Tika Sumpter is starring in The Haves and the Have Nots, a new scripted series for the Oprah Winfrey Network. She tells us what is was like when Oprah visited the set, what it was like working with Chad Michael Murray and talks about some of her favorite past costars, like Whitney Houston, Chace Crawford, and Angelina Jolie.
From runways to red carpets, this year's ponytail has a more dressed-up feel about it. Tika Sumpter, for instance, topped her waterfall-style ponytail off with a wraparound base, proving that the style isn't just for life's casual moments. Coco Rocha opted for a sleek, side-parted ponytail worn low at the nape, while Salma Hayek took a more playful approach, wearing her bouncier version set in the middle at the back. Each style gives off a different vibe, thanks to texture and placement, but whose pretty ponytail do you prefer?
Tika Sumpter looked absolutely stunning in a floor-length. bright violet Herve Leger bandage dress at the premiere of What's Your Number in LA. She paired her gorgeous gown with matching lipstick, a braided updo, and a white croc clutch. We added strappy, gold Louboutin sandals to complete her showstopping style. Unfortunately, her exact gown is no longer available online, but shop here to get the same frock in a different hue.
Anna Faris and Chris Evans teamed up for the LA premiere of What's Your Number last night. In-demand Chris has been juggling many roles over the last few weeks. After donning his Captain America suit to finish up shooting The Avengers, he premiered the legal thriller Puncture, which is out in limited release Friday, in NYC last Thursday. His new comedy sees Anna Faris trying to track down all of her ex-boyfriends — check out the What's Your Number trailer. They had the support of costars Zachary Quinto and Blythe Danner for yesterday's festivities, which is out in theaters on Sept. 30.
Tika Sumpter joined a slew of celebs at the Alice and Olivia Spring 2012 presentation in NYC. Tika looked stunning in a sequin Alice and Olivia dress, metallic gold pumps, and a black sequin clutch. Her curled locks held extra shine, while her orange blush and pink nails added a touch of color to her neutral ensemble. Get Ms. Sumpter's exact dress with other like items here.
Chace Crawford was back on the set of Gossip Girl in NYC yesterday morning. He didn't have the company of his hard partying costars Blake Lively and Jessica Szohr, but Chace was spotted sharing scenes with new addition to the cast, One Life to Live star Tika Sumpter. Chace, who was one of your favorite shirtless guys of 2010, rang in the New Year in Miami with Glee's Matthew Morrison and has a big 2011 ahead. Not only is Chace keeping busy shooting the current season of the CW hit, but also his sister Candice has a wedding to plan following her holiday engagement to Tony Romo.
The Upper East Side is about to get invaded by new Gossip Girl characters. Michael Boatman and Tika Sumpter have been cast on the series as a father and daughter pair, and since the show has been depending heavily on its guest stars to give the plot any direction, I'm guessing they'll be shaking things up for Blair and the gang.
Boatman, whom you may recognize from '90s sitcom Spin City, will play Russell Thorpe, a Donald Trump-type businessman who has dealt with Bart Bass, and Sumpter will play his "smart and savvy" daughter Raina. Gossip Girl's guest stars usually only stick around for a few episodes, but I'm glad to see fresh new blood — especially if it means that tiresome schemer Juliet is on her way out.
