Do You Buy Movie Tickets in Advance?

I'm old enough to remember the days when buying tickets before a movie's release date meant getting in the car and going to the theater to purchase them.

I'm old enough to remember the days when buying tickets before a movie's release date meant getting in the car and going to the theater to purchase them. Which, in retrospect, seems really inconvenient. Sigh. I love the Internet.

Nowadays, the bigger the buzz around a movie the more people will rush to buy tickets in advance — especially with the convenience of getting tickets online. I have friends who bought their Watchmen tickets days ago, and apparently they're not alone. Fandango said that sales from advance tickets to the highly anticipated movie "represented 90% of its advance ticket sales for this weekend." Dang!

What do you think of buying tickets in advance? Seems like the thing to do to be absolutely sure you'll have a seat on opening day.

Are You Seeing Watchmen This Weekend?

Obviously one of the most anticipated panels at this year's Wondercon was Watchmen.

Obviously one of the most anticipated panels at this year's Wondercon was Watchmen. Buzz and I got to the Moscone Center early on Saturday to catch director Zack Snyder talk about the filming process, and catch a glimpse of the stars up close and in person. The room filled up quickly, and you could tell that everyone was hoping that we would get to see some exclusive footage of the movie.

And boy did we ever! After Zack showed us the first 20 minutes (or so) of the film, I was more excited than ever to see the most celebrated graphic novel hit the big screen — I've had my opening day IMAX tickets for a few weeks already! Are you as excited as I am to see Watchmen this weekend?

The Watchmen and Women Know How to Draw a Crowd

The highly anticipated Watchmen finally hits theaters this weekend and lots of stars came out to the LA premiere last night. The ensemble cast is getting down to business promoting it, which included a stop at Wondercon this weekend. Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Billy Crudup smiled and posed together while their costars Malin Akerman and Carla Gugino showed off their long gowns. Even Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens joined in on the fun — get Vanessa's flirty look here. Now that the movie is finally ready for the world, be sure to check back with Buzz later this week to see if she thinks the film will satisfy all the fans.

BuzzSugar at WonderCon: Watchmen Takes the Stage!

Saturday at WonderCon started with a bang: Watchmen director Zack Snyder appeared before an extremely packed house along with his cast to reveal about 20 minutes of footage from the movie, including the opening credits.

Saturday at WonderCon started with a bang: Watchmen director Zack Snyder appeared before an extremely packed house along with his cast to reveal about 20 minutes of footage from the movie, including the opening credits.

The conversation was lively and the footage very exciting. Of course, I can't give my final opinion till I've seen the movie start to finish, but based on what I saw this weekend, it's hard for me to imagine this film stumbling too hard. I'm a huge fan of the graphic novel, so I may be a wee bit biased — though it's hard to tell if that would make me easier or harder on the film. I guess I'll know soon, but to see my thoughts on the panel and more details about the clips, read more

Buzz Book Club: The Conclusion of Watchmen

Hello, Buzz Book Club readers.

Hello, Buzz Book Club readers. I hope you enjoyed the end of Watchmen! I think it's an especially good idea to read the book before you see the movie in this case, because a huge part of the fun will be seeing how close the film gets to the look and feel of the artwork. But we'll talk about that more in a second.

First, here's a reminder of how the book club works: Every week I'll suggest chapters to complete by the next post (which, in this case, went up every Friday in February). In these weekly Book Club posts, I'll posit a few questions to prompt discussion in the comments section.

After the jump you'll find some questions that struck me as I read this section. And tune in next week for my March selection announcement.

Buzz Book Club: Watchmen, Section One

Hello, Buzz Book Club readers!

Hello, Buzz Book Club readers! I hope you're enjoying the dark and mysterious alternate reality of Watchmen so far. I think tackling a comic book series is rewarding in some ways and a little harder than a regular book in others. It definitely makes me excited for the movie. We'll discuss more in a second.
