Stay Cool

I've been perusing the long list of interesting-looking movies scheduled for this year's Tribeca Film Festival, which starts this week. Some of them, like Stay Cool, are already earning some buzz, and I'm anxious to find out what festivalgoers think once they've screened.

The intriguing cast of Stay Cool includes Chevy Chase, Winona Ryder, Hilary Duff, Sean Astin, and Jon Cryer as well as the man of my dreams, Sawyer (or, Josh Holloway of Lost).

The comedy, written and directed by the Polish brothers, "centers on a successful author (Mark Polish) who is forced to confront an unrequited high school crush (Winona Ryder) when he returns home to deliver a commencement address to graduating seniors. Shasta O'Neil (Hilary Duff), a sexy high school senior flirts with the visiting author and invites him to the prom."

After reading my post about soaking your hair before a workout, a friend of mine shared a similar stay-cool tip that I just have to pass along.

When hiking, playing tennis, or participating in other warm-weather activities, try soaking a bandana in ice water and wearing it as a headband. That way you can stay cool and show off some hippie-chic style. Or, if it's really hot, try rolling up a few ice cubes in your bandana and tying it around your neck, situating the ice at your back so the cool water trickles down. If you're near a cooler, you can even keep rewetting and reicing the bandana throughout the day.

One caveat: Although wetting your hair or tying on an ice-cold bandana can help you stay cool, it's no substitute for actually drinking water, so don't forget to hydrate!

When I head out into the hot weather to work out, I discovered an easy trick for staying cool. It works so well that I do it before heading out for a run, bike ride, or hike. I simply stand over the sink and drench my hair with water. When it's completely soaked and dripping, I wrap it in a bun. As I run, the breeze on my wet head keeps me cool. It is quite a pleasant sensation. Try it the next time you head out in the heat.

Now, I was interested in the initial movie news concerning Stay Cool, when the cast included Chevy Chase, Winona Ryder, Hilary Duff, Sean Astin and Jon Cryer. But now that they're adding my beloved Sawyer (Josh Holloway, of Lost), my interest has naturally morphed into complete fascination.

The movie, described as a "knowing-your-age comedy" follows "a successful author (Mark Polish) who is forced to confront an unrequited high school crush, Scarlet Smith (Ryder), when he returns home to deliver a commencement address to graduating seniors."

Duff plays Shasta O'Neill, "a sexy high school senior who flirts with the visiting author and invites him to the prom." Holloway's character is "the former high school jock and ex-boyfriend to Ryder's Scarlet."

This collection of people is hilariously bizarre in my eyes, and I can't wait to see what comes out of this project. Will you be first in line at the theaters along with me?

Stay Cool, a comedy by twin brothers Michael and Mark Polish (The Astronaut Farmer, Northfork) just added Hilary Duff (who stays cool this summer in real life by going shopping) to the cast, which already included Chevy Chase, Jon Cryer, Winona Ryder and Sean Astin.

How cool is this character name?

She was recently seen in War, Inc. opposite John Cusack as the "sexy international pop starlet" and now she's going back to high school as a sexy student. I guess use it if you got it. . . ?
