New Song and Video From Jay-Z's American Gangster

Jay-Z fans, take heart: You'll have plenty to hold you over until the November release of Jay's new album, which is inspired by the upcoming movie American Gangster.

Yesterday, Fader debuted a new song from the project called "Roc Boys (and the Winner Is)," which you can listen to online. I don't love it as much as "Blue Magic," maybe becaause the brass-laden beats sound like something recycled off of Kingdom Come.

But that's ok, because I'm too busy watching the official video for "Blue Magic," which hit the web today. Much like the mood of the music, the video straddles old Hollywood and modern-day New York, with imagery of fancy cars, artful graffiti, and even a glimpse at Denzel Washington, who stars in the movie about a 1970s heroin kingpin. Music Video: Jay-Z, "Blue Magic" Trailer

Last week, I told you that Jay-Z is releasing an album in November inspired by the upcoming movie American Gangster. My first thought? This could be really good. But I barely had time to speculate about what it might sound like before Jay-Z gave us a little taste.

This weekend, he released a teaser video for the first track, called "Blue Magic," one of nine songs inspired by the film, which stars Denzel Washington and tells the saga of a '70s heroin kingpin in New York. My first thought after hearing the clip? This could be really, really good.

The Neptunes-produced track hinges on a menacing piano hook and has a definite '70s vibe. It reminds me a little bit of the Clipse's Hell Hath No Fury, but with a more retro urban atmosphere. Avengers fans, rest assured, you have every reason to be excited for the film's release on Friday. The visual effects in The Avengers are absolutely stunning, and the 3D rendering draws you straight into the action.

With six superheroes to follow, the action scenes are diverse and gripping, with just the right amount of near-death drama to keep you on the edge of your seat. Explosions galore, flying contraptions, rad weaponry, and battles by air and by sea, there are plenty of jaw-dropping moments thanks to the mastery of Industrial Light & Magic's visual effects. Without giving away any pertinent plot details, here are 10 scenes that 3D and effects fans can look forward to.

The massive security center that secures the tesseract cube implodes during a car chase. As tons of concrete rubble is sucked into the earth, its force nearly drags the cars down too.
The whopping 1,500-foot fleet carrier S.H.I.E.L.D. base transforms into a flying space ship. Just when you think it can't get any cooler, its reflective panels engage, making it disappear.
Thor and Iron Man (arguably the best-looking men on the team) duke it out in the woods, destroying a lot of trees in the meantime. I don't know what's more awesome: seeing Thor's thunderous strength match up against Iron Man's tech-savvy smarts, or the hilarious banter between the two.
It's the moment everyone is anticipating: when will Hulk emerge from Dr. Banner? When Dr. Banner's anger hits a climax, it only takes a few heavy, unnerving breaths before the Hulk roars his way into his monstrous size.
Trapped in a glass capsule, Thor clatters around violently as he plunges 30,000 feet into the Earth. The impact decimates the wilderness around him, yet Thor's quick recovery is glorious.

I love me a neck-and-neck basketball game, live for that giddy feeling before the NFL playoffs, and would never miss a Slam final between Rafa and the Djoker.

I'm just a girl with a deep appreciation for the magic that takes place on field, ice and court, and enjoy dishing with other women who feel the same way. Oh, you do, too? Well, we're pretty awesome girls, which has got me thinking during this March Madness frenzy. I might be a little biased, but . . .

I totally think guys should date us. Right? We're each kind of a great catch. (Wink, wink.)

So, if you know Anthony Davis is No. 1-seed Kentucky's freshman phenom or that you should never count Tom Izzo's Spartans or Coach K's Blue Devils out, this is for you: reasons to date a girl who loves sports. But feel free to send it out to dudes en masse as a reminder.

You get to watch the game without distractions. Dating a girl who loves sports means you won't be helping her rearrange furniture or be taking a trip to see her parents on a Sunday afternoon. There will be no nagging to go shopping when your team has the ball with 3.3 seconds left. She'll be watching the game, too. And in fact, if you say something to break her concentration, you will be promptly shushed.
Two heads are better than one. You two can pool your vast knowledge of college basketball to make bracket predictions and destroy your colleagues. The satisfaction of knowing you were oh-so spot-on is fabulous, but a cash prize doesn't hurt either . . .
She'll let you vent. Cannot believe the coach of your favorite team burned through three timeouts in the first half, running out by the end of the game? Need to yell about how the best player choked, missing four free-throws in crunch time? She'll let you share your concerns. Just let her vent, too, OK? She'll be just as peeved.
