Terminator 4

Christian and Sibi Bale posed together in black at last night's LA premiere of Terminator: Salvation. After his rant, Christian's been cautious about doing press for the movie, though most of you don't hold the incident against him. While he's never one to be lighthearted, he's even tentatively joking about the on-set blowup. Eric Dane skipped out on watching himself on last night's dramatic Grey's Anatomy finale, while Kelly Osbourne showed off her bleach-blond do. The movie doesn't hit theaters until next Wednesday so even if he doesn't love it, Christian's red carpet responsibilities aren't quite over yet.

Though I was all prepared to check out the teaser trailer for the fourth Terminator movie later tonight (it was supposed to come online around 9:00 p.m. EST), it appears that the video is available online right now. And it's pretty spooky.

The footage, such as it is, is scratchy and choppy, cutting in and out ominously while Christian Bale, as John Connor, explains that "this is not the future my mother warned me about." The scariest part comes in the last few moments — and that's the part that I think will make audiences cheer when they see this before The Dark Knight this weekend.

• According to The Guardian, Naomi Watts will play one of King Lear's daughters in the next film adaptation of Shakespeare's play. Gwyneth Paltrow and Keira Knightley will take on the roles of the other two daughters to Anthony Hopkins's King Lear.
• Matthew Fox is in talks to star in yet another one of Hollywood's comic book-turned-movies, Billy Smoke, about "an elite hit man who's nearly killed during a botched job and realizes that his only way to find redemption is to rid the world of all assassins."
• Hollywood Reporter writes that Helena Bonham Carter will have a "small but pivotal role" in the fourth Terminator movie.
• A follow-up to 300 is officially in the works, with Frank Miller currently writing the graphic novel on which it will be based. Though he's not committed yet, 300 director Zack Snyder is "definitely interested" to see what Miller comes up with. It's unclear whether the new installment will be a prequel or a spinoff, Variety reports.
• Robert Rodriguez is casting his lady Rose McGowan yet again, this time for a new film version of Red Sonja, a story based on the fearsome woman warrior created by Robert E. Howard and later adapted for Marvel Comics, Variety writes.
• According to Hollywood Reporter, four more ladies (Marcia Gay Harden, Kristen Wiig, Juliette Lewis and Zoe Bell) have joined Drew Barrymore's directorial feature Whip It, starring Ellen Page. The movie is based on the novel Derby Girl.

• According to ComingSoon, Dawson's Creek's Kerr Smith will join the cast of the 3-D remake of My Bloody Valentine.
• Rock legend Bo Diddley died today at the age of 79, writes Billboard.
• ABC's Life on Mars adaptation is looking pretty troubled already, according to the LA Times, though it's the network's only new drama for the Fall.
• The Hollywood Reporter announced that Bryce Dallas Howard will replace Charlotte Gainsbourg in the fourth Terminator installment.
• American Idol winner David Cook's recording deal is official, and he's still setting all kinds of iTunes records, USA Today reports.




• Variety reports that Family Guy will compete as a regular comedy at the Emmys — not just an animated one — for the first time.
• Katharine McPhee and Wes Bentley are set to star together in the indie psychological drama The Storyteller, reports ComingSoon.

Well, OK, we already had one reason: Christian Bale. But now that Common's joining the cast of the fourth Terminator installment, Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, it's pretty much guaranteed I'll check out this movie.

According to Variety, "Story centers on John Connor (Bale), now in his 30s, who leads what is left of the human race in a battle against the machines. Common will play a freedom fighter and member of Connor's inner circle."

Oooh, "freedom fighter." Hot.
