Jolie + Depp = Hottest On-Screen Couple Ever?

In what can only be described as a match made in Hollywood heaven, Johnny Depp may be Angelina Jolie's next leading man. The actor is in talks to star opposite Jolie in The Tourist, a film that Jolie snatched up when Charlize Theron left it behind. Depp would play the American tourist, a role that Sam Worthington was originally slated for.

The film's had a lot of big names attached to it already (including Tom Cruise, in addition to Theron and Worthington), so I'm trying not to get my hopes too high for this one. But Jolie and Depp together on the big screen could be legendary, and not just because they're both smokin' hot. While I think they'd have some seriously good chemistry, I'd also love to see the talented actors go head to head on the big screen.

Of course, if Depp signs on, it could be a nail in the coffin for Pirates of the Caribbean 4, but how do you feel about this news?

Movie Preview: Angelina Jolie in Salt

I've been eagerly awaiting the trailer for the Angelina Jolie thriller Salt ever since the gender-bending news was announced that the actress would be replacing Tom Cruise in the title role. Though we already knew it was spy thriller, the trailer reveals new plot details, which reveal the necessity of all those wig changes.

The tense clip with Jolie as Evelyn Salt on the run already looks more compelling than her last action flick, Wanted, and I think the addition of supporting cast like Liev Schreiber could make this a hit. To watch the trailer, just read more.

Angelina Jolie Is Going Gucci

Despite what she may have said in the past, Angelina Jolie's career isn't slowing down anytime soon. Last week we learned that she'll be taking Charlize Theron's place in The Tourist and she may be adding another femme fatale role to her resume. Jolie is in talks to take the lead in Ridley Scott's Gucci.

Jolie would play Patrizia Reggiano, who spent 29 years in prison for plotting the murder of her ex husband, Maurizio Gucci. The script is still being reworked and Ridley's search for his Maurizio continues - apparently Leonardo DiCaprio has been approached but has yet to sign on.

I could absolutely see Jolie in this role, and in general I like when she can show more of her acting chops and less of her kung fu skills. Bonus: Angelina and Leo would make for one hot big screen couple.

Charlize Theron Out, Angelina Jolie May Be in For The Tourist

Upcoming spy thriller The Tourist has had plenty of A-list names swirling around it, from George Clooney to Tom Cruise, and now one more is added to the mix. Charlize Theron has dropped out of the film, and Angelina Jolie is in talks to take her place.

Jolie would star opposite Sam Worthington, playing an American tourist who goes undercover for Interpol to trap a criminal with whom she's had an affair. Jolie doesn't have a ton on her plate at the moment now that Salt is wrapped, and another action thriller shouldn't be much of a stretch for her - though she has said in the past that she wants to take on fewer projects and spend more time at home with those adorable kids.

Who Do You Think Could Play a Young Lara Croft?

Word on the street is the next Tomb Raider movie will be a prequel in which Lara Croft's origin story is revealed. Producer Dan Lin is all kinds of excited for the next movie, saying this one will be "more realistic" than past movies. He continued, "I would say it's like Terminator - character-driven action. I think for me the Lara Croft games and movies have gone a little too action-oriented. I wanted to have action, but with character." And Angelina Jolie will not be reprising her role, since the origin story will require a young Lara Croft.

There were some mixed feelings about this project initially, but now that it sounds like it'll be a different take on the role (so, not a straight remake of stuff Jolie's already done), are you any more sold on it? What young actress do you think could step into the butt-kicking boots of a younger Lara Croft?

Angelina Jolie to Star in Adaptation of Cornwell Mysteries

Fox 2000 has acquired the rights to mystery writer Patricia Cornwell's bestselling series about medical examiner Dr. Kay Scarpetta - with Angelina Jolie eyeing the lead role in the film adaptation. Here's more:

There are 16 Scarpetta novels, meaning a franchise is hoped for, but this film won't be tied to a specific Cornwell mystery title. Much the way that Jason Bourne morphed into an action hero in plots not rigidly locked into the Robert Ludlum book series, the opera-loving coroner Scarpetta will be the lead in a suspense thriller in the vein of The Silence of the Lambs and Seven.

Variety goes on to call this a "mega-marriage" since Angelina Jolie is "one of the most bankable female movie stars, and Cornwell one of the biggest selling female authors in the world." Jolie has played a tomb raider, an assassin, and soon a spy - why not add medical examiner to the list? One thing's for certain: she never gets the wimpy roles.
