Bond 22 Gets a New Title: Quantum of Solace

Reporters were informed today of the new title of what was previously Bond 22, and it's quite the mouthful: Quantum of Solace. For some reason I can't say this title without impersonating Sean Connery. It just sounds better that way. Anyway, the title was chosen from a story in the collection For Your Eyes Only by Bond creator Ian Fleming.

According to producer Michael G. Wilson "We thought it was an intriguing title and referenced what happened to Bond and what is happening in the film." The story picks up where the last film with Daniel Craig's Bond left off, "with Bond contemplating revenge after his betrayal by his true love, Vesper Lynd."

However, co-producer Barbara Broccoli (hee hee) insists this isn't a revenge movie, stating "It's a lot more complicated than that. It has lots of action but it also deals with the inner turmoil Bond is feeling."

What do you think of this new title? Is it appropriately James Bond-ish?

British actress Gemma Arterton has been chosen as a Bond girl for Bond 22, Reuters reports.
According to Variety, Marlon Wayans has signed on for the live-action G.I. Joe film.
A large collection of music from the 1970s - including music by Bob Marley and Peter Tosh - has disappeared from the archives of the former Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation, writes Billboard.
Tabatha Coffey, one of the most awesome characters from Shear Genius, is getting her own Bravo reality show, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Bravo also announced two big premieres for March, according to The Futon Critic: Top Chef 4 and The Real Housewives of NYC.
The AP reports that Jay Leno and Jimmy Kimmel will be guests on each others' shows to fill the gaps left by actors who won't cross picket lines to appear on the shows.
There Will Be Blood was the favorite film at the National Society of Film Critics Awards recently, writes Zap2It.

Variety has news about changes to TV schedules in the next few weeks, including the fact that Gossip Girl will move from Wednesday nights to Monday nights.

Bond 22 Theme Song to Be Played by... H.I.M.?

So this is weird: Yahoo! Music is stating that the Bond theme song may be played by Finnish metal band H.I.M. for the next installment, Bond 22. Apparently composers David Arnold and Don Black were rather impressed with the band's song "Wings of a Butterfly," and according to a source "They think [H.I.M. frontman Ville Valo] has just the right ear to write a classic Bond hit with them."

So if this pans out, the Bond music would probably sound harsh and heavy, which could maybe be cool, but perhaps a bit too much. Who else do you think could do some interesting things with the Bond theme song? I'd like to see what the Decemberists could do with the music, or maybe someone even quirkier like Regina Spektor.

The Office, "Fundraiser": Best Lines of the Night

After a great cold open where Ryan tries to show off how seriously he's mourning the loss of Smokey Robinson, in this week's episode of The Office, we spend a little time at work before everyone heads to a big fundraiser thrown by Angela's senator husband. Darryl and Nellie can't seem to connect, and we learn that everything is not that positive for Andy as he adjusts to life without the office.

Things are a little darker on the show tonight; I couldn't help but feel for Nellie, and Andy is just feeling lost. Darryl's not even pretending to like Nellie, but once they're seated together at the fundraiser, he warms up to his new boss and teaches her how to eat her very first taco. In a sweet moment, he tells everyone that he understands how "she's trying." Andy adopts a dozen dogs in an attempt to one-up Robert California's grand gesture of buying two tables at the fundraiser, but finally admits he's in trouble. Dwight doesn't understand how a silent auction works and gives an enormous donation - topped off with an epic speech, while Oscar and Pam get in some quality gossiping time about the senator's sexual preferences. This week's episode has its moments, so for my favorite lines of the night, just keep reading.

Fragrance Review: Bond Girl 007

Thinking you might want to get in on some secret spy action? Well, here's your chance. Avon's got a new James Bond-inspired fragrance called Bond Girl 007 ($30). And though smelling the hunky Daniel Craig might not be so bad, you won't have to worry about smelling like the manly 007 himself. This one's just for the ladies.

Produced in conjunction with the release of Quantum of Solace, the 22nd (whoa!) Bond flick, the bottle is shaped like the female form with a grenade-like gizmo for the cap. It's both sweet and sexy, just like the fragrance itself.

Upon initial whiff, there's an intense, pastry-like quality from the peach and orange notes. Jasmine, orchid, and freesia lend a bit of fresh, feminine qualities, while wood, amber, and patchouli round it off for a somewhat musky, deeper base.

All in all, Bond Girl 007 isn't my personal favorite, but it isn't displeasing either. If you're into sweet scents with a hint of warmth, I'd give it a shot. Bang.
