Another day at the upfronts means there's another crop of new shows to check out and judge. Today, ABC took its turn to present its new shows, and the slate of comedies and dramas features a lot of familiar faces. See which veterans of shows like Lost and Desperate Housewives will be showing up come Fall, and get a peek at all of their new projects.

Revenge and Happy Endings Get Shuffled Around in ABC's New Fall Schedule

ABC has announced its brand spankin' new Fall schedule, and there are a few big things to take note of. Obviously the network's new series are built in, but a few returning series have new spots in the lineup, like Revenge, which is shifting to Desperate Housewives' vacated Sunday night slot. Happy Endings and Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 are moving to Tuesdays, giving a new comedy the Modern Family lead-in on Wednesday nights. ABC Pilots: Get the Scoop on the Network's New Shows

Upfronts are in full swing, and it's time to get acquainted with the new series that'll be hitting the small screen in Fall 2012. ABC has revealed the shows it's ordered after announcing which shows it's canceling, and we've got the info on the pilots right here.

COMEDIES

Malibu Country: Reba McEntire plays a woman who moves with her kids from Nashville to Malibu to live with her mother (Lily Tomlin) after her husband cheats on her.
How to Live With Your Parents for the Rest of Your Life: Sarah Chalke stars as a recently divorced woman who has to move in with her eccentric parents, played by Brad Garrett and Elizabeth Perkins.
Family Tools: A man (Kyle Bornheimer) puts his life on hold to take over the family handyman business from his father, played by J.K. Simmons.
Neighbors: A family, which includes Jami Gertz, moves into a gated community and discovers that it's full of aliens disguised as humans.

DRAMAS

666 Park Ave.: Dave Annable and Rachael Taylor play a couple who notice supernatural occurrences in the New York City apartment building they've been hired to manage.
Last Resort: The crew of a nuclear submarine (played by the likes of Scott Speedman and Andre Braugher) has to escape to a NATO outpost after they ignore an order to fire nuclear missiles.
Zero Hour: Anthony Edwards stars as a longtime editor of a magazine that disproves conspiracies when he's pulled into one.
Red Widow: The widow (Radha Mitchell) of a murdered criminal has to take over his place to save her family.
Nashville: This family soap follows two country stars, played by Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere, one who's at the top of her career and another whose star is just rising.
Mistresses: Alyssa Milano stars in this drama about the love lives of four women, which also costars Lost's Yunjin Kim.

ABC Cancels GCB, Pan Am; Renews Scandal and Don't Trust the B----

There's a lot of wheeling and dealing going on in Hollywood this week, as all of the major TV networks have been cutting the fat and rolling out their new shows for Fall. ABC has made a lot of moves in particular; in addition to renewing the likes of Revenge, Happy Endings, and more, it's also bringing back freshman series Scandal, Last Man Standing, and Don't Trust the B---- in Apt 23. Of course, this means that the network must make room for fresh meat by making some cancellations, and ABC is axing GCB, Pan Am, The Missing, and The River. Stay tuned for more updates about the shows we can expect from ABC come Fall!

In honor of The Bachelorette star Emily Maynard's Southern roots, the show is packing up and settling into new digs in Emily's hometown of Charlotte, NC. The purported new estate is a sprawling $3.9 million European-style mansion with six bedrooms, eight and a half bathrooms, an outdoor kitchen and pool, ballroom, billiard room, gym, and playroom. Since Emily is reportedly planning to film out of her own home, that leaves the 12,000-square-foot estate as a possible new home for her suitors. Filled with imported materials and a grand porte-cochère, fit for a horse and carriage entrance, the new abode is something to see! Keep reading to take a peek inside of the expansive estate.

Tim Allen Says That Last Man Standing is Like "A Flip-Flop" of Home Improvement

If you fawned over Jonathan Taylor Thomas on Home Improvement back in the 90s, then I've got some good news for you. No, JTT is not making his return, but his onscreen dad, Tim Allen, is taking on a new comedy in ABC's Last Man Standing. The show offers the same brand of Allen's dad humor, only this time he's got three daughters instead of three sons, and he works for a men's sporting goods catalog instead of on a show about tools. The jokes were copious when Allen was joined by his costars and showrunners at the TCA, as he talked about his new gig and why he wanted to do the same kind of show as Home Improvement.

Allen made it pretty clear that he's fully aware of the similarities between Last Man Standing and Home Improvement. He compared his craft to the way Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer make the same kinds of movies over and over again, and said that though he looked at some dramedies, none of them were of interest to him (well, except for Castle). He also noted that of what he was offered, "it was never the same show [as Home Improvement], and I didn't know why we wouldn't do a version of the same show."
Allen went on to say that what he really wanted to do was "flip-flop" Home Improvement, in replacing his three sons with three daughters. He said he "wanted to investigate what it would be like to be around four women who are intelligent, strong, fun and loving." And he later added, "It isn't rocket science what I'm doing. Instead of tools, it's sporting goods and guns and boats."
Executive producer Jack Burditt made it clear that the audience won't be hit over the head with the "what makes a man a man?" premise, even though it's largely featured in the pilot. Burditt said that at the heart of it, this is "just a family comedy" and that there will be lots of other themes introduced and explored.
One element that won't be woven in, though, is politics. Allen said, "My preference would be to limit that because we learned very quickly on the past show that it lasts longer if you're not talking about political current events. Sometimes it's enticing but if you get too timely then it doesn't last very long."
As for what Allen himself believes makes a man? He brought up a debate he had with Joy Behar when he stopped by her show, saying, "I really think men need stuff to do. You have to have hobbies and you should be able to fix stuff. My grandmother said there's nothing more attractive than a man busy doing something. Maybe it's traditional but I like women who know how to cook . . . the process of letting women taking care of you. It's either old school or it's misogynistic."

Sneak Peek of The Chew, ABC's New Daytime Food Show

Today, ABC announced that The Chew, its new daytime lifestyle show, will air live beginning Sept. 26 at 1 p.m. EDT. The series, which replaces the soap opera All My Children, will feature an eclectic mix of hosts, including Italian cooking icon Mario Batali, Iron Chef Michael Symon, Top Cheftestant Carla Hall, entertaining expert Clinton Kelly, and healthy cookbook author (and Dr. Oz progeny) Daphne Oz.

The show will offer everything from "cooking and home entertaining to food trends, restaurants, holidays, and more," the release reveals. Based on the trailer, it appears to offer plenty of flashy smiles and overly enthusiastic camaraderie. In the video, Daphne adds, "It's all about food, but it's about dishing, really." ABC Announces Its Fall Premiere Schedule

ABC revealed its Fall premiere schedule today, with dates and times for its new and returning series. There are time slots for the freshman shows, like Pan Am and Charlie's Angels, plus a few longer season premieres for veterans like Modern Family and Grey's Anatomy. And don't worry about not seeing Cougar Town on the schedule - it's off for the Fall but will be back midseason.
