Saoirse Ronan plays double duty in The Host — Stephenie Meyer's latest novel to be adapted for the big screen — as two characters trapped in one body. We sat down with the actress at a recent press day for the film, where she talked about taking on the challenging role. Saoirse also weighed in on Stephenie's popularity and her own experience reading Twilight for the first time. The Host hits theaters on March 29.
Movie Sneak Peek: G.I. Joe: Retaliation and The Host
Action sequel G.I. Joe: Retaliation opens this weekend, but if you're not in the mood for an Army-set adventure (but really, who isn't in the mood for Channing Tatum?), the big-screen adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's novel The Host is also out. Check out all the pictures and let us know what you'll be seeing!
Joshua Jackson Joins Diane Kruger at Her Host Premiere
Joshua Jackson showed support for Diane Kruger when he attended the premiere of her new film, The Host, in LA last night. Diane wore a sheer black dress by Thakoon and Jimmy Choo shoes as she posed on the red carpet with Joshua and later met up with costars Saoirse Ronan and Max Irons. The movie, which hits theaters on March 29, is based on the novel of the same name by Twilight creator Stephenie Meyer. Diane has been doing quite a bit of press for her new flick, including covering the latest issue of Flare magazine and attending a Host book signing last weekend. She showed midriff in a Carven top at the literary event after going casual in pink pants for errands. Diane's style has garnered plenty of fans, including Brad Goreski, who recently confessed that she's his "style crush."
See Diane Kruger Look Red Hot — and Show Off Midriff
Diane Kruger kicked off the promo tour with a book signing in LA for her new movie, The Host, where she stars alongside Max Irons and Jake Abel. We love seeing Diane on the red carpet, and lucky for us, this movie means we'll be seeing a whole lot of red-carpet style from the German actress. Showing off her svelte frame, Diane chose a look consisting of a Carven crop top and a Vanessa Bruno red leather skirt. This is just the first of the style setter's promotional looks, so stay tuned as we document all of Diane's red carpet cameos! On Allison McNamara: BCBG Max Azria jacket, Zara blouse, Club Monaco pants, Kenneth Jay Lane earrings.
The Host Trailer: Saoirse Ronan Falls in Love, Gets Seized by Alien
Just in time for the conclusion of Twilight, the full trailer for the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's The Host has arrived. This one is a love story too, but this time we've got aliens instead of vampires. We've already seen a teaser for the movie, but this is the first full-length trailer and it shows a lot more of the plot. Saoirse Ronan and Max Irons star as Melanie and Jared, two humans living in a future in which the planet has been overrun by an invading species known as Souls. Soon after meeting and falling in love (I mean, they are some of the last humans on earth), Melanie is captured by the aliens, including The Seeker (Diane Kruger). They attempt to take over her body so it can act as a host for one of them, but her will is strong and she puts up a fight.
This trailer is pretty thrilling and it really gets started when "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons kicks in — talk about a perfect song choice. We've seen movies that take place in the future, but the way they show the aliens taking over bodies and inhabiting the Earth makes the concept still feel fresh — and excessively creepy. What do you think, will The Host be all the rage in 2013? The movie opens March 29, and you can watch the trailer when you read more.
See Pictures From The Host
When the Twilight films have all been released, there will still be Stephenie Meyer's touch in the theater, because her sci-fi novel The Host is being adapted for the screen. The movie doesn't come out until 2013, but we have already seen the ominous teaser. Even though there wasn't much to see of the film, you can see the actors in character in this crop of photos. Check out Saoirse Ronan in the starring role as Melanie, who's possessed by the alien Wanderer, along with Max Irons as her love interest, Diane Kruger as another alien, The Seeker, and Jake Abel as Ian O'Shea.

The Host Teaser: I Guess Aliens Have Really Pretty Eyes
The Twilight Saga may be winding down this year, but The Host is another Stephenie Meyer adaptation to look forward to. Unfortunately, the first teaser for the film — which stars Saoirse Ronan as a woman who fights against an alien that tries to take over her body — is pretty underwhelming. There's no real footage from the film, just some threats that the world as we know it is about to be taken over (and apparently, you can see it in our eyes). The trailer loses more points since we don't get to see Ronan's cute costar Max Irons at all. At least there's still a full trailer to look forward to.
