I was sad and shocked to hear the news yesterday of Brittany Murphy's sudden passing. Though the actress was only 32 years old, she already had a fair amount of roles under her belt that will help to honor her memory. Here's a look back at five of my favorite Brittany Murphy performances.

From the trailer, it's hard to tell exactly what The Dead Girl is about, beyond the fact that it involves a dead girl. The vagueness actually makes me hopeful about the movie, since the most captivating plots are often the hardest to distill into a dumbed-down trailer.
The thriller/mystery — which opens tomorrow, Jan.
