- Meet Lee Pace! You may now know him from such things as the preciously delicious show "Pushing Daisies." Did you watch the "Pie-lette" episode this week?
- The brand-new trailer for the Johnny Depp-Tim Burton-Helena Bonham Carter movie Sweeney Todd is fantastic.

Regina Spektor already made one music video for "Better," but apparently, the nature of the song has inspired her to try again. If you're not familiar with the stellar music of this Russian-Jewish songstress, this video is a good introduction, since it features an army of Regina lookalikes with wild hair and icy-blue stares.
It's also a great taste of the quirky, piano-heavy folk pop that Spektor so artfully established on last year's Begin to Hope.

ABC's quirky workplace comedy Better Off Ted has had an unusual trajectory — the show premiered last year as a midseason replacement, then took a break and showed up with new episodes this Summer, and now it's back for its official second season premiere tonight. I'm just happy to have it back — the show has some of the funniest writing on TV and Portia de Rossi kills as the titular Ted's ice queen boss.
Tonight's episode "Love Blurts" opens with Veridian Dynamics pairing its employees with their ideal genetic match so they can save on insurance (because ideal matches produce perfect children who don't get sick, see).

On July 23, we'll get a peek at teen star Selena Gomez's career beyond Wizards of Waverly Place with her first big feature film, Ramona and Beezus (only the first of many I'm sure, as she seems to have no trouble racking up parts). Based on the Beverly Cleary series, the story follows Gomez as Beezus, the older sis to precocious nine-year-old, Ramona (Joey King).
As a childhood Cleary fan myself (especially the Ramona '80s TV series with Sarah Polley), I'm pretty pleased to see the siblings get their own film.

New episodes of a network TV show that's not canceled airing in the Summer? How is that even possible? I don't know what was behind ABC's choice to air new episodes of Better Off Ted starting this week — but whatever it was, I'll take it!

The sales guys at Dunder Mifflin have let their positions go to their heads on this week's The Office, and the rest of the staff (especially Michael) is not too pleased. Jim is on his BlackBerry, Andy has a Bluetooth — so wait, Michael Scott's employees actually work? What happened to our loveable goof-offs?!

A few days back, when I asked which midseason shows you were still watching, there was an outpouring of love for Better Off Ted. The show has become a favorite of mine, too, and I hope that tonight's finale isn't the last we see of it.
"But doesn't Better Off Ted air on Wednesdays?"

ABC's Better Off Ted is a quirky little comedy that reminds me in spirit of the network's Knights of Prosperity (which I loved, even if nobody else did, so that's a compliment). The comedy stars Jay Harrington — most recently seen pestering Addison Montgomery as Wyatt on Private Practice — as a man trying to make his way in a screwed-up science corporation.
The show, which also stars Portia de Rossi and comes from the creator of Andy Richter Controls the Universe, won me over in the first few minutes of its pilot with a ridiculous ad spotlighting the company and all the things it does ("Power.

Better Off Ted, which premieres tonight on ABC, is a smart and sarcastic comedy that I think will be a solid counterpart for Scrubs in the 8 p.m. hour. It's also very quirky, which I can imagine being interpreted as "very weird," which means I wouldn't be surprised if it struggles in the ratings and gets canceled early.

Reese Witherspoon is going country: the actress is attached to star in the movie adaptation of the popular blog The Pioneer Woman.
The Pioneer Woman chronicles the life of Ree Drummond, a city-loving woman who found love and a new home in the unfamiliar territory of Oklahoma. The blog is ripe with romantic comedy potential, so I actually think this will fare better than last year's blog-to-big-screen entrant, Julie and Julia (aside from Meryl as Julia, of course).
