Vampire Diaries Recap

That's all, folks! Season four of The Vampire Diaries has wrapped up with a bang — excuse me, several bangs. This finale is action-packed — there are a couple of love confessions, more than one make-out, someone takes the cure, a dead person comes back to life, and there is a doppelganger reveal that basically blew my mind. Plus, everyone graduates! It almost seems like small potatoes compared to the other huge changes for everyone in this episode. There are major developments for Elena, Katherine, and Stefan especially — though not all of those changes are positive.

Even though there are a lot of jaw-dropping twists in the season finale, there's also so much mushy, awesome romantic stuff. There's definitely a lot here to keep me wondering all Summer long about what's going to happen next. So let's just get to it: read the good, the bad, and the bloody after the jump.

This is the last episode of The Vampire Diaries before next week's season finale, and we finally have normal Elena back. Well, she's mostly back to normal, except for the bloodthirsty rage she feels toward Katherine. But the main event is when Bonnie finally "drops the veil" so she can deal with Silas and make good on her deal with Katherine. This means we get to see some old friends (Alaric!) and enemies (Kol) as they briefly visit Mystic Falls. And though the focus is on those who have died previously, someone from the main group joins their ranks.

I'm excited to see what happens in next week's finale, but this week is so huge too. I'm ready to break down the good, the bad, and the bloody after the jump!

After a little trip to New Orleans for The Originals episode, we're back to Mystic Falls and all the small-town vampire drama on The Vampire Diaries. We pick up where we left off, with the Salvatore brothers trying to force the humanity back into Elena. It's tough — evil Elena has a lot of resolve, but the guys bring out the big guns this week for a climax that's not only devastating fort Elena, but also shocking for me. There's still cure business and Silas issues happening, but this episode is devoted to the fight for Elena's soul.

There are only two more episodes of The Vampire Diaries this season, and it seems like this week is pointing us to a final showdown: Elena vs. Katherine. Oh yeah, and possibly every dead supernatural creature vs. everybody, if Silas gets his way. But let's deal with this week first! Get to the good, the bad, and the bloody after the jump.

We get a little time-out from the cure drama in Mystic Falls on this week's episode of The Vampire Diaries, and we head to New Orleans with Klaus. There's a reason there's a focus on the original vampires — this episode also serves as the pilot for spin-off The Originals. He road-trips to Louisiana for a little witch investigation but ends up running into an old friend.

Though we do get a glimpse at the Salvatore brothers and a few people back in Mystic Falls, this week is all about Klaus. There is a lot going on in the streets of New Orleans, and it ain't Mardi Gras. Ready to get to the good, the bad, and the bloody? Just keep reading.

It's time for prom on The Vampire Diaries, and even though beloved characters have recently died and there's a threat of every dead supernatural creature coming back to life, the gang still finds time to put on some formalwear, drink punch, and boogie. It's fun for a prom episode, and I'm happy that most of the drama that happens this week is the kind of drama that happens at most high schools (you have no date to the dance, some other girl is wearing your dress, you don't win prom queen, etc.).

This week's episode of The Vampire Diaries is full of cop-outs, from a life-threatening injury to what I hoped would be the end of the cure hunt. Rebekah, Elena, Damon, and Stefan are on a small-town sojourn to pry the cure from Katherine's possession, and while we're there, we meet back up with one of my favorite Original vampires: Elijah!

We are off to the Big Apple in this week's episode of The Vampire Diaries, as Damon has decided that a trip to New York City is exactly what rebellious young vampire Elena needs. The thought is that she can have fun, relax, and eat someone in a city that won't notice one of its millions dead. We also get a '70s flashback, an awesome romantic revelation, and a game-changing act initiated by Bonnie.

Lots of things go wrong this week, including said NYC vacation. Silas is in town wreaking havoc, Klaus and Caroline are snarking at each other, and once again, the cure is on everyone's mind. Let's break it all down into the good, the bad, and the bloody after the jump.

The Vampire Diaries is back this week with some vampire rebellion, as Elena gets to be a bad girl after her feelings are turned off. While she's busy with her rampant feeding, dancing, and making everyone uncomfortable, Stefan and Caroline worry about her behavior, and Damon is looking for clues about Katherine's whereabouts.

We get a surprising dose of steaminess from someone who's waited a very long time for some action — Klaus! However, I do have some mixed feelings about it. Let's get down to that, plus the other good, bad, and bloody after the jump.

This week's episode of The Vampire Diaries brings us back after Jeremy's death, and instead of grief, there's mostly talk of bringing him back. As Elena wallows in denial, Bonnie is slowly getting closer to the darker side as Professor Shane convinces her that she can raise him and lots of other dead — but, of course, there's a catch.

This is one of the most emotional episodes in a long time, with several characters suffering from bouts of anguish, and it's also ominous for a few reasons. This week's Vampire Diaries picks up after last week's cliffhanger, out in the wild as most of the gang heads to find evil immortal Silas and the vampire cure he's buried with. It's a lot more action-packed this week — and consequential — as one major villain resurfaces, one character says goodbye to Mystic Falls, and one of our main group appears to be dead.
