The Results Are In: Recast Big

Every Wednesday on BuzzSugar, I post a Recast challenge, where I ask you to choose new actors for a classic TV show or movie. The reader who submits the best cast wins a BuzzSugar t-shirt!

I could watch Big ten times over and never get sick of it. If it had to be recast today, though, I certainly wouldn't mind watching many of the casts you all submitted. In particular, I liked the lists that added some racial diversity to the cast, like bluebutterfly's list that includes all black actors, as well as some of the ideas for MacMillan's role, such as lilpoofkin's idea of Bernie Mac and Amers230's pick of Morgan Freeman.

I also loved the idea of casting Tom Hanks' own son, Colin, in the role he made so memorable, as suggested by lilpoofkin (he's even around the same age as Tom Hanks was when Big was made!), and I enjoyed blondie829's idea to cast Zachary Levi (of the upcoming show "Chuck").

Finally, the ideas for the role of Susan were really interesting, like the popular choice of Katherine Heigl, as well as LikeATiger29's pick of Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Livience's suggestion of Anne Hathaway.

The "Sex and the City" movie will open on May 30, 2008, so mark your calendars! Also, the cast of this movie now includes Jennifer Hudson.
Kanye West and 50 Cent both had albums coming out this week and you all (correctly) presumed Kanye's album would do better. Check out Kanye's video for "The Good Life."
Fall TV is almost starting up so get excited! I've finished viewing all the new shows, so check out my takes on each of them with my Pilot Watch posts. Also, I've rounded up the top 5 new shows you can definitely skip this fall, and 5 I think could go either way. Stay tuned for Monday's post of the top 5 shows you can't miss.
Speaking of fall entertainment, I have three more Fall Movie Previews for you: the fall movies for and about women (including Elizabeth: The Golden Age, starring Cate Blanchett), horror films (including Sweeney Todd starring Johnny Depp) and the dramatic dramas (like December Boys starring Daniel Radcliffe).

As one of my favorite movies of my youth, Big is close to my heart, and will be a tough one to recast! Boating Safety: Things to Know Before You Go Afloat

It seems like boating season unofficially begins on Memorial Day weekend with everyone headed to their lake houses, weekend river residences, or the beach. In different parts of the nation, boating accidents, injuries, and unfortunately fatalities are on the rise. Now that I've captured your attention, let's review a few tips on boating safety.

Boater's fatigue is real, and it can wear you down. The US Coast Guard warns people about this condition, created by the combination of wind, noise, heat, and vibration of the boat. All these elements can mentally and physically fatigue boaters and subsequently impair their judgment.
Personal flotation devices, otherwise known as life jackets, are vitally important for everyone on board the boat, be it a canoe or a speed boat. Some states even require children under a certain age to wear life jackets, so if the little ones complain about wearing the big orange life vest, tell them it's the law.
Boating and alcohol don't mix. Alcohol impairs your judgment, balance, and coordination, affects your swimming and diving skills, and reduces your body's ability to stay warm. Coupled with boater's fatigue, folks on a boat will feel the effects of alcohol faster than they would on land. Plus, driving a boat while intoxicated is illegal.
The wind can keep you cool and make you forget you're in the sun, but don't forget to reapply sunscreen every two hours and always after swimming. Lube up even if it's overcast since UV rays can still damage your skin through clouds.
Watch the weather to keep an eye on local weather conditions, and be prepared for electrical storms. Water conducts electricity, so you don't want to find yourself on the open water during a lightning storm.
