Hung is one of the freshman shows that I grew to love last year, and on June 27, it returns for another romp. In this just-released teaser, Ray (Thomas Jane) experiences a Groundhog Day-like series of recurring hotel check-ins and dropping trou. On Sunday, HBO debuted its new show Hung , about a washed-up athlete who decides to exploit what he thinks is the one asset he has left — a big penis — by becoming a male escort. Starring Thomas Jane as Ray Drecker, Hung lets it all hang out, so to speak.

It's your turn to let it all hang out. We told you about an online dating service for the well-endowed, and although you guys weren't so keen on the idea, you had a lot to say about penis size. Ever since we first learned of its, er, suggestive name, I've been curious to see HBO's Hung.

Ever since we first learned of its, er, suggestive name, I've been curious to see HBO's Hung. Possibilities for sick jokes aside, there are lots of solid reasons I'm looking forward to checking out this comedy tonight.

For one thing, the extra-long (. . . hee) premiere episode is directed by Alexander Payne of Election and Sideways fame. For another, the show comes from Dmitry Lipkin, who previously created the world of modern-day traveling scam artists in The Riches. And for a third, HBO's comedy is looking good these days in general, from Eastbound and Down to the forthcoming Bored to Death, so I'm willing to give anything they introduce a shot.

Hung stars Thomas Jane as Ray Drecker, a once-promising basketball star turned down-on-his-luck small-time coach. In the midst of a particularly painful string of missteps, he attends a self-help conference and realizes he can perhaps make a living using the one asset nobody has ever doubted: his . . . um, you know.

It's certainly a unique idea, and I'll be curious to see how it works as a comedy. Will you be tuning in? To check out three clips from tonight's episode, just read more

Apparently, we really need to pay our teachers more in this country. First, Breaking Bad's Walt White turned to drugs to provide for his family. Now, Ray Drecker (Thomas Jane) — the protagonist of HBO's upcoming series Hung — is envisioning a way out of his underpaid, underappreciated life by rising to fame and fortune on the strength of his . . . well, you know.

Yes, Ray — reeling from a divorce from his wife (Anne Heche) and a fire that damages his home — has identified a particular, er, "winning tool" that could bring him some success. And he's going to work that asset, venturing into the worlds of male escorts, porn, and other such escapades. Let's just say this already looks like the kind of show that only premium cable could make.

The Cox-Arquette clan broke out their 3-D glasses last night for a screening of The Butler's In Love, a short film directed by David and starring his brother Richmond. Coco came along for a night out with her parents, but that wasn't all the family fun. David's sisters Rosanna, Alexis, and Patricia — along with her husband Thomas Jane, who starred in The Sweetest Thing back in the day — were also on hand to show their support. Whether it's friends or family, the Cox-Arquettes always seem to stay surrounded by the people they love.
