First of all, I highly recommend you watch Australia this weekend. And read all about what costume designer Catherine Martin had to say about the film's Fab wardrobe. Now that I got that off my chest, back to fashion. Nicole Kidman was all about sophisticated glamour during her Australia movie promotions. From delicate feathers to sequins, the seasoned actress reigned in her exquisite choices. My pick is Nicole in Dries Van Noten's shimmery frock - but that's just me. Which look do you prefer?

On Our Radar: Ferragamo to Create Footwear For Upcoming Nicole Kidman Flick

Imagine having the task of creating footwear for a high-profile flick starring Nicole Kidman? That's precisely the boat Salvatore Ferragamo is in. The footwear designer, along with Oscar-winning costume designer Catherine Martin, is set to create a collection of shoes for Baz Luhrmann's Australia.

"My grandfather, Salvatore Ferragamo, began his career working in costume design for the American Film Company, a precursor to Twentieth Century Fox, so it is only fitting that we carry on his name and our company's heritage by collaborating once again on a film from Fox," said James Ferragamo.

When watching the movie, which comes out in November, look for evening sandals, riding boots, and classic wedge styles. Some shoes will later be sold at Ferragamo stores worldwide. But first, they will be displayed in Milan at the Evolving Legend Exhibition starting Sept. 24.

Another Movie Date Change! Quantum of Solace: Nov. 14

Following all these changes to the Fall movie releases is like a chess game because it has thrown the entire calender into a bit of a tizzy. First Twilight shifted its date based on the Harry Potter news, and now Quantum of Solace, the next installment of the James Bond franchise starring Daniel Craig, will follow suit.

Originally, Quantum of Solace was going to open Nov. 7 and is now being bumped to Nov. 14. Sony chair of worldwide marketing and distribution Jeff Blake states:

We believe Nov. 14 is a great date that allows us to play straight through Thanksgiving and right into Christmas. We believe this decision will give the public a wider opportunity to see the film over the holiday.

In this new slot the James Bond flick will now open the same weekend as Baz Luhrmann's epic Australia. Looks like despite the Harry Potter move to Summer of '09, this Fall is still shaping up to be pretty eventful.

So, let's see here, what does this mean for us? An additional week to ponder the meaning of Quantum of Solace, perhaps? Sure, why not.

Buzz In: Has a Movie Ever Inspired You to Travel?

The other day I found myself saying, "You know where I really want to visit? Greece." Why? Because of that lovable hot mess Mamma Mia! and the upcoming Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. Both are set (or, partially set, in Pants's case) on beautiful Greek islands with many sumptuous shots of white sands and sparkling azure oceans. It's like the ultimate product placement: I want to go where that movie is. Now.

Now Baz Luhrmann is fully embracing this idea of movie-as-travel-ad, and will help create a tourism ad campaign to go along with the release of his film Australia.

I've already shared a few movies that have inspired me to travel, so now it's your turn. Which movies have made you antsy to get out and see the world?

Movie Preview: Baz Luhrmann's Australia

Baz Luhrmann, the Australian director of Romeo and Juliet and Moulin Rouge has been working on his next film Australia for a while, and now we've got our first look at the project. Although the trailer doesn't give away much of the plot (I think Nicole Kidman makes an attempt, kinda, in the form of a simplified children's story but it doesn't really help much), it appears we're looking at an Australia under attack during the Pacific War with a romance thrown in there for good measure.

Visually, the film looks stunning. I've always had a hunch that if Luhrmann could apply just a small amount of restraint to his trademark movie aesthetic, we would be in for something truly special and this very well may be it. Also, Hugh Jackman as an outback cowboy might be the role he was born to play.

The film is set for release November 14. To see the trailer and let me know what you think,

Cannes Minireview: The Sapphires

The Sapphires has turned out to be one of the sleeper hits to emerge from Cannes, thanks to The Weinstein Company, which has already acquired rights to the film. I caught a screening of the funny film from Down Under during the festival, so read on to find out what I thought.

Who's behind it? Director Wayne Blair was behind the lens of the picture, which is based on a play by Tony Briggs. Briggs's mother and her family actually inspired the story. Chris O'Dowd of Bridesmaids fame is the leading man. The movie's four leading ladies all have varying degrees of fame in Australia: Jessica Mauboy is a musical star after a turn on Australian Idol, and Deborah Mailman was the first Aboriginal actress to win the country's prestigious Australian Film Institute award for best actress. Relative newcomers Miranda Tapsell and Shari Sebbens round out the cast.
What's it about? It's a story about a group of Aboriginal women who overcome significant obstacles in Australia to pursue their dreams of singing in 1968. When the ladies run into Dave (O'Dowd) at a local singing contest, he agrees to be their manager and help them get a gig touring Vietnam to entertain US troops. There are subplots about racism and Australia's "lost generation" (until the 1970s, the government stole light-skinned Aboriginal children to be raised by whites elsewhere). Mainly, though, there is a lot of singing, dancing, and '60s-era costumes.

Rihanna Strikes a Pretty Pose at a Magazine Shoot

Rihanna was all done up Saturday to do a magazine shoot in Malibu. The images are bound for Harper's Bazaar and the singer was excited about her first ever spread in the magazine. She struck a pose in a white gown with a thigh-high slit and also modeled a gold dress. Rihanna tweeted, "I did my first Harper's Bazaar cover today!" She didn't have long to dwell on the West Coast, though. Once the cameras were packed, Rihanna had to tend to her own luggage. She boarded a flight to NYC, where she arrived this morning and posted on Instagram, "NYC, it's on." The traveling comes at a busy time for Rihanna. In addition to performing at the first weekend of Coachella, she's also in the middle of a press tour for Battleship. After traveling to Japan and Australia with the movie, Rihanna's now prepping for the US release on May 18.

Jennifer Aniston Talks to Marie Claire Australia About Her "Protector" Justin

Jennifer Aniston covers the May issue of Marie Claire Australia with a photo that was recycled from an older Elle shoot. However, Jen's interview with the publication is all new. She chatted up her and boyfriend Justin Theroux's movie Wanderlust, which opens in Australia on April 25. Jen and Justin are currently hanging out together around their LA home base and were also recently spotted on a dinner date with Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. Inside the magazine, the 43-year-old actress dished on her love life with Justin, going topless, and finally letting her guard down. Here's more from the interview with Jennifer Aniston in Marie Claire Australia:

On her relationship with boyfriend Justin Theroux: "He's a protector, for sure. He's just a good human being, and so funny."
On her topless scene for Wanderlust: "There are always nerves when you shoot a scene like that. But the adrenaline takes you through it and then you have the girls come in and cover you up immediately. I got very comfortable with seeing nude people, pretty much immediately. It was bizarre to know that these were actually nudists - because there's a nudist colony in Clarkesville - and how comfortable they are being nude."
On not wanting to be so guarded: "I've really made a conscious effort to not wall myself up like that again. I built those walls pretty high in the past. I think you miss out on a lot of stuff when you're so protected and isolated."

Leonardo DiCaprio Holds Hands With Ruby During Lunch With the Maguires

Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Meyer held Jennifer's daughter Ruby's hands as they left lunch in NYC yesterday. Tobey Maguire, meanwhile, was nearby running errands. Leo and Tobey have been good friends for years, and recently shot The Great Gatsby together in Australia. They've wrapped filming on the movie adaptation of the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald book, and Leo has since started working on Django Unchained in New Orleans. Leo's latest project kept him away from the London premiere of Titanic 3D with costar and pal Kate Winslet last month. Kate and Leo have had many memorable moments since they first met making the James Cameron film in the '90s, and their big-screen chemistry continued this weekend when Titanic 3D opened with $17.3 million at the box office.
