Jake Gyllenhaal stars in this sci-fi action film about a soldier who wakes up on a train in the body of someone else. He quickly finds that he's on a mission to find a bomber who has blown up the train in an alternate timeline, and he gets eight minutes to try each time until he locates the terrorist. I was enthralled by the action and plot of this movie — rent it if you need a slick entertaining thrill ride. The extras on the DVD include a commentary track with the director and Gyllenhaal and cast interviews.

When they meet, Annie quickly learns that her Internet paramour is a lot older than she thought — and has sinister intentions. Jake Gyllenhaal was in Rome today as he continued his whirlwind international press tour for Source Code. The actor posed with his director Duncan Jones at the Italian photocall the day after an appearance in Milan. Jake has also been a frequent face on TV while he supports the thriller, putting in an appearance on SNL last weekend, swinging by The Daily Show, and making the morning-show rounds. He did take a brief break from work, though, to check out a Broadway show just before packing his bags for the overseas trip.

Jake Gyllenhaal Makes a Source Code Stop in Spain

Jake Gyllenhaal took his thriller Source Code to Spain today. The actor and his director, Duncan Jones, were on hand for a photocall at Madrid's Santo Mauro hotel to hype their project's international release. The movie, which Buzz thinks solidifies Jake's action star status, came in second at the box office behind Hop over the weekend. Jake headed overseas after a busy promotional visit to the Big Apple, where he made the morning show rounds, attended the NYC premiere of the film, and even made a cameo on SNL. He also apparently had time for romance, since he was spotted out on a date with a mystery woman.

The two are in their home stretch of promoting the film stateside, and it arrives in theaters today — check out Buzz's rave review here. Lindsay Lohan hit the red carpet at the event after a wild evening out in the city on Wednesday, though she insists that falling in the street was all a joke. Perhaps she was getting in the April Fools' Day spirit early? Jake had a big smile on his face for all the photos and his sweet charm was front and center earlier in the day when he was caught in the middle of Carrie Ann Inaba's engagement surprise.

Source Code: A Summer Blockbuster Comes Early

With Source Code, Jake Gyllenhaal has cemented his position as an action star who can deliver.

With Source Code, Jake Gyllenhaal has cemented his position as an action star who can deliver. He plays Captain Colter Stevens, a soldier whose last memory is flying a helicopter in Afghanistan. When he wakes up in the body of a teacher on a train, he's understandably confused; the situation grows more complicated when the train blows up and he awakens back in his own body in an unfamiliar tiny vessel. Disoriented, he learns that he's been assigned to revisit the final eight minutes on a commuter train before it's blown up in order to find the bomber and prevent the next, larger attack.

Stevens must relive the same sequence repeatedly until he's successful, not only to save lives but to prove that the quantum physics-based program (Source Code) works. A romantic subplot with fellow passenger Christina (Michelle Monaghan) is woven in, but the film is more than a simple action thriller with a hint of romance. Source Code is a multi-layered story that's well produced, well acted, and the best movie I've seen this year.
