AFI's 10 Top 10 Films: Do You Agree?

This week, the American Film Institute announced its choices for the 10 greatest movies in each of 10 genres, ranging from fantasy to epic to mystery. To create the list, AFI chose 50 films in each of the categories, then handed out ballots to 1,500 greats from the film community, who narrowed the choices down to the final winners. Lists like this are simply meant to be debated, of course, so I'm curious to hear your take on which films are deserving and which were left out. Snacking Good: Natchitoches Meat Pies

We've always wanted to take a stab at rolling out a few Natchitoches meat pies. Thanks to an easy recipe from Food Orleans, this might be a dream realized sooner rather than later.

Natchitoches meat pies are one of those special little treats with a name as fun to say as they are to scarf down. Nackadish - that's how you say it - is a small town we drive through on our way north to visit Alexandria or Oklahoma, and it's where Steel Magnolias was filmed, and it's famous for these little pies. It's a beautiful little place, with a picturesque riverfront lined with shops and restaurants that have their own sort of French Quarter-ish wrought iron balconies (remember the Easter scene where Jackson slapped Ouiser? That's the riverfront!). But you don't have to go into the actual town to get yourself some meat pies; just stop at any gas station right off I-10. They all fry them up and they're all pretty wonderful.

Diane Kruger Picks a Dramatic Look For Her Royal Debut

All eyes were on Diane Kruger as she made her way down the red carpet at tonight's Berlin Film Festival premiere of Farewell, My Queen. She began the day at a photocall wearing a colorful look from 10 Crosby by Derek Lam and chatted with press, in her native German, about director Benoît Jacquot's dramatic Marie Antoinette tale. She spoke freely about the project, and even addressed the movie's over the top fashion. Diane said of the wardrobe, "I personally hate historical films where people just look at dresses and hair. . . I had to forget that to do the film. . .You need to see the woman Marie Antoinette, not just the queen."

For tonight's screening Diane went for a bolder look and turned up the sparkle factor in a beaded Giambattista Valli Couture gown, jeweled Judith Leiber clutch, and edgy cuff earrings. Diane and boyfriend Joshua Jackson are one of our favorite red-carpet pairs, and they're right at the top of our pre-Valentine's Day list of Hollywood's cutest couples. He couldn't be with her tonight, but she did have the company of the film festival's director, Dieter Kosslick.

Diane Kruger Gorgeously Gets the Berlin Film Festival Started

Diane Kruger kicked off the Berlin International Film Festival fun this morning at a photocall for her new movie Farewell, My Queen. She wore a 10 Crosby by Derek Lam look, which features a skirt worn over a dress. Her French-language picture, which is based on the story of Marie Antoinette during the French Revolution, comes from director Benoît Jacquot. Diane actually stars as Antoinette, opposite Léa Seydoux as her lady-in-waiting. The movie is one of eighteen in contention for the festival's top honor, the Golden Bear. Benoît recently spoke about casting Diane Kruger as Marie Antoinette. He said, "I wanted a foreigner and Diane happens to have similar roots to the queen; she is blond like her and about the same age . . . [Diane had a] desire for this role that was so passionate that she was irresistible to me."

Collectively, we really love our salt. We eat so much more than we should, often because of high levels of sodium hiding in many of our favorite foods. A new report released by the Centers For Disease Control identifies the top 10 saltiest foods, and some may surprise you.

Paying attention to the amount of salt hidden in your food is important because too much sodium in your diet can lead to diseases like hypertension, heart disease, and stroke. The recommended daily intake of salt is 1,500 milligrams to 2,300 milligrams (about a teaspoon), depending on your risk factors. But most Americans (about 90 percent of us) eat more than 3,300 milligrams a day. Want to know which foods are the worst to eat if you're watching your salt intake? Read the list below.

Snacks like potato chips, popcorn, and pretzels
Meatloaf and other "meat-mixed" dishes

Derek Lam's new venture, 10 Crosby, has fulfilled its cool-girl status for Fall '12.
