What to Rent: New DVDs This Week

Limitless

Bradley Cooper stars in this thriller as Eddie, an author who finds the cure for his writer's block in the form of a new drug. Once he's on AZT, he can access 100% of his brainpower, which takes him from zero to hero in a matter of days. Things start to spiral out of control when Eddie learns of the pill's dangerous side effects, and when those around him start figuring out his secret and want in on the action. Though the plot meanders a bit, it's still a fun ride that confirms Cooper as a marketable leading man. The DVD extras include an alternate ending, an unrated extended cut, deleted scenes and a couple of making-of featurettes.

Take Me Home Tonight

Topher Grace goes totally '80s in this comedy as a college grad who gets a second chance at his dream girl (Teresa Palmer) over the course of one party-filled night. The film boasts every cliché from the decade you could possibly imagine, and though Grace and Palmer have sweet chemistry, overall it doesn't break any new ground. Extras on the DVD include several deleted scenes, a "music boom box" feature, the trailer, and a Take Me Home Tonight music video.

Box Office: Rango Wrangles the Number One Spot

Animated films have been landing on the top of the box office heap for the past couple of weekends now.

Animated films have been landing on the top of the box office heap for the past couple of weekends now. While Gnomeo and Juliet won last week, this weekend's new release Rango claimed the number one spot. The Johnny Depp-voiced flick earned $38 million, while Matt Damon and Emily Blunt's romantic thriller The Adjustment Bureau trailed it with $20.9 million.

Beastly managed to get third place with $10.1 million, followed by the Farrelly brother's crass comedy Hall Pass, which brought in $9 million. Completing the top five was last week's champ Gnomeo and Juliet with $6.9 million. Newbie Take Me Home Tonight had a rough go, making just $3.5 million and landing it in the 11th spot.

Buzz In: What Movie Party Would You Like to Attend?

The weekend is here, which means it's time to kick back, or if you prefer, go wild!

The weekend is here, which means it's time to kick back, or if you prefer, go wild! Today's new movie release Take Me Home Tonight features an '80s house party, and it got me thinking about the craziest shindigs I've seen on screen — and which I'd like to attend myself.

I'd love to belt out "Paradise City" right along with William Lichter in Can't Hardly Wait or jump into the pool with Will Ferrell in Anchorman. The Valley party in Clueless also looks particularly fun ("Rollin' With My Homies"!), minus the whole getting robbed on the street part. So tell me, which onscreen celebration is tops on your list. Is it the roof concert in Empire Records or the water tower get-together in Dazed and Confused? Chime in!

Take Me Home Tonight: Not the Party of the Decade

Most movies try to show you something you've never seen before, but Take Me Home Tonight aims to do just the opposite.

Most movies try to show you something you've never seen before, but Take Me Home Tonight aims to do just the opposite. Set in 1988, the objective of the comedy is to capitalize on the trends of the decade, poke fun at the style, and pay homage to the films that defined a generation. Unfortunately, it gets so bogged down in piling on the clichés that it comes off as a forgettable knockoff of a John Hughes movie.

The movie takes place over one long night as Matt (Topher Grace) sets out for one purpose: to obtain the phone number of his high school crush, Tori (Teresa Palmer). A recent MIT grad, brainy Matt is unsure what to do with his life and ends up living in his parents' house and working at the local video store. There, he bumps into Tori for the first time in years and fabricates a fancy job at Goldman Sachs to impress her. When he learns that she'll be attending a rager that night, he enlists the help of his twin sister Wendy (Anna Faris) and best friend Barry (Dan Fogler) to keep his charade going.

Deborah Gibson Relives Her Makeup Past: Love It or Hate It?

Debbie — ahem, Deborah — Gibson showed up to the Take Me Home Tonight premiere wearing a look reminiscent of her glory days, sporting electric blue shadow, hot pink lips, and awesome mall hair.

Debbie — ahem, DeborahGibson showed up to the Take Me Home Tonight premiere wearing a look reminiscent of her glory days, sporting electric blue shadow, hot pink lips, and awesome mall hair. Granted, the premiere was '80s-themed, so we can't assume that Deborah rocks this look every day, but still, it's an over-the-top look that begs the question: do you love or hate this blast from the past?
