Halloween Costume Idea: Dark Willow

The costume: Dark Willow
It's been 10 years since Dark Willow, the world's most powerful (and seriously P.O.-ed) witch, appeared on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but this Halloween costume is just as freaky now as it was then. It's a win-win choice from the Buffyverse, since fellow fans will get the costume immediately, and everyone else will just be impressed by your spooky look.

Hair and makeup: The key to this costume is black hair (if you need to, grab a wig!) and visible veins. Start by applying matte foundation in a shade lighter than your own skin tone. Next, use a damp eyeliner brush to draw on dark purple or black gel eyeliner as "veins." Fill in brows with black pencil or powder. Apply a dark red matte lipstick, then dab a bit of concealer on lips for a spookier look.

What to wear: Black, naturally. A fitted blazer and sleek black pants are very makeover-of-the-damned.

Take it to the next level: Go all out with black contacts, and you'll soon be one truck-driving magic mama.

Sarah Michelle Gellar returned to TV this week with the premiere of The CW's Ringer, but we know you all remember her from the first series she toplined, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Relive Gellar's turn as 16-year-old Buffy, the vampire-slaying badass who still manages to look sweet in her schoolgirl bangs and cheerleader uniform, in this trailer for the show's first season. All your other Sunnydale favorites - Xander, Willow, Spike, Giles, and Buffy's true love, Angel - make appearances in the video, as do a lot of creepy, pre-Twilight era vampires.

Are You Excited For the New Buffy the Vampire Slayer Film?

We first reported on a possible Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot over a year ago, but there's an update, folks! The latest news on the project reveals that the film has found itself a writer - and nope, it's not Joss Whedon.

Before you toss your computer in disgust, hear me out. At work on the script is 29-year-old Whit Anderson, a writer and Buffy devotee who says she grew up watching the series. She will spin the cult favorite into a new version (much like Batman Begins did for Batman), while retaining the "touchstones" Whedon created.

Buffy Summers has always been one of my favorite characters, but that's largely due to Whedon's snarky dialogue and the pop culture references that made the TV show so sharp. Hopefully, Anderson will keep some of that intact to please fans. Do you have faith in the reboot?

If Glee has turned you into a song and dance fan like it has me, then you'll be delighted to know that Fox is turning several of its shows into musical extravaganzas later this month. That includes Bones, Fringe, Family Guy - you might even see Dr. House singing a note or two.

Meshing Broadway with TV isn't anything new. In fact, some of my most beloved episodes of all time have been musical-themed masterpieces. So, to honor Glee and Fox's awesome idea, I'm reliving some of my favorites.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
"Once More, With Feeling" is a quintessential musical episode. Buffy and the gang break into vocals for some unknown reason, spilling their secrets. Is a spell to be blamed? Witches? Bunnies? Well, at least that's Anya's theory which she belts out.

That '70s Show Leave it to adorably naive Fez to dream up tunes and dance numbers in his head, while prepping for a high school concert. You know it's all imagined, because even the resident stick-in-the-mud Red gets in on the act.
Daria You wouldn't expect to see someone like Daria hum a tune, but she still maintains her glumness, singing "Oh me, oh my, a lovely day is dawning - oh, what a joy, I didn't wake up dead." To add to the bleakness, a hurricane is approaching threatening all of Lawndale. Ah, wry humor.
Scrubs A patient with a brain disorder imagines everyone in the hospital singing, watching on as Turk (aka "Chocolate Bear") and J.D. sing about "Guy Love." There's nothing gay about it. Right?!
How I Met Your Mother The kind of love Barney has for his menswear is the kind that musicians write songs about, as proven by this ditty complete with backup singers and dancers - in suits, naturally.

You want vampires. I'll give you vampires. I'll give you the most Fab vamps of all. Not to sound like a vampire snob, but I've always been obsessed, always wanted to be one. Pre-Twilight, post-The Lost Boys, I have always known them to be the coolest, sexiest, most manipulative monsters around. Thus, the current vampire craze isn't news to me - I've always been crazed.
