Before Hayden Panettierre got her big break playing a cheerleader on "Heroes," she toiled away on the direct-to-video third installment of Bring it On, playing — you guessed it — a cheerleader. I can't even imagine how much ABC Family, which has the rights to the movie, must have celebrated when Panettierre got famous, opening up a whole new world of promotional possibilities (I've seen a magazine ad and two TV commercials in the last week alone).
Granted, saving this version of Panettierre's cheerleader probably won't save the world, but I'm willing to bet it will make you laugh really hard.

Choosing the competition documentaries for this week's Movie Night got me thinking about all kinds of competition movies, both fictional and real-life. In recent years, it seems, there has been a surge in youth-centric competition movies in particular, including Stomp the Yard, Bring it On, and Take the Lead (which also would have worked for last week's teacher movies challenge!).
But I want to know: What are your favorite examples of competition movies?

Amanda Seyfried's latest film Letters to Juliet looks like a mash up of her other work. First off, her character's name is Sophie, which brings Mamma Mia to mind, as does the romantic foreign locale. But even the title itself made me do a double-take — wait, isn't she already doing a book-turned-film about letters called Dear John?!

This has been a huge year for music so far: Taylor Swift has won every trophy imaginable, Whitney Houston is staging her comeback, and Michael Jackson is still topping the charts, even after his death. Perhaps that's why tonight's American Music Awards sounds even better than in the past — and I'll be at the show to bring you all of the exciting moments!
Let's go over what to expect from the evening.

As evidenced in my holiday TV sneak peek, this week's episode of Grey's Anatomy puts the doctors on a fast track that starts on Thanksgiving eve and runs through New Year's Eve. As we all know by now, the Seattle Grace surgeons aren't always big on merriment, but the holidays are always the perfect time to bring out the truth in feelings and relationships.
Meredith bonds with the Chief while Mark learns that he has a teenage daughter.

Freshman comedy Modern Family has filled a void in my life — I find myself laughing out loud each week, and I'm not the only one digging it. A huge part of the show's greatness can be attributed to its amazing cast; one of my favorites is Cameron — one half of a same-sex couple adjusting to life with a new baby. Eric Stonestreet, who plays Cam, sat down with me to talk about the show's crazy success and the real-life experience he used to portray a clown in next week's episode, "Fizbo."
