Kate Gosselin Met Her Match in Paul Sr. of American Chopper

Jon and Kate Plus 8's feisty matriarch met her match last Thursday when American Chopper's patriarch, Paul Tuetul, Sr. and his sons motored up to the Gosselin's abode. While the muscle men were there to build a bike for Jon, it seemed like the trio meshed better with Kate. Famous for his bike shop antics and explosive temper with his sons - Pauly and Mikey - maybe Paul Sr.'s bark is louder than his bite because he playfully interacted with the sextuplets. The no nonsense guy also persuaded Kate to become a biker chick for a ride out on the open road. And, the Tuetuls even surprised the outspoken mama with a pink personalized scooter. We can't wait to see how the family's version of the episode turns out when it airs tonight!

Is Reality TV Better When It's About Unusual Lives?

Until some news around TLC's programming came out this week, I never gave a lot of thought to a reality TV subgenre that TLC likes to call "unusual lives." The set includes shows like LA Ink - that's star Kat Von D at left - and American Chopper, and anything else that showcases people working in non-mainstream professions. (TLC has new "unusual lives" shows on the way about a bikini maker and a class at a makeup academy.)

It's kind of a neat little genre of reality TV, more like mini-documentaries than about throwing a bunch of people in a house together and seeing who explodes. On the other hand, how relaxing is it to sit down in front of the TV after work only to watch other people work? Do you like watching these shows about unusual lives?

Fanglike Teeth: Japan's Wildly Popular Beauty Craze

While the trend of attaining 100 percent perfect teeth has perhaps waned a bit in the US, in Japan, some are choosing a more fanglike look. Dubbed "yaeba" in Japanese (or the American equivalent snaggleteeth), the style has young women heading to the dentist for crooked smiles, courtesy of plastic pieces affixed to the teeth. But why?

"The gapped tooth is sort of preorthodontic or early development, and the naturally occurring yaeba is because of delayed baby teeth or a mouth that's too small," Pace University's Dr. Emilie Zaslow told The New York Times, adding, "It's this kind of emphasis on youth and the sexualization of young girls."

We've seen stars embrace their perfectly imperfect natural choppers, such as Kirsten Dunst, who admitted to Elle UK, "I love my snaggle fangs. . . . they give me character and character is sexy." And then there is Heidi Klum, who explained that one of the reasons she liked the ad for her fragrance, Shine, is that "my snaggletooth is coming out a little bit." And whether the yaeba trend remains popular or not - despite its creepy implications - there's always another fangy fad: tooth tattooing.
