For the second week in a row, exorcism horror movie The Possession came in at number one at the box office, earning $9.5 million from moviegoers. That's not saying much, considering it was the worst weekend at the box office since 2008. Shia LaBeouf's Lawless took second with $6 million, while The Words — the only new release to place in the top five — earned third with $5 million. The Expendables 2 hung in fourth place with $4.6 million, followed by The Bourne Legacy with $4 million.
The Expendables 2 Stays Fierce at Number One at the Box Office
For the second week in a row, The Expendables 2 claimed the top spot at the box office, earning $13.5 million. In fact, all of last week's top four remained in their spots from last week: The Bourne Legacy took in $9.3 million, ParaNorman earned $8.6 million, The Campaign came in fourth place at $7.4 million, and The Dark Knight Rises sneaked back into the top five with $7.1 million. Surprisingly, none of this week's new releases (including Premium Rush, with $6.3 million, and Hit and Run, with $4.7 million) cracked the top five.
Box Office: The Expendables 2 Blows Away the Competition
The Sylvester Stallone-led pack of action megastars blasted their way to the top of the box office with their sequel, The Expendables 2, which earned $28.8 million in its opening weekend. Trailing in second, The Bourne Legacy took in $17 million while new family release ParaNorman raked in $14 million. The Campaign made $13.4 million, and Whitney Houston's Sparkle fell flat with just $12 million.

May and June have us excited about Snow White and the Huntsman and Magic Mike, but even further out on the horizon, we get to see the newest installments of superhero franchises like The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises. Not to say this Summer is all about the action; trailers for comedies like Ted and The Campaign also have us chuckling. Check out July and August releases and let us know what Summer blockbuster you're looking forward to the most!
The Expendables 2 Trailer: Liam Hemsworth Shoots and Scores
The bad boys of The Expendables are back in the trailer for the sequel, and this time they have a hot, new secret weapon: Liam Hemsworth. Given that the original film features action stars of many decades (including Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, and Chuck Norris), it seems fitting that they've made room for the Hunger Games star as their latest edition (fun fact: Hemsworth was originally cast in the first film, but his part was cut). In The Expendables 2, Hemsworth joins the gang as a sniper named Billy the Kid as they face down a villain played by Jean-Claude Van Damme.
Don't try to follow too much of the story in the trailer, though; it's mostly a mélange of shoot-'em-up sequences, fistfights, and explosions. It's not that it's not fun, however, and it's definitely worth the watch to see Hemsworth in action star mode. The movie comes out on Aug. 17, and you can check out the trailer when you read more
See Liam Hemsworth and All 12 Stars of The Expendables 2 in Character Posters
We can't get enough of Liam Hemsworth lately, so we were stoked to get the first look at the Hunger Games star in character in his poster for The Expendables 2. He plays Billy "The Kid" Timmons, the newest (and youngest) edition to the tough-as-nails special ops team. Hemsworth joins the ranks of Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, Chuck Norris, and they even snagged Arnold Schwarzenegger for another cameo. Check out all the posters from the team and trust us, it's worth a scroll just to see the names — Jet Li as Yin Yang? Genius.
