Want to catch the 2008 Oscars in one minute? Well, now you can do just that! Experience all the highs and lows of Hollywood's glamour-fest in just 60 seconds — starting with Gary Busey's extreme affection for Jennifer Garner on the red carpet, continuing through Tilda Swinton's shout-out to her agent's Oscar-like buttocks and ending with the Coen Brothers running out of things to say by the time they win Best Picture.

See those giant, plastic-wrapped Oscars up there? It's just two more days till they'll be on display for everyone to see during the 2008 Oscars! All month, I've been breaking down the Best Picture nominees, posting trailers for Best Documentary and Best Foreign Language Film nominees, checking out the art direction and costume nominees, and generally getting pumped up for Sunday's show.

Well, the Oscars are over, and it's safe to say the Coen Brothers swept this year's awards ceremony! We chuckled at Jon Stewart's jokes, swooned at Best Actress Marion Cotillard's acceptance speech and grew a little teary-eyed at the "dearly departed" montage which ended with Heath Ledger. I blogged about all my thoughts during the ceremony and asked you what you thought of the wins, some of which were easy to predict (Daniel Day-Lewis, duh) while others were surprises (Tilda Swinton!).

The 2008 Oscars are now history, but throughout Sunday's ceremony, I live-blogged some of the highlights, dull spots, and sweetest moments of the night. Read on to see what I made of the ceremony as it was happening — and share your thoughts in the comments! (All time stamps PST, last entry first.)
8:52 p.m.: So, No Country for Old Men is the 80th Best Picture, the Coens took home a couple of twin statuettes, several of the year's best performances got their due — I'm pretty pleased with this year's awards.

This year's Academy Awards didn't draw that many viewers, but they sure drummed up a lot of excitement here on the Sugar Network!
Before the ceremony last month, I asked you to predict the night's winners by filling out my Oscar ballot. This was a tricky year with a lot of great talent in each of the categories and plenty of surprises, so this was no easy task.

The Oscars ceremony simply must go on. When else am I ever going to see Michael Cera in a tux?
Seriously, though.

No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood led the field this morning when the Oscar nominations were announced in Hollywood. Each film snagged eight nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
After it raked in a huge number of Golden Globe nominations, Atonement made less of a splash here, scoring nods for Best Picture and Best Supporting Actress but largely getting shut out of other major categories.

The news that the Best Picture category at the Oscars will now include 10 nominees instead of five got me thinking: What movies from the past would I have included in the list of nominees if there were enough slots? I've gone back to 1999 and worked my way up to 2008, choosing titles that I think were worthy of a nod if this rule had existed back then. What would you have wanted to nominate, if that had been an option?

It was just announced that Jon Stewart will return as host of the 2008 Academy Awards. The show airs Feb 24 and will be produced by Gil Cates, who also produced Jon's first time back in 2006 and must have taken a liking to "The Daily Show" anchor.
The only slightly odd part was that Jon's 2006 ratings were lower than both Chris Rock the year before and Ellen last year.
