For the upcoming "more mature" remake of
Footloose, we've already
met our lead male (the year's
hottest bachelor, Chace Crawford), who will take over the memorable role originally played by Kevin Bacon. Now they've found Chace a
leading lady in Julianne Hough, a country singer and professional dancer on
Dancing With the Stars.
The news piece doesn't go into details but I'm assuming Hough will play Ariel, the defiant and fiercely stubborn minister's daughter who befriends the new kid in town, Ren McCormack (especially after he takes part in a rousing game of Chicken with tractors).

I can't wait to see this! I've never really liked the original, but I love these two and I think they'll do great together. It'll be fun to see Julianne play someone with a rebellious streak. We always see her as the sweetheart on tv or in concerts.
1well that's going to be interesting. julianne is really making a name for herself these days isn't she?
2i like julianne...but i'm not convinced she can act. i feel like she will out dance chace! we all know in the movie that ren has some serious dance moves and i don't think chace will keep up.
i want to see this, but i hope it doesnt suck!

6i think it's quite a wise move to cast a person who's unknown as an actress when she's pairing up with chace.

7I'm not too hyped about this movie...there's nothing wrong w/the original, that will always be a classic (I loved SJP in it), why remake? I will pass...
8This movie is now officially a pass for me...I'm sure the dance scenes will be great, but I don't think it will be enough to save this remake
9I'm really excited for the movie and I'll probably watch it so I can wait for the pictures and posters and everthing start.
10Now I'm officially gonna pass on this movie, unless the trailer makes it seem REALLY good. I thought the point of remaking Footloose was to model it after the musical version, so at least it would be a little different than the original. Otherwise I don't see the point...Footloose only came out in the '80s! At least it made sense when Zac Efron was attached, I'm not crazy about him but at least he can sing & dance. I don't care for Chace and Julianne that much.

12This is a pass for me too. I so sure this movie is going to be terrible.
13I can see her in this movie I am just having a hard time picturing Chace in this role.
14I was on the fence about wanting to see this movie, but I'm definitely NOT now. I've only seen Julianne in TV interviews and she's really annoying....pass for me as well.
15I can't wait! I love both of them, and I think that they'll both do a great job and surprise us.
