Buzz In: How Many Movies Could You Watch in One Day?

AMC Theaters has announced its annual Oscar marathon, offering the chance to see all the nominees for Best Picture in one sitting. This year, the stakes have changed a bit - since there's 10 movies in the category, the special will actually take place on two separate Saturdays, showing five movies on each one.

Taking in five films in a day is one thing, but repeating it a week later seems a little aggressive. Especially when you've got some long, epic, and emotionally draining films on the slate. I don't know if I could handle Avatar immediately followed by Precious - and that's just two!

The whole situation has got me thinking about my film stamina in general. In college I was definitely known to cram four or five movies into a lazy Saturday with ease, but when it comes to in-theater entertainment, my record is three films in one day. (Thanks, Sundance!) Even film festivals generally give you some free time between movies, but I'm not sure I could go more than four in a theater.

One Day, Five Best Picture Nominees, 30 Bucks

Seeing every single Oscar-nominated movie before the Feb. 24 ceremony might be a tall order, but seeing the five best picture nominees? That's doable. The day kicks off with Michael Clayton in the morning and There Will Be Blood and Atonement in the afternoon. The evening winds down with Juno and closes with No Country for Old Men.
