Watch the Preview For Aaron Sorkin's HBO Series The Newsroom

The West Wing lovers, rejoice - Aaron Sorkin is coming back to TV with another politically charged drama, but this time he's focusing on the lives of those who cover politics. In the first trailer for the HBO series The Newsroom, we meet Will McAvoy (Jeff Daniels), a TV journalist who's known for being vanilla ("the Jay Leno of news anchors," as a detractor says). When he breaks his neutral facade at a college Q&A and states some of his real, profanity-laced opinions, he and his TV team (which includes Dev Patel, Chris Messina, Emily Mortimer, and Alison Pill) have to regroup. The show will portray Will's struggle with being able to be honest at work - while still keeping viewers watching his prime-time show.

The combination of Sorkin's dialogue plus the cast (Jane Fonda even pops up) has already got me hooked from just the trailer, and I'm loving The Social Network-like way the credits are introduced. The show won't premiere until June, but I can't wait to see more footage. Watch the trailer and let me know what you think after the jump.

Aaron Sorkin Addresses Steve Jobs Biopic Rumors After His Critics' Choice Win

Aaron Sorkin joined his Moneyball co-writers backstage at the Critics' Choice Awards tonight following their best adapted screenplay win tonight. Aaron responded to reports that he is working on a biopic about late Apple founder Steve Jobs, which he has said he would "strongly consider" writing, and weighed in on whether he'll direct in the future. Aaron couldn't say much about the rumored project, but he didn't deny that it's currently in the works.

On the Steve Jobs buzz and whether he might direct: "I'm just not allowed to talk about that right now, is the thing. Tonight's about Moneyball. It's obviously, truly a team effort, but I think I'm speaking for Stan and Steven when I say we're really happy with what we've seen on screen. By the way, if it turns out that I do direct, I will watch all of Steve's films [first.]"

John Krasinski and Aaron Sorkin Take Us Inside the Chateau

Ready to go inside the Chateau Marmont? John Krasinski and Aaron Sorkin are teaming up for a new HBO miniseries called Life at the Marmont. The series will be based on the book by the same name, written by the hotel's co-owner Raymond R. Sarlot and Fred Basten.

The series will follow different stories chronicling some of the guests who have stayed at the hotel over the years. Sorkin will executive produce and write the script, while Krasinski is expected to star in addition to acting as executive producer. I'm already excited about this series, and not just because I happen to love both Sorkin and Krasinski. The Chateau has been a site for Hollywood's A-listers to see and be seen for decades, and I'm sure there are plenty of intriguing stories to tell. Plus, Krasinski seems pretty well connected in Hollywood, so I'm sure he'll be able to put together a talented cast.

Hollywood's up-and-coming talent came together Friday night at LA's Club Nokia for the 13th annual Young Hollywood Awards. The new face of Miu Miu, Hailee Steinfeld, stepped out in a black and white ensemble from the brand to accept the breakthrough of the year honor from her True Grit costar Jeff Bridges. More statues went out to Style Icon Camilla Belle, in a Tom Ford suit, and Star of Tomorrow Armie Hammer, who caught up with his hilarious Parks and Recreation star pal Aziz Ansari. Camilla stuck close by her supposed real-life leading man, Topher Grace. Grey's Anatomy's Jesse Williams was crowned TV actor of the year, while Elle Fanning had her Somewhere director Sofia Coppola's dad, Francis, on hand to witness her film actress of the year honor. Garrett Hedlund had Midnight in Paris star Michael Sheen on hand to pass on the film actor of the year distinction, and the awardees kept the good times rolling afterward with a party. The whole show airs Thursday night on the ION channel.

The Social Network's Aaron Sorkin Says "My Hat's Off to Mark Zuckerberg" in Oscars Press Room

Aaron Sorkin has been picking up accolades throughout award season for his adapted screenplay for The Social Network, and he completed his run with an Oscar win tonight. Back in the press room, the screenwriter talked about his next project, the power of the Internet, and why he has to give proper credit to Mark Zuckerberg.

On the talented, young cast of The Social Network: I'll try to sum it up this way. Like a lot of people I grew up watching The Graduate and I always wondered what it must have been like for Buck Henry to see Dustin Hoffman just do it for the first time, with no rehearsal. I don't wonder anymore. I know exactly how he felt. I see Jesse doing it. I see Andrew doing it. Justin, Armie, and this cast do it under the guidance of David Fincher. It was an incredibly talented and very, very young cast. This material isn't for beginners. These were the youngest characters I've ever written. We had to find exceptional actors and we found them all and got the best performances out of them. It wasn't just the performances. It was everything.
On what's up next: I'll be very candid with you. Since the movie came out and got the kind of critical reaction and cultural reaction that it's gotten, I've been hyper aware that the thing I do next is going to be "the thing I did after The Social Network." I'm going to spend tonight enjoying this and tomorrow starting something new. I think that's what I have to do. I'm just going to keep writing. Keep doing what I've always been doing. Try to find something that I like. Something that I think my friends will like and my father would like and keep my fingers crossed.
On Mark Zuckerberg: I think he's been an awfully good sport about this film. I don't think that there is anybody here who would want a movie made about things they did when they were 19 years old. And if that movie absolutely, positively had to be made, you'd want it to be made only from your point of view. And you wouldn't want included the point of view of people suing you for hundreds of millions of dollars and have a visceral, emotional reaction to you. That is the movie that we made. And then with things like Mark's appearance on SNL, the fact that he took his staff out to see the movie the day it came out in the US on Oct. 1, and, however it might be related, his $100 million gift to the New Jersey school system. That was met with some cynicism in the press, but I'm sure that the kids, and their parents, and the teachers in Newark aren't worried about how the money got there. So my hat's off to him.
On his relationship with The King's Speech writer David Seidler: I'm proud to say I've got a bromance going with him. I think that his screenplay for The King's Speech is remarkable. It started when I asked around and got his email address after I saw the movie because I had to write and tell him how much I loved it. I'd never met him before or had any interaction with him. He emailed back and we began emailing each other every few days.
On the influence of social media: Listen, I've written a lot and talked a little bit about being wary about the Internet. Somewhere along the way I've become my grandmother. You saw what happened in Cairo and there are other examples of social networking tools mobilizing people for great causes like that. Again, we have to thank the Mark Zuckerbergs that are out there.
