Analeigh Tipton had a breakout role in Crazy, Stupid, Love last year, and she's back on the big screen in Warm Bodies, which is out on Feb 1. I chatted with Tipton at the film's press day in LA, where she talked about playing Teresa Palmer's onscreen BFF and having fun improvising with her costars. She also addressed the rumors that fans want to see her in Fifty Shades of Grey, saying that she'd like to see how bold she can get.
Teresa Palmer is the heroine of Warm Bodies as Julie, one of the few humans still standing after a zombie apocalypse. When she falls for R (Nicholas Hoult), she begins to take a different view of the undead, much to the chagrin of her zombie-hunting father (John Malkovich). I recently sat down with Palmer to discuss how much she loves her "sassy, feisty" character and how she personally relates to Julie. She also shared her excitement about working with Malkovich, saying that she felt like she was in acting school having him on the set. Warm Bodies may be a zombie movie, but not everyone gets to be a member of the walking dead. Just ask Dave Franco, who stars in the film as a zombie hunter before — spoiler alert — he gets his brains eaten in one of the first few scenes of the movie. There doesn't seem to be any hard feelings, though; when I recently sat down with Franco at a press day for the film, he said he would have made a goofy zombie anyway, and didn't mind skipping the hours in the makeup chair. As for how he'd fare if zombies really took over? Well, let's just say he has some ideas. Check out the interview before the movie hits theaters Feb. 1!
Now that Edward and Bella have drifted off into the vampire sunset, it's time to find a new human/undead couple to root for. Allow us to present R (Nicholas Hoult) and Julie (Teresa Palmer), the cute zombie/human couple at the center of upcoming comedy Warm Bodies. We've been looking forward to this, um, unnatural love story since we saw the trailer, and we're loving this cute new poster that reads "He was dead inside until he met her" — get it? The trailer for Warm Bodies puts a new spin on forbidden love — instead of Romeo and Juliet, we're getting zombie and human. Zombies may not be as romanticized a supernatural creature as, say, vampires, but when the zombie in question is played by Nicholas Hoult, I might be rethinking my view of the undead. Hoult stars as R, a flesh-eater in a world where zombies are rampant. He falls in love with Julie (Teresa Palmer) at first sight, and their love for each other slowly begins to change the zombie race. Understandably, her family doesn't approve of their relationship, especially her father (John Malkovich), who happens to be the man in charge of wiping out the zombies.
The film, based on Isaac Marion's popular novel, may be filled with bloodthirsty creatures, but you can't deny that the trailer has a certain charm to it. It's quirky, and the love story feels fresh and original. I've had a crush on Hoult, who audiences may remember from About a Boy, since seeing him all grown up on the UK's Skins. Though they're an odd pair, I also love Rob Corddry as R's grunting sidekick, and truth be told, I'll see pretty much any movie that features Dave Franco.
