Blake Lively Uses Cupcakes to Fatten Up Ryan Reynolds

Based on her baked-goods antics, it looks like Blake Lively has a bit of a competitive streak in her.

Based on her baked-goods antics, it looks like Blake Lively has a bit of a competitive streak in her. At a press conference for The Green Lantern, Blake joked that she attempted to thwart costar Ryan Reynolds's efforts to bulk up with his weakness — cupcakes. "It was just a way to sabotage Ryan. He was working out as much as he was, and I'm the girl. I'm supposed to look better." Ryan was happy to oblige, but based on the previews I'm seeing of the movie, it looks as if the cupcakes did very little in wrecking his form.

While Blake was definitely joking, this isn't always the case. Have you ever known anyone that was just a little too generous with gifting you baked goods?

Are You Excited to See Blake Lively Getting Bigger Roles?

Blake Lively's February cover of Esquire is out, coinciding perfectly with the news that she won the female lead opposite Ryan Reynolds in The Green Lantern.

Blake Lively's February cover of Esquire is out, coinciding perfectly with the news that she won the female lead opposite Ryan Reynolds in The Green Lantern. There was a rather public casting process for the coveted role, with established actresses like Jennifer Garner, Diane Kruger, and Keri Russell allegedly also in the running.

Blake Lively became a household name due to her small screen work in Gossip Girl, though she's starting to cross over into major film territory with her latest role and appearances in The Town and The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. It might be hard to stop seeing Blake as Serena van der Woodsen — even Blake herself says, "I can snap into Serena very easily . . . the way I dress as Serena is pretty much the way I dress as me. I'm living in New York City, shooting in New York City. I'm in a comfort zone." So tell us what you think — are you excited to see Blake Lively getting bigger roles?

Blake Lively Is the Green Lantern's Leading Lady

Serena van Der Woodsen has been kind of bugging me lately, so I'm happy to report that soon we'll get a chance to see her alter ego somewhere besides NYC.

Serena van Der Woodsen has been kind of bugging me lately, so I'm happy to report that soon we'll get a chance to see her alter ego somewhere besides NYC. Blake Lively is set to star opposite Ryan Reynolds in the highly anticipated Green Lantern. Lively will play Carol Ferris, who hires the test pilot (and secret Green Lantern persona) Hal Jordan for her father's aerospace company. In the comic, the two embark on a romance, but things get complicated when she is handpicked by an alien race and turns into more of a supervillain, pitting her against the Green Lantern.

Ferris is described as having her MBA, and rumors mentioned everyone from Keri Russell to Diane Kruger to Jennifer Garner for the role. I'm surprised to see the younger Lively beat out these women for the part, but I think she'll make for a good damsel in distress if the script calls for it. Plus, I'm sure Lively wouldn't be shy about slipping into a spandex suit.

Do you think Lively is a good choice for the film? Do you think she and Ryan Reynolds will make a good onscreen couple?

Cooper, Reynolds, or Timberlake — Who Should Play Green Lantern?

Apparently Warner Bros. has spent "the past five months searching for the actor to play Hal Jordan, the hot-shot Air Force pilot who is chosen by a dying alien to be his successor in an intergalactic police force known as the Green Lanterns."

Apparently Warner Bros. has spent "the past five months searching for the actor to play Hal Jordan, the hot-shot Air Force pilot who is chosen by a dying alien to be his successor in an intergalactic police force known as the Green Lanterns." Now the list has shortened to three names: Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds, and Justin Timberlake.

The director, one of the producers and the studio each have a different favorite among the three, and they're having a difficult time coming to an agreement. Budget may be another consideration, as Green Lantern will reportedly be "a full-blown space epic that is expected to cost between $150 million and $200 million."

Ryan Reynolds has proven he can play a comic book character; do you think Bradley Cooper or Justin Timberlake could also do well with this kind of role? Who should be cast as the Green Lantern?
