Even the cheekiest, cheesiest, or most ridiculous flicks house a gem element that makes them worth your time. You just have to let go. Breathe. And prepare to giggle for at least 90 minutes. Here are five films that I believe suffered unfairly for their poorly developed plots, less than dazzling acting, or unmemorable final cut. I watched them once. And then watched them again. And they were way better the second time around.

Glitter - It's almost been a decade and any profile of poor Mariah Carey jabs with this one. I say grab your best girlfriend, a glass of vino, and watch it again. You'll wince at the lip-syncing, plot and hair, but get shivers from the singalong worthy tunes, Mariah's producer boyfriend's sleeveless tanks and appearances from Da Brat and Padma Lakshmi. And glitter. Lots and lots of glitter.

What's Buzzworthy? Embarrassing Movies to Watch With Parents

Here at the Sugar offices, we recently got to talking about what movies we could watch with our moms for Mother's Day, which inevitably led to a discussion about which movies not to watch with our moms. Someone warned against Because I Said So, which seems like an easy-breezy fun chick flick, but features an uncomfortable scene in which Mandy Moore's character explains to her mother (Diane Keaton) exactly what an orgasm is like.

Another suggestion was The 40-Year-Old Virgin, which Molly made the mistake of sitting down to watch with her future in-laws at their home on Christmas Eve. Also - though it's not a movie, per se - I can advise from experience to avoid Robin Williams' Live On Broadway stand-up special - unless your folks are prone to falling asleep before the end of things. That last drawn-out joke about oral sex is brutal.

Now, fess up: Which movies have you blushed and cringed through in the presence of your mom, dad, grandparents, in-laws, etc.? Mandy's Not So Into Looking Like Nicole

Mandy is not your average young starlet in any shape or form. She's not a regular at Hyde, she managed to get through her teens without a stint in rehab, and she's not a size 2. This is one of the many reasons Mandy has been one of our favorites. Mandy gets real in Seventeen Magazine when she discusses the pressure to be thin in Hollywood. We think it's funny that she chose to pick Nicole as the example of the starlet to compare herself too, especially since the interview probably took place well before she started dating her ex-fiancé. Here are some highlights from Mandy in Seventeen magazine:

On the Hollywood body type:
In this industry it's my job to look a certain way or whatnot-and it's weird for me too. But I'm much happier to represent this type of person. I'm not Nicole Richie. I'm not like a toothpick, and I never will be. I'm just a regular-looking person-and that's okay. It's taken a while to come to grips with that since it's definitely not the norm in my business. But like, who cares? If anything, that makes someone more special- or at least that's what I tell myself.
On people telling her to lose weight
I've had people tell me that before. And I have to say, there is nothing more mortifying than someone being like, "Maybe you could lose a couple pounds." Oh my God, it's the most hurtful thing.
How she deals with the pressure:
I think [doing] everything in moderation-that's the key for me in life. I want to be healthy, but in an industry where you can't wear a sample size because it's like a 0 or a 2, it makes you feel bad about yourself. To go to a photo shoot, it's like, Ugh, God, can't you just at least get a regular size, like a 6 or 8 or something?

Mandy may have been pretty MIA in 2006 but she is all over in 2007. She just screened Dedication at Sundance and Because I Said So, her film with Diane Keaton came in second at the box office this weekend.

She may not have any interest in looking like Nicole but they obviously have the same taste in men!

Because I Said So: Mama Said There'd Be Movies Like This

Let me preface this review by saying that I have, up until this moment, been a firm supporter of Diane Keaton. I’ve loved her from Annie Hall through Baby Boom, and I even stuck by her during the Something’s Gotta Give period. Yet her newest movie, Because I Said So, leaves me feeling a deep and confusing disappointment that's going to take a long time to get over.

This isn’t one of those bad-good films that's silly and campy in a heartwarming way. This is bad-bad all the way. Think squirming in embarrassment during moments of random 4-part singing without an ounce of irony. Multiply that feeling by a thousand and then decide if you want to see this movie. My advice is: don't.

Keaton plays Daphne Wilder, an overbearing, manic 60-year-old mother of three grown daughters, two of whom are married. The third child, Milly (Mandy Moore), despite being a responsible and happy person, is the one trouble spot in Daphne's life because she hasn't found her "life partner." So Daphne takes out an online ad to find a suitable mate for Milly. As a result, two different bachelors start courting Milly: a dreamboat musician (made "edgy" by his tattoos) and another guy who is laughably lame (rich, uptight, and cold). Amidst all this meddling, Daphne almost misses out on her own chance at love. Almost, but of course, not quite, so

The actresses in this film may have had fun making it, but the relationships ring empty, and the moments that are supposed to be truthful are reduced to high-pitched indecipherable squealing. Keaton is so shrieky and over-the-top that the only point I felt anything other than irritation toward Daphne is when she catches a flu, loses her voice, and has a quiet moment with Milly discussing orgasms. This relaxed moment happens to be Mandy Moore’s finest as well; otherwise her starry-eyed naivete is tiresome.

Lauren Graham is refreshing as Lorelai Gilmore - oops, I mean Milly's sister Maggie. Though slightly tamer than her Loralei character, she basically provides the same deadpan humor. Piper Perabo plays Milly's other sister, Mae, and she's barely in the movie. The "7th Heaven" dad (Stephen Collins) is actually endearing and sweet for the whole six lines he's allowed, while the other guys are 2-dimensional but very cute (especially the musician, played by Gabriel Macht).

There's also an appearance by Tony Hale, who was excellent as Buster Bluth in "Arrested Development," so it's a shame that he's involved in the most eye-rollingly bad writing in the entire film. Loralei/Maggie is a therapist who meets regularly with Stuart (Hale), who says he responded to a personal ad that a woman took out for her daughter. Maggie proceeds to belittle any woman who would stoop to that kind of low, not knowing she's bashing her own mother. When Stuart says the woman's reasoning for not having him date her daughter was "because I said so," Maggie realizes he's talking about her mother! Because clearly, no other mother in the course of history has ever used that catch phrase. Remember that confused disappointment I mentioned? This moment helped to solidify that.

I've already expressed my distaste for the term "chick flick," and this movie really exacerbates the issue. I am a chick, and I don’t identify with a single minute of the rubbish that is this movie. In fact, Because I Said So only serves to fulfill every tired cliché that women are typically lumped into - and worse, it treats female singlehood like a hereditary disease. With the help of modern science (the Internet), Daphne does everything in her power to disable the nasty gene that could leave Milly to doomed to the apparent misery of not having a husband.

It's a sad day for me and Diane Keaton. I'm going to watch Annie Hall this weekend and weep for the good ol' days. I suggest you do the same.

Because Mandy Says So

It seems as if everyday we see new pictures of Mandy and DJ AM, but last night at the premiere of Because I Said So, she walked the red carpet solo. It was more of a girls' night out with her fabulous co-stars including Diane Keaton and Piper Perabo. Even though the emphasis should be on the movie and these wonderful actresses, we've got more news on Mandy and her dating dislikes. People reports:

"I don't enjoy dating in the public eye. I don't even really enjoy dating," the actress, 22, told PEOPLE at Tuesday's Hollywood premiere of her new romantic comedy Because I Said So. "I find it really not fun. When it comes to the romantic side of things, I would rather be a girl in a relationship than dating."

Asked if she is dating Nicole Richie's ex, she smiled, shrugged and said, "I don't know."

Because I Said So director Michael Lehman also weighed in on Moore's love life, telling PEOPLE: "In my dealings with her where I'd ask her about her relationships and stuff, she was very up front and out there. At the time we were making this, she was dating Zach Braff. He came to the set a few times. They seemed to have a very solid relationship. ... So I never asked her about the turmoil."

We just want all good things for Mandy so if being a serial monogamist is her thing than more power to her. We just hope hope hope DJ AM is not using her since he is getting plenty of wanted press from being attached to Mandy. Movie Preview: Because I Said So

It's been a good couple of weeks for Mandy Moore. Her new indie flick, Dedication, was just bought by the Weinstein Company and First Look at Sundance, and soon you can see her in Because I Said So, which opens nationwide this Friday. Moore plays the daughter of a meddlesome mother (Diane Keaton), who relentlessly interferes in her daughter's romantic life when she should be concentrating on her own.

I so miss the Annie Hall days when Diane Keaton played lovably neurotic characters rather than the campy, over-the-top persona she seems to favor now. But I'm willing to give the movie a chance; the fact that the dad from "7th Heaven" plays Keaton's love interest alone is pretty hilarious. Moonrise Kingdom: A Retro Delight

Everything about Moonrise Kingdom is unmistakably Wes Anderson: the hazy cinematography, the clever dialogue, and even the use of the director's favorite actors. Indeed, Anderson isn't leaving his comfort zone as a filmmaker, but Moonrise Kingdom is still a pleasure to watch. Set in 1965, the movie tells the story of Sam and Suzy (newcomers Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward), preteen pen pals who conspire to run away together. As they set up camp all over an island off the coast of New England, they're being pursued by Sam's scout troop (led by camp counselor Edward Norton), Suzy's parents (Bill Murray and Frances McDormand), and different authorities (Bruce Willis and Tilda Swinton). Sam and Suzy's experience with young love is sweet and complicated, and made all the more dreamy through Anderson's lens.

The elements might be familiar, but Anderson proves why he's such an admired director with a film like this. It's surprisingly romantic, but there's also a real threat to Sam and Suzy in the wild. Their compelling journey paired with the optical treat of Anderson's style makes Moonrise Kingdom a must-watch for fans of the distinctive director. Hysteria Director Tanya Wexler Talks Vibrators, Faking It, and Duck Sex

Don't be shy . . . It's time to talk sex toys! And Hysteria director Tanya Wexler is writing us a prescription for pleasure. Tanya's film - what she calls "the vibrator movie you can bring your mom to" - is in limited release and stars Hugh Dancy, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Rupert Everett. When working on a romantic comedy that centers around the invention of the vibrator, you end up with some entertaining and embarrassing situations along the way, and lucky for us, Tanya spilled all the hilariously dirty details. From teaming up with the film's partner Jimmyjane for a drive-by vibrator drop-off to a certain female Oscar-winner to trying unsuccessfully to get ducks to shag on command, Tanya was bursting with great stories from working on this very unconventional film. And while Tanya isn't ashamed to discuss the sexy subject matter of her latest film with us, the mother of four and her partner of 21 years did have a tricky challenge telling her preteen kids what her movie was about. TrèsSugar: What were some of the challenges to getting a movie made about vibrators?
Tanya Wexler: Getting the script right was tricky because if you just make a movie about the invention of the vibrator, it's actually a really short movie: you go "bzz" and it's done. And we had a kind of light romantic comedy. I say I made the vibrator movie you can bring your mom to. But some people wanted it to be raunchy or some people wanted it to be more serious and about feminism. People project a lot onto this movie of what they want, because there isn't a lot out there about vibrators and women's pleasure, and we still don't really deal with that topic very well, or we're overly antsy around it. And as a result, people have a lot of ideas of what the movie could and should be, and you can't please everyone. [laughs]

TS: Ha, good one.
TW: It's nonstop!

TS: Do you find sex toys inherently funny or something to be seriously celebrated?
TW: Yes!

TS: Both?
TW: Yes! Yes. I think they make me laugh, and I think that the inner kind of Beavis and Butt-head in all of us goes "[laugh]." You know, that inner 13-year-old, like, "Hahaha vibrator . . . " and yet they're awesome and fun.

TS: What shocked you the most when researching the movie?
TW: That ducks are the rapists of the bird world, and you'll see when you see the movie, because there's a little bit of questionable duck behavior - or awesome duck behavior - in the movie. It's totally a sidebar, but you cannot make ducks shag on command. I'm just saying.

TS: What about the whole history of hysteria being a medical condition?
TW: When I first heard the idea, I was like, "What do you mean it was invented in Victorian times?" I knew about hysteria, but the idea that the treatment was manual [British accent] massage deparaxism - which is what they called it - and, of course, the denial. The most shocking thing is the denial, that they didn't think it was sexual.

TS: Do you think they were really in denial?
TW: No, I don't think that some people were. My college roommate was with her high school boyfriend for two years and she had never had an orgasm. I think there's all kinds of denial, especially with women's sexuality. So the fact that there are young women today who haven't had an orgasm, whether self-induced - which is insane - or with a partner, then why wouldn't we think back then that women wouldn't know what orgasms were?

They would get a massage, and the doctor's saying, "Without a penis, this isn't sex, because sex is about procreation," so what is this? The best physical therapy you've ever had. So once you don't think of it as something other than what the doctor's supposed to do to cure your uncontrollable crying or uncontrollable laughter or whatever, then it's just an awesome muscle spasm. If you don't think women have their own inherent sexuality, then you're not thinking about it like that.

Kristen, Kirsten, Garrett, and Their On the Road Gang Hit the Grand Palais at Cannes

Kristen Stewart hit the red carpet for her Cannes premiere of On the Road this evening. She had the company of costars Sam Riley, Garrett Hedlund, Tom Sturridge, and Kirsten Dunst. Kirsten wore pink Dior, and Kristen was in Balenciaga. The gang spent the whole day together, having attended a press conference and photocall earlier. The movie debuted at the film festival this morning - check out our movie review of On the Road. The picture is based on the classic 1957 Jack Kerouac novel, and in it Kristen plays Marylou, the object of affection for the two main characters, played by Sam Riley and Garrett Hedlund. It was a big risk for Kristen, who has actually been attached to the project since producers saw her in 2007's Into the Wild, because it involves more nudity than her Twilight movies.

At today's press conference, Kristen spoke about her character. She said, "I love Marylou. The character is so vivid, she jumps right off the page and slaps you in the face . . . If I had to choose one character who really, truly embodied the spirit of this book, it was her. She really is this amazing link between the two boys. It's a grand statement to make, but it might not have happened without her."

Tom Sturridge didn't bring along his pregnant partner Sienna Miller, but there were plenty of other celeb couples in attendance. Robert Pattinson turned up to support Kristen ahead of his own Cosmopolis debuting at Cannes this weekend. Sam Riley had wife Alexandra Maria Lara on his arm, and costars Garrett Hedlund and Kirsten Dunst were able to mix romance and work on the carpet.

Kristen Stewart and More Stars Get Intimate About Shooting Sex Scenes

After all the anticipation leading up to Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson's big Breaking Dawn Part 1 sex scene (which was so hot it had to be taken down a notch for its PG-13 rating), Kristen is jumping headfirst into more steamy roles. In her latest flick, On the Road, which just debuted today at Cannes, she really pushes the sexual boundaries. In the movie, Kristen goes topless, has a threesome, engages in "road head," and manually stimulates her male costars. On the sex scenes, she said, "I love pushing and I love scaring myself. To watch a genuine [sexual] experience on-screen is so much more interesting than when you see the tape holding up the pasties . . . As long as you're being really honest, there's nothing ever to be ashamed of."

Kristen joins the sexy celebs who have been practicing their acting skills between the sheets. And while many actors and actresses - like Lena Dunham - say that onscreen sex isn't quite as enjoyable as the real deal, some stars get really into it. Amanda Seyfried told W magazine she's a big fan of sex scenes. Amanda rolls around in the hay with Justin Timberlake in In Time, but she dishes that her sexiest love-making scene was actually with a lady. She said, "Jennifer's Body is my favorite movie that I've done . . . They had an extreme close-up of [Megan Fox and my] tongues, and I'm telling you, the thing about the scene is that it's actually really sexy. For a young girl to say that about her own sex scene - it must be because it's special. I think Megan and I kissed really well together. We have similar kissing styles and it worked."
