And then there were three. The stakes are high on American Idol this week, as one of the contestants will be cut just before the finals. Scotty, Haley, and Lauren sang three songs apiece, giving us plenty to chew on as we decide who deserves the title most. Beyoncé was a highlight as this week's celebrity consultant, and the contestants gave some of the best performances we've seen all season (I'm partial to Haley's take on Led Zeppelin). American Idol Final Four Inspire and Go Gaga

It was another twofer night on American Idol, with the final four kicking things off by showcasing inspirational songs that were all over the spectrum from Michael Jackson to Alan Jackson. Then, Lady Gaga stepped in to help with round two, which was entertaining to say the least. Haley loved her while Scotty shied away, but all of the contestants seemed a bit more lively in their second attempts. There's only a few weeks left in the competition, so vote for who you think is moving on to the next round!

American Idol's Top 5 Have Twice the Fun With Then and Now Night!

American Idol's top five contestants got to show their range with two performances tonight. The finalists were each challenged to pick one current song and one older one, which meant we were treated to everything from beloved classics to an as-of-yet unreleased Lady Gaga track off Born This Way! Sheryl Crow was the mentor for the night and emotions were running high - James even broke down in tears during his second number. There were some performances that could become big highlights of the season, though is it just me or are the judges finally cracking down with the criticism just a bit in the homestretch? Let's break it down and let us know who you think is going home tomorrow!

American Idol Top 6 Pay Homage to Carole King

After last week's take on contemporary hits, American Idol brought it back to some classics as the top six took on Carole King. Luckily for the contestants, King has more than enough songs on her hits list that they were all able to find something to get the crowd going. Along with their solo acts, the six were paired into duet teams for another chance to showcase their talents. As for those, Haley and Casey showed off a bit of their chemistry before taking on, "I Feel The Earth Move," which many viewers know has even more meaning for these two as they're rumored to have sparked a romance off stage. Cute or were you rolling your eyes? Lauren and Scotty were simply sweet together and made a cute country pair singing "Up on the Roof." Jacob and James capped off the show with a wholesome rendition of "I'm Into Something Good" that was nothing to write home about. The twosome songs weren't officially judged, so let's break down the solo performances!

American Idol Top 7 Tackle 21st Century Hits!

From kissing judges to Steven's tongue and the brief return of Pia Toscano, tonight's American Idol was a fun one. The top seven took on songs from the 21st century, which meant we were treated to recent hits and even the current number one record in America, Adele's "Rolling In the Deep." The show kicked off with a performance from the recently eliminated contestants, including Pia, whose rumored boyfriend Mark Ballas was in the crowd to cheer her on, and Paul McDonald decked out in an embroidered suit. There were a couple standouts among the remaining finalists, but it's hard to pick who will be in the bottom three - check out my recap of each performance and then vote on who you think is still in the game, and who's on their way out.

American Idol's Top Nine Get Rockin' and Rollin'

After last week's double elimination, it was time for the top nine to bring it on American Idol. The theme was rock and roll, and some contestants - namely James and Pia - stepped out of their comfort zones, while others played it up to their advantage. As always, someone's gotta go home, so let's recap and make our predictions for who's safe and who's in trouble.

American Idol's Top 11 Get Down With Motown!

When American Idol announced that its theme for this week's show was Motown hits, I was a little worried about how some of the contestants would fare out of their comfort zones. But each of the contestants truly surprised me by pulling off performances that were heartfelt and fun - well, most of them. The American Idol Top 12 Heats Things Up

The selections were definitely ambitious, and everyone from Michael Jackson to Celine Dion received an homage. But while some competitors pulled off the perfect tribute, others struggled with the material. Buzz In: Do You Agree With American Idol's Top 13?

Introducing your American Idol top 10! Or should I say, 13? The show made cuts left and right tonight, whittling down the final 24 to only 10 at first.

But then - there's a wild card! Pulling from the remaining 14, the judges chose three girls (Ashthon Jones, Kendra Chantelle, Naima Adedapo) and three guys (Stefano Langone, Jovany Barreto, Robbie Rosen) to give it one last shot. Ashthon chose the appropriate "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going," Robbie performed "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word" again, and all six really put their hearts out on the stage. In the end the judges saved three: Ashthon, Stefano, and Naima.

As Randy Jackson himself said, it really was the hardest night ever. I was surprised to see a few contestants left out (poor Robbie!), but I do like the variety of the remaining group. There are a ton of different musical styles and personalities in the mix, which should make the competition interesting to watch. Were you surprised by the final group?
