Hope you got the special specs out last night because the 3-D episode of Chuck was actually pretty impressive. Granted, I was watching in HD and with the proper yellow-and-blue eyewear, but I was legitimately wowed by the special effects: Chuck's flashes seemed particularly well-suited for the technology. But even without the extra dimensions, the episode still worked on the regular ol' funny-spy-stuff level.

Lil Wayne took top honors Wednesday night when the Grammy nominations were announced in primetime, followed closely by Coldplay, Jay-Z, Ne-Yo, and Kanye West. Lil Wayne nabbed eight nominations, while Coldplay had seven and Jay-Z, Ne-Yo, and Kanye each had six.
Lil Wayne's most prestigious nomination came in the Album of the Year category, where he'll face off against Coldplay, Ne-Yo, Radiohead, and Robert Plant and Alison Krauss.

I'll admit this wasn't my favorite episode of The Office, but even when it's lukewarm, this show is still one of the highlights of my TV week. I loved seeing all the Halloween costumes in the beginning and I was hoping it would be a whole Halloween episode, but alas, the plot centered on Michael (and Darryl!) helping Holly move, Dwight royally messing with Andy's mind and Pam attempting to team up with Jim's brothers to pull a prank on him.
What did you think of this episode?

This week's episode of The Office starts off with Pam working her new part-time job at the Dunder-Mifflin corporate office in New York. Corporate New York Pam has such gorgeous hair! Elsewhere in the episode, Jim starts to feel slightly uneasy about his long-distance relationship with Pam while Holly and Michael's relationship heats up.

Today, FX takes its turn onstage at the TCA press tour, so I should have lots to share later on about Damages and The Shield. But before I get into all of that, there are a few fun tidbits from the first day that I wanted to be sure to mention:
- Kiefer Sutherland appeared briefly to chat about 24 (and was pinned against a wall by a throng of reporters almost immediately upon arrival). I've been watching the preview for this Fall's prequel on our hotel's closed-circuit system, and it seems to include Jack Bauer liberating a bunch of African children with his bare hands.

American Idol knows what to do with good singers, crowning champions and giving them record deals. And it knows what to do with bad singers, putting them on TV for weeks and weeks at the start of every season to give America a laugh. But it really doesn't know what to do with mediocrity, and that's what makes the Hollywood Week portion of the season so annoying.

American Idol cut its field from 10 to nine on Wednesday, the first of that long stretch of eliminations between when the tour is set and the top three is chosen. Which singer won't be moving on? Was it the person you predicted?

Well, almost everything I knew about American Idol this season is wrong, at least if Tuesday's performances by the top 10 guys are any indication. Several of the favorites had off nights, while those who seemed certain to be out before the Top 12 sounded great. One thing is still certain, though: On the guys' side, David Archuleta seems like the one to beat.
