What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday

All of the new DVD releases hit stores (and Netflix) on Tuesdays. So each week in What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday, I sort through the best of the batch and tell you what to add to your queue. In addition to my selections below you can now add High School Musical 3, Flash of Genius, Religulous, and How to Lose Friends and Alienate People to your queue.

Changeling
If you're trying to catch all the Oscar-nominated performances before the big night, now's your chance to see Angelina in her award-worthy role in Changeling. Here's the Netflix plot description in case you forgot: "Christine Collins (Angelina Jolie) is overjoyed when her young kidnapped son Walter is brought back home. But when Christine suspects that the Walter who was returned to her isn't her actual child, the police captain (Jeffrey Donovan) has her committed to an asylum. John Malkovich co-stars as the crusading reverend who comes to Christine's rescue in this gripping, 1920s-set drama helmed by ace director Clint Eastwood."

I'm glad to see they dispensed of that creepy movie poster for the DVD cover. Extras include featurettes titled "Partners in Crime: Clint Eastwood and Angelina Jolie" and "The Common Thread: Angelina Jolie Becomes Christine Collins."

read more. Body of Lies Ridley Scott fans will have a good time with this political thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe. The two talented actors play CIA operatives trying to find a major terrorist leader by working with the Jordanian secret police. It's a timely, action-packed tale of espionage that might even make you think. Special features include commentary by director Ridley Scott, screenwriter William Monahan and original novel author David Ignatius, and a featurette titled "Actionable Intelligence: Deconstructing Body of Lies."
Choke I'm excited to see Sam Rockwell star in this adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk's darkly comedic novel. Rockwell plays Victor Mancini, a guy who works at a Colonial-era theme park, frequents Sex Addicts Anonymous meetings to hit on women, and lies about being a choke victim to make money for his ailing mother (Anjelica Huston). He doesn't appear to be what we generally describe as a "winner" which makes it all the more intriguing to me. Special features include audio commentary with director/writer/actor Clark Gregg and Rockwell, deleted scenes, a gag reel, and "A Conversation with Clark Gregg and Chuck Palahniuk."

Movie Preview: Choke

Hey, all you fans of Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk - the trailer from the movie adaptation of his fourth book Choke is tonally what one might expect from him: quite dark and post-modern in its despair, with an odd, social outcast as the main character. Oh, and funny, of course. Also, just like Fight Club, there are group therapy scenes as this character is a bit of a sex addict.

The movie received a lot of good buzz coming out of this year's Sundance Film Festival, even winning the Special Jury Prize. The film hits theaters August 1 and stars Sam Rockwell, Anjelica Houston, and an actress I'm always excited to see onscreen again (especially after her performance in No Country for Old Men), Kelly Macdonald.

Hamlet 2, American Teen Among First Big Deals at Sundance

Buying started slow at Sundance this year, but things started picking up on Tuesday. Check out a rundown of some recent acquisitions:

Hamlet 2, which stars Steve Coogan as a high school drama teacher, sold to Focus Features for $10 million - making it one of the biggest deals ever in the history of Sundance and putting it in the same league as Little Miss Sunshine. I didn't get to see this one, though the screenings for it at Sundance have been packed.
Another one of the first non-documentary feature films to be picked up was Henry Poole Is Here, which sold for about $4 million on Monday night. I couldn't be happier about this one; it's an uplifting story with some fine performances - particularly by Luke Wilson and Adriana Barraza. It even includes one of my new favorite movie lines.

The documentary American Teen was another hot property, selling to Paramount Vantage for $1 million. I was actually at a morning screening for this when the news of this acquisition broke, which was very exciting. The documentary was made by filmmaker Nanette Burstein and follows four teens at an Indiana high school throughout their senior year. During the Q&A after the screening, Burstein said she chose a school in the Midwest because she felt there was "an innocence and a timelessness" to that area. Stay tuned for more of my thoughts on this film!
The black comedy Choke, based on Chuck Palahniuk's novel, sold for about $5 million.

If you haven't added a play table to your toy collection, we highly recommend it! A combo of activities means extra playtime for kids of all ages, and when you invest in a slightly more expensive, but doubly sturdy wooden table, even cruisers can join in on the fun, as the table gives new standers support while they explore. Just be sure to supervise, as small pieces have a way of making their way into tiny mouths (I removed any choking hazards for my lil one). Play tables come in all shapes and sizes, but we picked five of our favorites, all sure to become heirlooms.

What to Skip When Shopping For Baby

By the last few months of every woman’s third trimester, she’s inevitably faced with one of life’s most intimidating situations: baby shopping.

No matter whether you had your most recent child years ago or are currently expecting, I’m sure you’re familiar with the situation.

You walk into your local baby store brimming with excitement and confidence, ready to stock up for your little one. Ten minutes later, after seeing floor-to-ceiling walls of bottles, swaddling blankets, baby food containers and strollers of every variety, that confidence plummets. Keeping your baby’s bottles germ-free is the best way to prevent infection and upset tummies. It fits all size bottles, takes up no space and sterilizes your feeding accessories in the microwave in three minutes.

Grey's Anatomy Rundown, "Heart-Shaped Box"

The doctors of Seattle Grace take a stroll down memory lane this week on Grey's Anatomy when George O'Malley's mother, Louise, returns as a patient. While it's been awhile since George's mere name was uttered through the hospital halls, as Alex so insensitively points out, her presence brings forth tender memories that most of the doctors would rather not think about.

A miracle also arrives in the form of a box - a pumping heart in a box, to be exact. The live organ is harvested for transplant but becomes sort of a career whisperer for Cristina and Jackson. With Mama O'Malley back in the mix and the powers of the heart in the box, I thought this episode lightly tugged on the heartstrings but could have been way more emotional. Though, I really loved how Callie "came out" to her ex-mother-in-law. Ready to break it down? Just keep reading.

Grey's Anatomy Rundown, "Take the Lead"

It's time to step up on Grey's Anatomy this week, as the fifth-year residents lead the surgeries for the first time. The milestone affects the doctors in different ways: Karev loses his cool, Avery chokes, and Cristina forgets what to do altogether. On the other hand, Meredith comes out on top despite her personal issues, but pays the consequences with Derek after the surgery.

Overall, it's not a particularly drama-heavy episode (aside from the show's central couples making strides back to normalcy), but let's get into it when you read more.
