Is Leona Lewis America's Next Super Diva?

As my girl in the UK pointed out, Leona Lewis' single "Bleeding Love" from her upcoming album Spirit is No. 1 on the American Billboard Hot 100 right now. Lewis is the winner of the British TV show X Factor and has folks like Simon Cowell and Clive Davis heavily invested in her success.

However, based on this song "Bleeding Love," her voice is strong but I'm not sure I can hear Xtina or Whitney material in there.

I'll keep an open mind, but for all the publicity Lewis is getting, I wonder if she'll be able to live up to the hype when her album drops here in the U.S. on April 18.

I am 38 and dating an amazing man of 35. We've been together for about five months and despite his attempts to "take it slow" he is basically living with me. He still has his other place but is here every night except maybe once a month. We get along great, have a lot of laughs, and really seem to understand each other. Personally I'm madly in love in a way I've never experienced.

We have both been divorced for about 2-3 years and he admits to being incredibly hurt by his last girlfriend, who dumped him and got married to her ex (yep, that would hurt!). When we met, I was just out of a relationship that should have ended months prior and neither of us were really looking for anything serious, but I feel I was more ready than him. He just took me by surprise and swept me off my feet, and while he kept maintaining that we were taking it slow, it didn't go that way - within a couple months he was calling me his girlfriend by accident and like I said, staying with me all the time. 5 Fun Things I Learned on the New Girl Set

The Winter TCA is all about the shows premiering in the midseason schedule, but reporters got to take a break from all the upcoming series to visit the set of a Fall hit: New Girl. I checked out the digs while stars Zooey Deschanel, Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, and Lamorne Morris and creator Liz Meriwether answered questions and spilled some fun details about the Fox show.

The apartment is meant to look like industrial. Meriwether said that there was a distinct idea for the apartment Jess shares with the boys. "We just wanted the feeling of a space that once was a factory and now is a loft," she said, mentioning that it's also set in downtown LA, where there are a lot of these spaces.
There's one element of the apartment Meriwether gets asked about all the time: the urinals. "I get a tweet every week about whether urinals are in the bathroom," she said. There are - I saw them.
Deschanel's style bleeds into Jess's. "I think it always ends up seeping into the characters I play - my own personal style," the actress said. "I have sort of a very distinct sense of fashion for myself and what the characters should wear, so it does always end up sort of just edging its way into the wardrobe for whatever I'm working on."
The costume designer has a TV classic on her resume. Deschanel praised the woman behind New Girl's wardrobe, Deborah Maguire, and revealed that she worked on another show that featured goofy roommates. "She's amazing. She did Friends. She's ridiculously talented and I'm obsessed with her, I love her so much. She's a fashion soulmate, so we just nerd out on fashion."
Jess and Nick are probably not getting together anytime soon. "I'm not sure that's what this show's about in this season," Meriwether said when asked how long the sexual tension between Jess and Nick can last before anything happens with them. "It's about Jess and Nick sort of coming out of these bad relationships and trying to learn how to be people again and try to learn how to date again. I feel like they have a long way to go as characters.

Seann William Scott Slams Bodies in the Goon Trailer

Goon may be a hockey movie, but from the looks of the trailer, it's more about the violence than the goals that take place on the ice. Seann William Scott stars as Doug Glatt, a hockey player whose job isn't to score, but to make as many of the opposing teams' players bleed as possible. Liev Schreiber also stars - with a hilarious-looking handlebar mustache - as Glatt's menacing rival, Ross Rhea.

This is definitely a movie for the guys, complete with beer, violence, and a love interest (Alison Pill), who is only interested in sports and sex. It's a little more testosterone than I think I can handle, but see what you think when you

Why Roughhousing Is Good For Kids and Their Parents

Forget about letting the kids run around unsupervised; we don't even let them jump on the beds anymore. Between helicopter parents who hover, Tiger Moms who are obsessed with academic success, and curling parents who sweep a perfectly clear path for their kids to follow, we're so worried about keeping our kids safe that we end up limiting their activity levels along with their independence.

But a little horsing around could do kids a world of good, two experts suggest-and they encourage parents to roughhouse right along with their children.

"Play looks a lot different than it did 30 years ago," says Dr. Anthony DeBenedet, who co-wrote "The Art of Roughhousing: Good, Old-Fashioned Horseplay and Why Every Kid Needs It" with Lawrence J. Cohen, PhD. "I think it's time for us to kind of cut the strings a little bit. Let kids go-and play with them."

"We want to get a throwback to the good stuff," he adds. "The good stuff is play. And the holy grail is roughhousing."

Roughhousing does more than keep kids physically active. "There are clear signs showing that it helps kids' academic success, it's associated with being more flexible behaviorally, being better able to deal with unpredictability," DeBenedet says. "Play-especially active physical play, like roughhousing-makes kids smart, emotionally intelligent, lovable and likable, ethical, physically fit, and joyful," they write in their book.

Ian Somerhalder Talks About The Vampire Diaries' Season Three and Says There's "A Lot of Me in Damon"

Vampires took over Comic-Con this year, and one of the biggest bloodsucker attractions was the CW's series The Vampire Diaries. We checked out the panel and also had caught up with Ian Somerhalder, who plays so-bad-he's-good vampire Damon. Somerhalder talked about where Damon's head will be when season three comes back, and what his relationship with Elena will be like.

Is Damon going to change after his near-death kiss with Elena?
Ian Somerhalder: Probably not. People keep talking about this steamy kiss, and I don't know if anyone was paying attention, but Damon was pale, bleeding, and sweating profusely. So I'm not exactly sure how passionate it was, but he definitely remembers it. And I think that ultimately, he's pretty pissed off. For two seasons, he tried to get his brother to be what he wanted him to be, to just eat and destroy everything in their paths, which would have been fun . . . to sort of be who he really is. So he tried that for two seasons, [and] now Stefan's running around with Klaus - a dude that Damon absolutely hates [because] he tried to kill him - doing all those fun things he was trying to get his brother to do. And now not only that, Damon's stuck in Mystic Falls with this girl that he loves [who's] 150 years younger than he is, who a) doesn't want him and b) it's his brother's girl, so he ultimately can't just do that. I think he's really not happy with the way things have turned out.

How will he behave with Stefan gone?
IS: I think he's going to rise to the occasion, and I think he's going to have fun doing whatever it is. I mean, this is the guy that, whether he's ripping someone's head off or saving a kitten, he has the exact same grin on his face. He feels the same way about either one of those things. It's the thing that we were doing in season one, which is that push-pull, you know. It's like the alcoholic in the bar, how difficult that is. These guys are natural killers, that's what they do. If you put a mouse or a cricket in front of a kitten or cat, they're not going to just watch it, they're going to play with it. It's built in to the framework of their being. I think that push-pull is really what makes dynamic storytelling. Stefan has that push-pull with Klaus. He tried to save his brother, yet ultimately he's compelled and he's going along with the whole thing. Damon has the push-pull of wanting to destroy everything in his path and needing to protect this girl that he loves, and Elena has the push-pull of many things, poor thing - she's being pulled from every limb. But she gets something from Damon that she doesn't get from Stefan. They laugh, they throttle each other, they bicker. There's actually a line in the next episode where Alaric even says, "What are you guys, 12?" Because they have this kind of cute banter thing happening, and I think it's cool. We're going to start seeing these different sides to these different characters, but if people are expecting Damon to be this wearing-his-heart-on-his-sleeve hero character - ain't happening.

read more. With Stefan out of the picture, how long will it take for Damon to put the moves on Elena? IS: That's a question I don't know the answer to. I think it's another fight - it's another push-pull for Damon. He doesn't feel very good about that. I think he's going to do what he's done in every other season. He's trying to distract himself, placate himself, so he's not firing on all pistons heading toward Elena. So there are lines he won't cross? IS: I don't know if there's any line he won't cross, but if he crosses them, he'll probably step back over. When you read Kevin Williamson's dialogue for Damon and his great one-liners, do you crack up? IS: I do. I truly love that man. He and Julie [Plec], I am so eternally grateful and in debt to. Unfortunately - those are the last two people you want to be in debt to, because they're crazy wicked smart and manipulative and wonderful. But Kevin has this thing where he writes so well for Damon, because I think in many respects - ixnay on the maniacal killer aspect - but there's a lot of Kevin in Damon. There's a lot of me in Damon. We just have a really profound relationship, and he just has this ability to write these lines . . . [it's] always so weird, how when writers write, you read the story, and they're inexorably always parallel with what's happening in your life. I think they pick up on that, because they know us so well, whether it's what they hear on dailies and stuff when we're not paying attention when we're miked, or when they read articles or see something about us. Maybe it's a little bit of insight they didn't know before - they use all of that stuff.

Reasons to Ditch Your Cheapo Flip-Flops

As Spring transitions into Summer, my feet crave some flip-flop action. I love to feel the air and grass on my skin, and not have to deal with hot, sweaty feet. Plus flip-flops are so cheap, you can buy a few pairs without breaking the bank. The problem is, pinching pennies with Summer footwear isn't doing your feet any favors. Here are some reasons you should skip the flip-flops and opt for more supportive shoes.

The sole is spongy and offers no arch support. The sole may seem soft and comfy, but your foot ends up over-pronating (rolling inward), especially since there's no added support for the arch of your foot. This can cause pain in the heels, arches, ball of the foot, and toes.
They make your muscles and tendons work overtime. Since there's only that little v-shaped strap across you toes, there's not much holding the shoe to your foot. As you walk, you end up gripping your toes, making the muscles and tendons in your feet do all the work. This can lead to tendinitis.
Flat shoes strain the Achilles tendon. If you're used to wearing shoes that have a raised heel, flat shoes end up overstretching the calf muscles.
There's no ankle support. Sprained ankles in the Summer are common because of flip-flop use.
