self-respect comes through in how crisp and white her shirts are, and how perfect her lipstick is applied, and it’s part of the perfectionism in her as a military person who still has a lot to prove. There’s an amazing book of all these fabulous headshots of all the greats; Ava Gardner and also Katherine Hepburn in particular, were two images that stuck out for me. There’s a beauty now that exists where lots of people seem to look the same, and back then, there was a personality in the beauty of the women.

On whether she might appear in The Avengers "I don’t know if I can give away that kind of information! I actually don’t know, no one’s called me or contacted me, so honestly..."

On how well Chris balanced his alter-egos in the movie: "He has the same kind of qualities at the beginning of the film and when he goes through the transformation. And I think what’s great is, early Steve and Captain America Steve, they both have the naivete and vulnerability, and that’s the thing Peggy fought for, and Peggy likes him for him. When she pulls out his picture at the end, it’s skinny Steve that she looks at and gets teary over."
