Breaking Dawn Part 2

Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson)'s saga comes to an end in this lackluster conclusion to the Twilight films. After giving birth to their half-human/half-vampire child, Renesmee, Bella makes a fast recovery and adjusts to her new vampire prowess. Soon enough, the entire Cullen clan must face up to the Volturi, who suspect Renesmee was illegally made into a vampire child. The battle scene is a thrilling climax, but unless you're a Twilight devotee, there's not much else to see here. The DVD comes with several featurettes, a music video, and director commentary.

The Master

Joaquin Phoenix stars as a troubled war veteran who has difficulty adjusting to everyday life after returning from the war — until he finds a charismatic man (Philip Seymour Hoffman) who promises to restore him to sanity. Though the man and his family have questionable methods and philosophies, the two forge a unique bond. Amy Adams also stars in this intense, puzzling drama from Paul Thomas Anderson. DVD extras include footage not used in the film.

Amy Adams Talks About Enjoying Her Fourth Nomination at Oscars Luncheon

The Master star Amy Adams was one of the nominees to talk to the press today about her honor at the Oscars Luncheon, and the actress seemed extremely comfortable and upbeat.

The Master star Amy Adams was one of the nominees to talk to the press today about her honor at the Oscars Luncheon, and the actress seemed extremely comfortable and upbeat. It's probably because this isn't her first time being nominated, and she talked about how that's been one of the reasons she's been able to enjoy award season so much. She also talked about what she's thinking of wearing down the red carpet and the other A-listers she had been flirting with that afternoon.

On what she was doing before talking to press: "Sorry, you just interrupted my flirting with Bradley Cooper and Christoph Waltz."

On her award season so far: "I'm always saying, 'Oh, this year I want to have fun.' This year, I am having fun. It's not a matter of 'I want to have fun' — it's just a matter of, I don't know if I'm ever going to be back. God willing, we'll see. But four times is awesome, and I just really want to enjoy it. I'm enjoying it. It's not like I [just] want to enjoy it — I am actually experiencing it."

On what she wants to wear on Oscar night: "I think it's different every year. It kind of depends on my mood. This year I'm kind of going with the idea that I'm having fun and just sort of fulfilling a fantasy of going to the Oscars."

Amy Adams Gets Wild on the Master Red Carpet

Amy Adams struck a pose while premiering The Master in NYC last night.

Amy Adams struck a pose while premiering The Master in NYC last night. She chose an animal-print dress by Giambattista Valli for the event, which brought out other famous faces as well. Adrien Brody, Bryan Greenberg, and Justin Long were on hand, as was Gabourey Sidibe and Amy's costar Madisen Beaty.

Gossip Girl's Kaylee DeFer walked the carpet after popping up at Fashion Week. We caught up with her at Alice + Olivia's Spring 2013 presentation, where she chatted about Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds's wedding being a surprise to her and the rest of their small-screen cast. Amy got in on the stylish fun herself last week, when she attended the Style Awards. She'll continue to be in the spotlight until her movie hits theaters on Sept. 21 — watch the creepy new trailer for The Master!

Joaquin Phoenix Gets Intense in a Creepy New Trailer For The Master

We've already seen a trailer for The Master, Paul Thomas Anderson's drama about a cult leader and his disillusioned followers.

We've already seen a trailer for The Master, Paul Thomas Anderson's drama about a cult leader and his disillusioned followers. That one is disturbing, but the new trailer is even more creepy. There's a lot of Philip Seymour Hoffman's Lancaster Dodd waxing poetic about what sets man apart from animals, but this time Joaquin Phoenix's character is shown facedown, banging on the window faster and faster as the drama heats up. Oh, and at one point a girl just wiggles her tongue at the camera.

With its intense buildup and dark subject matter, this trailer reminds me a lot of Anderson's last directorial effort, 2007's There Will Be Blood. I'm more excited than ever to see Hoffman as the cult leader, though I'm a little afraid I might get sucked into his charisma. Check out the trailer after the jump.

The Master Trailer: Philip Seymour Hoffman Bewitches Joaquin Phoenix

Philip Seymour Hoffman plays Lancaster Dodd, a "writer, a doctor, a nuclear physicist, a theoretical philosopher," and possibly an extremely creepy cult leader, in the trailer for The Master.

Philip Seymour Hoffman plays Lancaster Dodd, a "writer, a doctor, a nuclear physicist, a theoretical philosopher," and possibly an extremely creepy cult leader, in the trailer for The Master. Joaquin Phoenix plays Freddie, a troubled veteran who is drawn to the charismatic Lancaster, known as "The Master." Promising to point him in the right direction (toward a family and a place in society), The Master soon becomes an integral part of Freddie's life. But is Lancaster a friend, or is he simply manipulating Freddie, making up the whole facade as he goes along?

This is director Paul Thomas Anderson's first film since 2007's There Will Be Blood, and this looks every bit as hypnotizing. I don't know if I buy Amy Adams as Hoffman's wife, but given that his character seems to possess great personal charm, I can make an exception. I also can't get over the perfect casting of Friday Night Lights' Jesse Plemons play Hoffman's son. I'm simultaneously excited for this movie and anticipating being quite perturbed by Hoffman. The Master is set for a Nov. 9 release (just in time for Oscar season!), but check out the trailer after the jump.
