Who/What Was Snubbed in the Oscar Nominations?

You can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but. . . well, you know the rest. Some people are probably quite satisfied with the list of nominees for this year's Academy Awards, but I know for a fact there is some grumbling going on about who and what was left off that list.

So tell me: Which omissions annoy you the most?

Should The Wrestler have gotten a Best Picture nod - or maybe Revolutionary Road? More nominations for Vicky Cristina Barcelona or Rachel Getting Married, maybe? Are you mad that there's no love for Leonardo DiCaprio or any of the stars of Slumdog Millionaire? If no nomination for The Dark Knight as Best Picture, perhaps a Best Director nod for Christopher Nolan was deserved? And did anyone foresee two nominations for songs from Slumdog Millionaire - and none for Bruce Springsteen's "The Wrestler"?

In the months leading up to today's announcement, there was talk that The Dark Knight might actually nab a Best Picture nomination. Do you agree with the five movies selected for this category? Announcing the 2009 Oscar Nominations!

The 81st annual Academy Award nominations were announced this morning and many of the beloved favorites from the Golden Globes are back with Oscar nominations. There is certainly no lack of love in the Academy for (you might have guessed) Slumdog Millionaire, Milk, Doubt and most of all for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - including a Best Actor nomination for Brad Pitt!

The Dark Knight was passed up in the Best Picture category, though Heath Ledger is in fact up for the Best Supporting Actor award - as is Robert Downey Jr. for his role in Tropic Thunder! And Kate Winslet is nominated, this time only up for a Best Actress award for her work in The Reader. Revolutionary Road is recognized in one of the major categories with a nod to Michael Shannon for Best Supporting Actor (the announcement of which was met with some happy shrieks this morning).

Beyoncé Bundles Up Baby Blue For a Second Public Outing

Beyoncé Knowles cradled baby Blue Ivy Carter in an animal-print wrap on Sunday as they strolled NYC. It was the second time the new mom took her daughter out on the town over the weekend. On Saturday, Beyoncé and Jay-Z were photographed with their little one outside of their home for the first time, as the family of three stopped at Sant Ambroeus in the West Village for some Italian food.

Jay-Z and Beyoncé chose to skip the Academy Awards festivities this weekend and stay close to their East Coast homebase with Blue Ivy. Beyoncé and Jay made the Oscars scene together back in 2007, the year her Dreamgirls was nominated for several awards, and she also took the stage at the show in 2009 to sing with Hugh Jackman. Despite their absence this year, many of Beyoncé and Jay's famous friends, including Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow, were on hand for Hollywood's biggest night. George Clooney Looks to Recent History For His Next Film Project

Want a lesson in the recent financial crisis, as taught by a movie star? George Clooney will produce and possibly direct a film about the 2009 Wall Street bailout. The film is loosely based on a 2009 article from the Washington Post titled "The $700 Billion Man." The piece, written by Laura Blumenfeld, is about TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program) architect Neel Kashkari and the bank bailout after the 2008 economic collapse. Clooney, who helmed the Oscar-nominated Good Night and Good Luck, is currently directing The Ides of March.
