Tops Are Making a Resurgence, But You Won't Recognize Them!

Everything old is new again - just with a different spin on them. Tops, the classic toys that have occupied tots for hundreds of years received a 21st century makeover with the introduction of Beyblades. Using a "launcher," or a rip cord, the tops then spin on the floor or in an arena where they battle to see which can spin the longest. The sleeper-hit holiday toy of the season, Beyblades were one of the most requested toys among kindergarten to fifth-grade boys last month.

Now Hasbro is set to put a decidedly girlie spin (pun intended) on the age-old toy. In March, the company (which also distributes Beyblades) will expand the FurReal Friends line with the introduction of Dizzy Dancers ($9) - a collection of "twirling, dancing pets." Using the familiar rip cord (now called a Dizzy Cord), the stuffed animal-topped toys can be launched to spin their way around the home. The cute characters are interchangeable, so they can be mixed and matched to create custom pets. Each package will also come with a "Twistin' Tricks Card" to teach lil ones new ways to spin.

Thanksgiving is a holiday full of lots of family and friend time. With everyone's significant others around the table, you may have a moment or two where you're feeling a little bit of lack, or even lonely. When the question comes up, and it certainly will if you've got a family like mine, take a breather and give yourself a quick reminder. There are so many reasons to be grateful for the place that you're in today, regardless of whether you've got a beau on your arm or not. Here are five things to remember, and get grateful for, this Thanksgiving.

Quality time with your people. It can be a little bit of a battle to figure out where the two of you will spend Thanksgiving. Instead of stressing about splitting the time evenly, all you have to worry about is spending quality time with your family and friends.
Holiday movie marathons. While the Christmas movies are starting to pop up on TV, you know that Thanksgiving kicks off the endless supply of full-blown holiday movie marathons. No need to worry about missing back-to-back showings of A Christmas Story and Miracle on 34th Street while the boys are watching what seems like an endless supply of football.
Pure freedom. You are the center of your world right now. You've got the privilege of coming and going as you please. There's plenty of time to consider someone else in your future, but right now focus on the abundance of options you have in your life today.
Skip the drama, mama. No need to stress about your fam not getting along with your boyfriend, or not so secretly cringing when your brother embarrasses you in front of everyone. The only thing you've got to be worried about this holiday is getting first dibs on your favorite Thanksgiving foods.
No settling for this girl! There's a reason you're not in a relationship right now, and it's because you're not looking for anyone, you're looking for the right person. You are awesome enough to recognize that. And that's something to be grateful for.

Marion Takes Baby Marcel Along For a Flight to NYC

Marion Cotillard touched down at JFK today, pushing her baby boy Marcel Canet along in his stroller as they headed to a waiting vehicle. Once Marion got her little guy settled in the backseat, she helped keep him happy by entertaining him with some of his toys. The mother and son often travel together, and when they're not jetting around, have been spending the bulk of their time in France. She's been busy shooting her latest film, Rust and Bone, in and around Antibes. Marion even went topless during a recent day on the set of the movie, in which she stars a killer-whale trainer. The role is the latest for Marion following her part in the upcoming Dark Knight Rises. She got to work on the action-heavy film just a few short months after welcoming Marcel to the world in May, and was spotted with costars including Christian Bale and Tom Hardy working on a battle scene in Pittsburgh over the Summer.

Christian Bale's a Priest Who Commits a Few Sins in The Flowers of War Trailer

The trailer for Chinese film The Flowers of War gives us our first look at Christian Bale as a priest who shelters prostitutes - and also seems to have a penchant for them. Bale plays a missionary based in China who protects a group of children and prostitutes from the 1937 attack by Japanese soldiers known as the Nanjing Massacre. It's honorable work, but it looks like the horrors of war get to the holy man. He strikes a rock-star-like pose with a cigarette dangling from his mouth within the confines of the church and appears to be drunk as he blows kisses to a group of women during a raucous party, ultimately ending up in the arms of what looks to be one of the very women he's protecting.

I have to admit I'm curious about the priest's bad-boy side, but I could barely stomach the violence in the trailer. We see scenes of a man getting shot point blank in the head and a child getting thrown over a banister, so I don't know that I could sit through the entire film, even though most of the epic battle scenes seem to have amazing production value. China has submitted the film for the best foreign-language film Academy Award, so see if you think the film has a chance at an Oscar when you watch the trailer after the jump.

Warrior: An Emotional Knockout

A lot of sports movies focus on underdogs, and while Warrior is no exception, it offers much more than a tale of athletes facing incredible odds. Brendan (Joel Edgerton) and Tommy Conlon (Tom Hardy) are two estranged brothers who find themselves training for the same mixed martial arts competition with a $5 million dollar prize. After physics teacher Brendan is suspended from his job without pay, he goes after the prize money so that his family can keep their home. Former Marine Tommy, who has suddenly returned from his service in Afghanistan, is also anxious to get a hold of the cash, though his motives aren't immediately clear. When they finally step into the caged ring, you're just as concerned with the outcome of the physical battle as you are with the emotional one that has broken the family.

As the pair prepares for the fight, they cross paths with their reformed alcoholic father Paddy (Nick Nolte). Tommy decides to train with him, despite the fact that he loathes his dad, while Brendan resists a relationship with him when the old man attempts to apologize for his wrongdoings. The familial rift that has caused these men to grow apart is revealed slowly, and done in such a way that you become emotionally invested in each fighter. read more. When the movie opens, Tommy shows up on his father's doorstep, having returned from Afghanistan full of rage and resentment toward his family. Tommy comes off as a bit one-dimensional throughout the story; he rarely speaks unless it's to reject his family's efforts to connect with him or spout angry grievances about the past. Hardy makes up for the character's reticence by expressing his angst through powerhouse fighting scenes. As Tommy's story unfolds, including insight into what he experienced in Afghanistan, you begin to understand his outrage and feel a sense of compassion towards him. It's somewhat easier to connect with Brendan, because we see snippets of his soft side as a father, like repairing his daughters' toys after work, and letting them paint his face at a birthday party. It's Nolte, however, who steals the spotlight as a repentant father desperate to reconnect with his sons. Throughout the film, Paddy receives an emotional beating from his sons that rivals the brutal punches his boys receive in the ring. From his worn face to the tears that quietly stream down his face, Nolte tears at our heartstrings with a powerful performance. From all the Warrior promotion, it's obvious that the brothers go head to head in the competition, but the route to the ring is still an interesting one. The movie does a great job of presenting what is at stake for each brother, so much so that it's not entirely clear if we should favor one over the other. Sure, we experience the traditional music montage training session, but the complexities of the Conlon brothers' relationship more than makes up for the standard sports movie fare. Even if you're not a sports fan, you will find yourself excited for the final fight scenes, despite some hard-to-watch body slams. By the end, I found myself riveted to my ringside seat of this film that is just as much a family drama as it is a sports story.

Typically on the sidelines as Jane and George's teenage daughter on The Jetsons, Judy Jetson gets to shine in the 1988 made-for-TV musical Rockin' With Judy Jetson, which was released on DVD this week. In the movie Judy is trying to get ultrahunky rock star Sky Rocker to play one of the songs she's written, but it turns into a galactic battle against an antimusic witch who's kidnapped the musician.

The futuristic drama queen has always had a special place in my heart, whether she's obsessing over shopping, fighting with her brother Elroy, or chasing after boys (especially rock stars). Here are some of the words of wisdom we've gleaned from the pony-tailed cartoon fashionista.
