Bridges, Gyllenhaal, and Duvall Get a Little Bit Country

A blockbuster superhero movie can certainly get the casting directors interested: Both Jeff Bridges (Iron Man) and Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Dark Knight) will have won over critics and audiences alike come Summer's end, and now they've added another project to their schedules. Along with Robert Duvall, the two will star in a "music-based drama" based on a book by Thomas Cobb titled Crazy Heart.

The good news. . .
That cast! Love Bridges, love me some Maggie and of course Duvall is a class act, so there you go. Also, the story sounds a little generic, but I'm still curious about it. Variety has the details:

Story centers on a down-on-his-luck, alcoholic country music singer (Bridges) who is able to get his life and career back on track through his relationship and experiences with a female reporter (Gyllenhaal).

The part that makes me wonder. . .
Jeff Bridges is going to perform original songs by famed country producer T Bone Burnett in the film - but can he sing? And can he sing country music? I'm interested to see that. The movie is also being produced by CMT Films which has had a hand in the existence of Toby Keith's Beer for My Horses. So. . .yeah.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban Share a Sunday Stroll With Their Daughter

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban held onto 3-year-old Sunday's hands during a stroll around NYC's SoHo neighborhood yesterday. Their youngest daughter, Faith, didn't join the trio for the shopping trip, which apparently included a stop by a pet store. Faith's first birthday on Dec. 28 will wrap up an exciting 2011 for the family of four that included Keith's world tour, Nicole's many movie projects, and countless award shows. Keith and Nicole's busy 12 months of red carpets started with the Critics' Choice and Golden Globes in January and continued with the CMT and CMA awards later in the year. The excitement isn't over for the couple, since Nicole has multiple films coming out in 2012 and Keith already has concert dates lined up.

Nicole Kidman Keeps Things Neutral For a Late Night Flight

Nicole Kidman was decked out in head-to-toe cream as she arrived on a flight at LAX Thursday night. The actress is on the go after making an appearance at the CMT Music Awards in Nashville on Wednesday. She was there to support husband Keith Urban since he was nominated for multiple honors including male video of the year. Keith didn't walk away with any wins, but he has his upcoming tour to keep his mind off any disappointment. The Get Closer Tour opens next week and it'll take him across the country and to Canada, but Keith has his schedule planned so that he never spends more than a few days away from his family. The Kidman-Urbans have a lot to juggle between Keith's music and Nicole's acting career, though the timing of his show works out since she just wrapped her HBO film Hemingway and Gellhorn.

Carrie Underwood Cheers and Yawns During a Hockey Game With Fellow Fans Nicole and Keith

Carrie Underwood had help cheering on her husband, Mike Fisher, at the Nashville Predators game in Tennessee last night. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were on hand to support the hockey team, but their presence didn't guarantee a win since the hometown squad lost to the Vancouver Canucks 4-2. The matchup may not have been too exciting, since Carrie was spotted yawning in the stands! Nicole's home in the South again following a stint shooting Hemingway & Gellhorn with Clive Owen in San Francisco, where she was regularly spotted on jogs and at coffee shops during breaks. Perhaps Nicole will catch Keith on stage now that she's back, since he's headlining a concert benefiting tornado victims that will air live on CMT May 12. Carrie isn't scheduled to perform during the show, but fans can still see her on the big screen in her feature film debut, Soul Surfer.
